Engulfed
Grace's POV
Still black. Darkness was swamping my body, but not for long, not now, I have been through too much to give up now. Light. That's all I could see now as I cracked my eyes open. I wriggled toes. They moved. Thank god. I tried to move my fingers, but something or someone was squeezing them. I squeezed them back. I rolled my head over to one side and saw a big bush of brown hair. Then to the other side. A big bush of red hair. They were obviously asleep, both of them were sat on the floor with their heads resting on the edge of the bed.
I mustered all the strength I could, "Hey losers."
I had taken them a moment to process what had happened, but they looked my way and they both went from sleepy looks to looks of shock and excitement, both of them smiling like idiots.
"Good to have you back kiddo," Sky told me as Josh got up and ran out of the room, probably to get a nurse.
"W-what happened?" I asked, my memory still fuzzy. I felt as if I was forgetting something really important but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"You and Ben got into a car crash a couple days ago," he began before I cut him off.
"Days!" I was so shocked, I'd been asleep for how long! Wait... " Ben, is he okay?"
Before Sky could answer my question the familiar blond walked into my room and engulfed me in a hug. He was pretty beaten up, he had cuts and bruises all over him and he had a slight limp, but he was okay, and that was all the mattered.
He pulled away and kneeled next to me and held my hand. The azure ocean's that once swan in him eyes cascaded down his cheeks. "I'm so glad you're okay -" was all he could get out before he broke down, " I'm so- so sorry, Grace I should have -"
"Ben, it's okay, I'm fine, I can tell nothing is broken and I'm going to be okay, besides it wasn't your fault." He engulfed me in another hug and we only broke apart when a nurse came in.
She shooed the boys out and gave me some pajamas that she said I would be more comfortable in. The boys must have brought them over because they had put some books in a bag and some other essentials, but in true boy fashion, they forgot a hairbrush, probably because none of them uses one.
She unhooked me from the machine that was monitoring me, but I had to keep my IV in as well as my heart rate monitor. I took a moment to look around my room for the first time, and boy was it white, but It felt familiar. Then I realized the obvious flowers scattered around my room as well as cards and on my bed was the throw that I had brought on tour with me. I looked at my side table and my teddy bear that Thomas had gotten me was there as well as my sleep spray - these boys knew me too well.
As soon as she left, about 20 boys filtered into my room each holding presents and flowers. I smiled and waved them over, they all began to sit in various spots in my room, some on my bed and some on the floor and some in chairs. I sat up and got out of bed and fell over, but luckily Josh caught me before I could do more damage. I guess I need to get used to my weak legs for a while.
I sat back on my bed but I didn't lie down, I'd done enough of that. I merely leaned on Ben scared of my back giving in. The boys made me open my presents, which were mostly chocolates, but a few books and little bits and bobs. I was so lucky that I didn't die, that and I had such an amazing group of people who were all by my side in the dark days that followed the crash.
I learned then that they flew the boy who almost got the part of Les (because they auditioned us mixed) over and he had been playing my part, and he'll probably stay in tour with us, but I had been promised me was just an understudy and I would still do 8 shows a week once I was back on my feet.
The feeling of luck engulfed my body once more as I sat surrounded by my favorite people, unhurt and looking after me. I had never felt this way before, not even after what happened back in England. But enough about England, that wasn't home anymore, Home is where people love you, so I guess tour is Home.
