BEVERLY HAD CALLED Mary the following morning bright and early. The red-head did not give too much information to the brunette. All she did was tell Mary to come over as fast as she could. She obliged, and was now sitting on the metal stairs outside Beverly's apartment.
"You know, I don't see how those could be good for you." Mary muttered as she watched her best friend take in a drag of a cigarette. "And what are we even waiting for?"
Beverly sighed. "I've told you before, I have not seen any hard evidence against them. And we're waiting for the guys so I can show you all something."
"You know, since I got here first, can't I just see the big surprise first?" Mary whined.
Beverly rolled her eyes, but before she could say anything, the sound of the boys' voices quickly approaching prevented her. She immediately tossed the cigarette down the side of the bannister and began to run down the stairs. Mary followed loosely behind, for Beverly was racing towards the ground too fast to keep up.
Once Beverly made it to the edge of the grass, she was met with the group of guys. Mary slowly approached from behind her. "I-I need to show you something." Beverly said.
"What is it?" Eddie asked.
From behind him, Richie spoke up, "More than we saw at the quarry?" Mary rolled her eyes.
"Shut up! Just shut up, Richie!" Eddie yelled back.
Beverly continued, unfazed by Richie's comment, "My dad will kill me if he finds out that I had boys in the apartment."
"W-w-we'll leave a lookout." Bill said. "Richie, just s-s-stay here."
Richie threw his arms up, clearly offended. "Woah, woah, woah, what if her dad comes back?" He called out. Mary let out a laugh as she began followed Eddie up to Beverly's apartment.
"Just do what you always do," Stan replied while standing at the bottom of the staircase. "Start talking."
Everyone followed Beverly through her apartment, but stopped short at her bedroom. Her face showed nothing but fear. Mary looked at her friend, and then back at the dark hallway stretched in front of them. "In there. . ." The red-head muttered, giving a small point to her bathroom.
"What is it?" Stan asked.
"You'll see."
Slowly, the group began to shuffle towards the bathroom door. By now, Bill had taken the lead. Eddie was also mumbling, "Great, bringing us to the bathroom. You know that 89% of the worse accidents occur in the bathroom and kitchen. And that's where all the bacteria and fungi are-"
"Eddie, shut up." Mary muttered. Everyone was on edge, and his continuous mumbling about hygiene was getting on her last nerve.
The moment Bill opened the bathroom door, a red light engulfed all of them and the area around them. "I knew it!" Eddie whimpered, while also making a gagging sound. Mary shuddered as she caught sight of the red liquid dripping from every possible corner of the bathroom. Everything was drenched, and all it did was remind her of the clown that haunted her nightmares.
"Do you see it?" Beverly asked.
"Yes." Bill replied.
Stan, from beside Mary, asked the burning question everyone had, "What happened in here?"
"My dad couldn't see it, I thought that I might be crazy."
Ben piped up, "Well if you're crazy, then we're all crazy."
"We c-c-c-can't leave it like this." Bill stated. He then took a step forward into the bathroom with a determined look on his face. Mary was the next to follow him. She pushed past Eddie and Beverly, and took the spot next to Bill. The two shared a smile before everyone else joined them.
The whole group of kids began to engage in an absolute cleaning frenzy. Mary somehow bypassed the stench, and managed to put in a great amount of effort in cleaning the bathroom. Every time she caught sight of Eddie with a clothespin on his nose, she couldn't help but laugh a little.
Towards the end of the cleaning session, most of the group members had begun to take out the trash bags filled to the brim with dirty tissues and towels. Mary had followed Eddie outside the bathroom, and outside the apartment. They both tossed their garbage into the large cans near the front door.
"How's your leg?" He asked, to break the silence, as they started walking back towards the bathroom.
Mary glanced down at her bandaged calf. "It's fine. I cleaned it when I got home last night. Hey, thanks for the bandages and peroxide again."
"I'm just glad that your leg is okay. I have no idea how I didn't notice it at the quarry."
"I'm pretty good at hiding things." She laughed.
By now, the two had made it back to bathroom. That was when Mary noticed Beverly and Bill standing near the bathtub. The two were laughing together, and standing close to each other. For some odd reason, Mary felt a pang of jealousy. She didn't know what to think of it.
"Are we good?"

THE LOSER'S CLUB was now riding away from Beverly's house listening to Richie complain about having to wait for all of them to finish. "No, I love being your personal doorman!" He yelled while riding circles around the other members. "Really could you idiots have taken any longer?"
"Shut up, Richie." Bill called back.
Richie laughed. "Oh okay trash the trash-mouth, I get it. Hey I wasn't the one scrubbing the bathroom floor imagining the sink went all Eddie's mom's vagina on halloween."
"She didn't imagine." Mary spat back, watching him ride around them.
Bill stopped riding. "I saw something too."
"You saw blood?" Stan asked, while also stopping his bike.
Bill shook his head. "Not blood. I saw G-G-Georgie. . . It seemed so real, I mean it seemed like him but there was this. . ."
"Clown." Eddie finished. "Yeah, I saw him too."
Mary turned to face Bill. She recalled the conversation he had with him just the day before. How he hoped he would never see the clown, but then saw it that night. "I saw it too." She said.
"Wait," Richie said, holding a hand to his chest. "Can only virgins see this stuff? Is that why I'm not seeing this shit?"
Mary rolled her eyes. "You're the most immature person I've ever met."
"Eat my shorts, Harrington."
Eddie took a step forward, and metaphorically cut through their bickering. "Oh shit, that's Belch Huggins car."
Mary glanced to her right to see Belch's blue car. She let out a sigh.
"We, we should probably get outta here."
"Wait. Isn't that the home schooled kids bike?" Richie noticed.
Mary nodded. "Yeah, that's Mike's."
"We have to help him!" Beverly said.
Richie looked at her with a shocked expression. "We do?"
"Yes!"
