Throat
Ben's POV
I sprinted out the door, leaving a worried and confused Josh behind me. But I had to go, I could feel it in my bones that something was wrong, and if that nightmare had proved anything, I'm either right or going mad.
I flung the door open, allowing it to smash the wall behind it. I skidded to a halt and hailed a taxi. I still wasn't quite ready to get in one again, not after what had happened in the last city, but I knew I needed to get to Grace quickly, and this was the fastest way.
We pulled up shortly outside of Grace's apartment complex, and I pulled at $20 note out of my pocket and told him to keep the change whilst I slid out of my door. I dashed to the door and a buzzed in. Grace had told me the code in case of an emergency, so I could let myself in. This is an emergency, right?
I climbed the stairs two at a time until I reached her floor. I was faced with two doors, but I could hear two male laughs coming from the left one, so I knocked on the right door. I waited for what seemed like minutes until I heard someone walk to the door and unlock it.
The door opened revealing Thomas, her older brother. He looked shocked but then began to smirk and leaned against the door frame. I didn't like that smirk, it looked wrong from all angles. "Yes?" he asked, already exhausted by my presence.
I gulped silently, put my hands in my pockets and asked where Grace was whilst looking over his shoulder to search for any sign of the small girl.
"She's upstairs with her friend Aaron, he's really quite annoying, but I guess anything to get her out whilst I do this," he smirked evilly, then nodded behind me.
I turned around and saw two people begin to walk up the stairs, head to toe in black making their way towards me with menacing faces that I knew were up to trouble. I turned back to look at Thomas whilst the two people stopped behind me.
"You know what, I'll come back later when she's home," I said nervously attempting to turn around but I felt two strong hands grab my shoulders and push me into the apartment.
I fell onto the floor, hands behind me to steady myself. I looked up and saw Thomas begin to edge towards me, holding a baseball bat bashing it against his palm as if for practice. I pushed myself backwards still on the floor, creating distance until my back was pushed against a wall.
With nowhere to go, I sat there, as still as I possibly could, not daring to move for fear of my life. Thomas knelt in front of me, placing the baseball bat at a distance from my head. One swing and I'd be out.
"Stop shaking, how old are you nineteen?" he began.
"Twenty actually" I spat, bad idea.
I watched as his eyes filled with rage and he grabbed my throat, not enough to cut off the air supply, but enough that I found it hard to breathe.
"Listen here you little Newsie," he continued, "I don't like you. I don't like how Grace trusts you more than me. That little girl is more dangerous than you think. So, I think I'm going to take you," He smiled again, his eyes twinkling with delight at our suffering, "I'm going to take you somewhere where they will never find you, then she'll have to come running to me. You'll be out of her life, and you, well you'll never see the light of day again"
"No!" is all I could muster, then he began to hold my throat tighter.
"Oh but I will, and then there is nothing you or any of your friends can do. I want Grace back, I want you to suffer, I want her to suffer, just like she made me suffer, and what best to do that take away the person she'll miss most. She'll come back to me crying. What a way to kill two birds with one stone."
He let go of my throat and I took a few deep breaths. "What did she do?" I asked.
He didn't reply, he just swung his bat...
