The second the light vanished the trio all blinked, after looking around to check there were no more beams of light about to come hurtling towards them Dan let out a sigh, "That was seriously weird! Let's–" He was cut off by a voice that rang through the air, it didn't seem to come from anywhere in particular but from the atmosphere itself.. It spoke a word, one Dan didn't recognise. His eyes widened and he scrambled up to his feet, apparently his friends did the same because they were all standing up.

"What did you say?" Wynton asked, assuming the voice had been Dan.

"I didn't say anything."

The three looked around panicked then Lia spoke, reaching for an explanation that would make them all more comfortable, "Was that Lightning?" She asked, referring to the dog that's also a member of their group known as the Awesome Ones, but who hadn't joined them on tonight's 'adventure'.

Wynton shook his head as if to get rid of the fear, "Was that you boy?" He called but to no avail, their dog friend hadn't joined them nor learnt to speak human language...

They all fell silent before Dan decided to speak, "It really sounded like someone just said– Um.. Actually I didn't fully catch it, something beginning with a P?"

"Yeah, it sounded similar to pacman." Wynton agreed. Then something caught his eye, "Hey, Dan, by your feet!"

They all looked down and saw a half red, half white ball floating in a small dome of some blue liquid that appeared slimy.

Dan and Lia both gasped in shock, then in a moment of elegance, Dan leaped backwards yelling "Yuck!" Then regaining some composure, leaned in to look at it properly, "What is it?"

While Dan and Wynton stared at the ball and the liquid, Lia had picked up her camera drone and had been fiddling with it, then with another gasp, this time a happier one, announced "Hey, it's working!" Then using her phone to control it, she added, "I need to get a good angle on this."

The boys looked up and smiled, realizing how if Lia's phone and camera were working again, their phones probably were too, then turned back to the orb.

"I think we figured out who that voice was.." Dan murmured.

"Pacman?"

Lia rolled her eyes, "It just sounded like Pacman, I doubt it actually was."

Ignoring Lia, Dan reached out towards the slimy dome.

"You're not gonna touch it are ya?" The blue haired female asked, grossed out at the thought of touching that slimy goop.

It was like Dan didn't even hear as he kept moving his hand towards it, as his hand neared the dome caved in around the area as if it was about to swallow his hand.

Wynton wrinkled his nose up, "Oh, he's touching it!"

Dan put his hand through the goop and grabbed hold of the ball just as the slimy substance popped and the goop went all over his face.

"Ugh!" He grunted as he fell back onto the ground.

Dan sat there in shock as the slime dripped off his face while both Wynton and Lia squeaked out "Gross. Really gross."

The oldest of the three looked down at the ball he held in his hand, then had a thought, "Ugh. Don't tell me you filmed that."

He groaned, looking round at Lia just as she held her camera up and smiled evilly, "Sure did!"

Wynton smirked, "I bet our fans are gonna love it."

Deciding to ignore them, Dan turned back to look at the dual colored sphere he was holding, it was quite small, small enough that he could hold about three of them in just one of his hands, it appeared to have a small gray button in between the red and white halves, he stared at it.

Whilst he stared the other two gathered around closer. "Hey, why don't you try pressing that button Dan?"

Dan looked up at him then nodded and stood up. Quickly he pressed the button then held the ball at arms length away from him expecting something dramatic but all that happened was the ball expanded in size, now it was a similar size to his palm.

The three exchanged glances with each other before Wynton turned and ran a few paces, Dan and Lia turned to watch as he looked around intently, "Um, what are you doing?" Lia asked, somewhat skeptically.

"I'm looking for more." Wynton announced, breaking into a run to start searching other areas of the collision sight closer up rather than with just his eyes from a distance.

Lia nodded in realization, "Me too!" She cheered, also running off.

Leaving Dan alone. He looked down at the ball in his hands that he'd still been holding far away. Cautiously he brought it closer to himself and stared at it intently as if looking at it would reveal its secrets.

He noticed a split around the middle and realizing that gap is probably where it opens, he tried to place his fingernails in the gap and pry it open but no luck. He stopped and just stared at the ball again, half considering pressing the button again and again until something new happened.

Then however, he felt the weirdest urge to throw the ball. Muttering the words "Let's go." To himself he threw it up in the air.

A blue light appeared from it, which after a moment took the form of a dragon-like creature.

It had orange scaly skin, leathery ocean blue wings, horns, a yellow stomach, a tail with a massive burning flame on the end and long white claws and teeth.

The ball it appeared out of fell to the ground as Dan, Wynton and Lia all screamed at the sight of the monster that had appeared in front of them.

Grabbing the ball up, Dan yelled out "Run!" The dragon-like beast flew and landed in front of them, blocking their path. "Ah! Run the other way!" Once again though it flew and blocked their path.

The three stood still other than for the amount they were all trembling.

The dragon let out a growl and as Dan stared up at it he came to a realization.

"Um, guys, don't be afraid. It's alright. I think it's trying to say something." He told them, taking a step forward towards the dragon. Dan and Wynton clung to each other in fear as Dan took another few steps forward and approached the dragon, holding a hand out to it. "I'm Dan. Dan Kouzo. And you're..?"

The creature shook its head and roared out a single word, "CHARIZARD."

"You're Charizard? Okay... What are you, a type of dragon?" He asked, only to be met with more roaring of parts of that same name broken up into pieces. Realizing, Dan asked "You can only say your name?"

When the creature replied using the same syllables, Dan's realization was confirmed. "I get it.." He paused for a moment, getting the feeling this was a beginning of some sort, "You and I are.. Partners now...?" He asked, feeling both sure and unsure at once.

Charizard let out a loud roar and gave a nod, Dan held up the ball the creature had come out of, facing the side with the button towards the dragon. The dragon reached forward a scaly clawed hand and touched the ball, then out of nowhere the ball opened again and in a cloud of red sparkles Charizard seemed to shrink and disappear inside. While trying to shield his eyes from the sparkles, Dan dropped the ball on the ground again. He crouched down and picked it up and smiled at it.

Then a yell coming from his friend Wynton surprised him, "Found one!" He called over to Dan waving a ball in the air. Just as Dan turned to look, he was distracted by another shout.

"Me too! It's red and white and cool and goopy!" Lia cheered.

The three burst out laughing.

"There's gotta be more of these.. Uh what are we gonna call them?" Dan asked.

"Well, they're like monsters and when they're inside these balls they can fit in your pocket so... Pocket Monsters maybe?" Wynton suggested.

"Yeah!" Lia nodded, "We can call them Pokemon for short!"

"Hey, that must've been what that voice said! Pokemon, not pacman!"

The other two nodded, "Let's go look for them!" Wynton agreed with Dan's original statement.

The three all nodded and ran in different directions to look for more of these strange creatures called Pokemon, while Dan ran to look, he stared down at the ball in his hand and grinned, "This is the craziest birthday ever!"
