Squealing

I walked into the theatre quite content. This morning my brother had decided to sleep in late, so I avoided any unwanted conversations. I opened the door and began walking down the aisle towards the stage where everyone was having their own conversations. Everyone was rather happy for an early Saturday morning. That's when I saw him, sitting on the stage with his legs dangling over the side of the stage was Jeremy Jordan. I began internally freaking out as I made my way towards Jeff C.

I slid into the seat next to Jeff, my jaw still dropped from when I first saw Jeremy. I sunk down in my seat and whispered to Jeff, "Is that really him. Is that..."

"Yup, that is Jeremy Jordan in the flesh."

"What is he doing here?"

"He's our Jack for a while. Dan is taking some time out and Jeremy was in town so I asked him and he said yes."

At this news, I squealed like Josh in the presence of bacon or Sky in the presence of a snapback. I got a multitude of stares from my fellow cast members, but Jeremy just laughed obviously knowing why I squealed.

Jeff slapped his hands on his thighs then hopped out of his seat. He clapped his hands catching everyone's attention then proceeded to tell us that we were running 'The World Will Know'. I ran to my bag that I had dumped in the aisle and quickly pulled out my character shoes and character skirt which I wore in rehearsals to mimic my costume.

I ran up some of the steps by the stage and took my place on the stage. We ran through the scene - but I noticed someone was missing. We struck our ending positions before someone burst through the doors.

Josh. It was Josh. He was sweating profusely, his breathing heavy causing him to pant like a dog. At first, I thought he was just late, then I noticed something clutched in his hands.

He sprinted up the aisle and gave Jeff the note. "They - they have Ben, they t-took him! They have him!" he exclaimed worriedly whilst brushing his hands nervously in his hair tears streaming down his face causing his cheeks to go red and sticky.

"What?" Jeff asked confused but still anxious about what Josh was talking about. By now everyone was crowded around Josh and Jeff, me included.

"Last night Ben left after having a nightmare to Grace's. He didn't come back and then this morning this note was placed under my door" he explained, exasperated. I could tell how frightened he was for his missing best friend. He looked as if he had no sleep. I know that they both wait up at night for one another if they have gone out. It was their thing. Obviously, Josh kept their silent promise.

Everyone turned their heads towards me wanting to know if I knew anything about what had happened. They had a lot of questions, I could see them burning in their eyes, they wanted the truth. They wanted it now.

I was as shocked as they were at the news. I was unsure what to say. But then it clicked. My brother hadn't had a nosebleed at all. It was Ben's blood. His blood was smeared across my apartment floor. Ben's blood. Was smeared across my apartment floor. I took a deep breath, trying to comprehend the situation.

I closed my gaping mouth and told the story from the beginning, starting out from Ben and I's conversation on the bus. I told them about how I was worried about Thomas. Then... then I told them what happened in England.
