Have you ever been so excited about something all your life and when the day finally reaches you regret being so excited about it?

My name is Linda Malorie and that's exactly what is happening to me at this exact moment.

Its my nineteenth birthday, which may seem like a normal day to anyone , that is those who weren't werewolves. For werewolves this was one of the most exciting days ever, the day you find out who was your mate.

So if you're anything like me you'll be more than happy that this day has finally reached.

But you're probably wondering why I'm sounding so unhappy rather than ecstatic. Let's just say  this day isn't going as planned,  for starters I've just gotten news that Alpha Miles is no longer the alpha of the thunder wolves pack.

Which meant only one thing...His son Brad Robins was now alpha.

Your next question is probably why is that bothering me so much.The truth is Brad Robins is a major jerk!A control freak, a womanizer... a complete good for nothing jerk!

Someone no girl would ever want to meet, okay that's not exactly true, every girl practically drooled over him, throwing themselves his way whenever they got the chance.

In case you're wondering, I'm not one of those girls, I'm the girl who feels like punching him all the time!

Okay so that's not entirely true either, I've had a crush on him my entire life, not even my best friend Aurora , who just happens to be Brad's sister knows about my crush.I guess all that would change after I found out who my mate was.I wasn't sure if I wanted it to change though.

"Happy birthday!"someone screeched causing me to jump in my bed.I was so deep in thought that I  hadn't even realised my room door being opened.

My eyes widened recognizing that voice."Aurora!"I exclaimed shocked."What are you doing here?"

"You don't expect me to be home when its my best friend's nineteenth birthday do you?"

I smiled."I thought you would be preoccupied with your brother ."I confessed.

Aurora's eyes widened as she stared at me blankly."You already heard?"

"If you're talking about Brad becoming the new alpha, then yes I already heard."

"News really does travel fast."

I laughed at that."Yes it does."

She suddenly wiggled her eyebrows at me."So are you excited about finding who your mate is?"

I should of guessed that's what she wanted to say.

"I'm not sure."I said honestly.

"I have a feeling you might be shocked to find out who your mate is."she said suddenly deep in thought.

"Why does it sound like you know something I don't ?"I asked suspiciously.

Her eyes widened for a second but then she smiled."Let's not talk about that.I'm just happy that you're going to find your mate sometime soon."

I narrowed my eyes at her but decided that I should let this pass,at least for now.

"Besides I know how long you've been waiting for this day to come."she added noticing my glare.

"I've waited for this all my life but now I don't know what I really want."I said more to myself than her.

Aurora studied me closely before she took my hands and pulled me put of my room.

"Where are you taking me?"

"We have to find your mate."she said excited.

"What?"I asked pulling my hands out of her grip.

"Trust me Linda , stop being so afraid, finding your mate is one of the best things that will ever happen to you."

"This coming from the one who never wanted to find her mate."I said sarcastically.

She rolled her eyes at me."You're acting like a big baby you know.If you don't want to find your mate then let's go to the welcoming ceremony for Brad becoming our new alpha."

"You mean Brad becoming your alpha not ours."I pointed out.

She sighed."You know what I meant."

"I see what you're doing Aurora, the ceremony is going to be huge, there is a pretty good chance my mate will be there—"

"Why are you so afraid of finding out who your mate is Linda?"she inquired."Is it that you already have feelings for someone else?"

My eyes widened.Why would she ask something like this?Come to think of it she always noticed when I stared at her brother, could she have an idea?

"Its nothing.I just think I'm not ready."I lied then added."If you're insisting so much then let's go to the ceremony."I gave in.

"Finally!"she exclaimed pulling me out my house.

"Aurora something is happening to me."I said in shock holding my head.

"What do you mean?What's wrong?"she asked concerned as we stopped midway in the thick crowd.

"My wolf keeps screaming mate and I keep getting this strong mesmerizing scent."I complained.

Aurora stared at me blankly for a moment before she shook her head."It means your mate is close."

My eyes widened ."I think I should leave."I said even though my whole body and mind protested against it.

"Linda you can't be seriou—"

"Everyone please give a round of applause as we bring to you our new alpha, Brad Robins!".

I looked up to the stage, my heart racing as Brad made an appearance.Then everything seemed to happen so fast , I couldn't seem to stop myself.

"Mate!"I growled unable to stop my feet, without knowing it I was making my way to the stage—towards Brad.

The realization that came afterwards gave me enough strength to stop myself from making a fool of myself in front of everyone.

Brad was my mate!

That just wasn't possible, if he was my mate it meant that I was his and he turned nineteen a few years ago, which meant he knew all this time and kept it from me.

How could he?Why did he do such a thing?

His eyes scanned the crowd and locked with mines, realization crossing his face,he knew that I knew.

I waited so long for this day, to find out that the guy I've been crush  on all these years was none other than my mate, the heartless alpha was  my mate.

What did I ever do to receive this torture?If Brad didn't tell me before it only meant that he didn't want me, was he ashamed to have me as his mate?

I narrowed my eyes at him angrily and he turned his attention to the crowd before him.

How could he ignore me so easily?

"Linda!"Aurora called behind me, grabbing my hands and pulling me away from the crowd towards a quiet area.

"Are you okay?"she asked looking at me.

"You knew didn't you."

"Linda I—"

"Why didn't you tell me?"I demanded feeling hurt that she kept this from me.

"I'm sorry."she apologised."But I had no choice.I promised Brad I wouldn't tell you."

I closed my eyes."I want to be alone."

"But Linda—"Aurora protested.

"You heard her Aurora."Brad cut in.

I opened my eyes immediately to see Brad looking at Aurora.

She narrowed her eyes at him."Be nice."she whispered to him before walking off.

"Didn't you hear me, I want to be alone Brad."

"This is not the kind of response I expected from you."he said, his tongue in cheek studying me closely.

I didn't like to feel his eyes on me, it was already hard to control myself from going insane with wanting to be near him.

He didnt seem to be affected by my presence however.

"Did you expect me to come running into your arms like the other girls?"I questioned .

He chuckled."It seems like my fear of turning you down all this time wouldn't be so hard after all."

What did he mean?

I didn't want to hear him, didn't want to hear him reject me.

"We need to talk."he said stopping me from walking off.

"I don't want to talk to you."I said angrilly.

He grabbed my arms and pushed me up against a tree."Watch your mouth, you're speaking to an alpha.You'll do what I want you to."

My breath caught in my throat, not because of his threat but because of the emotions invading my body by how close we were.He may not have realised it but his body was pressed intimately against mines and his lips were inches away from my lips.I needed all of my self control to keep me from leaning forward and pressing our lips together.I shook the thought out of my head immediately.

"You're not my alpha."I whispered after finding my voice.

His eyes narrowed.I could see my response wasn't a smart choice , it thrilled me however  at how easily I could anger him .

"Like I said we need to discuss our mate problem."he said roughly."And we need to settle the problem now."
