Crutchie
I had to spend the next week stuck in the horrible room. It was so boring. I even wanted to do school work, but I was told that it would exert too much energy. All that I wanted to do was rip my eyes out- at least it would bring some more excitement into the hospital atmosphere.
Sure, the boys did entertain me every day but they had to go eventually. When Ben visited (which was every day) the other boys literally had to drag him to rehearsal. I don't mind, it means he is okay after what happened. I, however, was not.
I was however upset that my brother hadn't visited. It wasn't like we were far, but there was no explanation. Jeff reasoned that he was simply too busy and I didn't want to feel selfish for taking away my brother from the job he adored so much. But I hadn't even had a phone call, did he know I was in a car crash? But even if he did, we spoke every day, it wasn't like him not to call but there was nothing I could do because I was trapped inside the walls of the hospital.
-.x.-
It was now day 8, and I awoke expecting the usual boredom. But no, the nurse came in with a Jolly smile plastered on her face, she would make a great Crutchie.
"Today is the day Grace!" She exclaimed, but I had no idea what. The only time we really did anything special was when I began assisted walking. The blow had injured my legs quite bad, so I needed a bit of assistance in getting back on my feet.
"Sorry, What is?" I questioned.
"You're being discharged today!"
"Wait! I am!"
"Yeah, Ben and Josh are on the way to pick you up."
I couldn't contain my excitement. I was finally getting out of here. I was about to jump off the bed with excitement when the nurse came over and put her hands on my shoulders.
"You're not walking without these, however," She explained whilst walking to the corner of the room to collect a pair of crutches. Guess I'm the Crutchie now.
I looked at her with the do I have to face but she was having none of it. "You need to wear them until your next city. I have booked an appointment for you in the nearby hospital, they'll decide whether you can perform again."
"But that's 2 weeks away!" I moaned but she just looked at me with sorrow.
Just then Ben and Josh walked through the door, Ben still limping. They exchanged glances with the nurse who had gone to fetch the paperwork.
I looked at Ben and asked, "Are they letting you perform with that leg?"
"Not for a week, they're letting me do light rehearsal but nothing more, besides it's just sore."
I could really see the sorrow in his eyes. He looked so desperate to perform, it was like the fact that he couldn't perform numbed him, except it didn't because he was still in
pain.
The nurse came back with the papers, and soon enough we were on our way, slowly. With my crutches and Ben's limp, we didn't move very fast but we got to the car eventually.
I couldn't help but notice that Ben and Josh were smiling like absolute idiots, so I asked them why they were so happy, I mean I know I got out of hospital but it was a weird smile, even weird for Ben and Josh.
"Why are you smiling like idiots?"
"You'll see," was their only response.
