Chapter One
Sky's P.O.V
I fixed the saddle, as I hopped onto the mustang horse. I gripped the reins and lashed them, hard but not too. He trotted out of his stable, chewing on some hay. The evening breeze was beautiful. It was lucky that we had this weather. Near Jin's castle, it's usually rainy and we have tornados. Anyways, Queen Aphmau and King Jin assigned me to spy the border, making sure no one from Nick's castle evaded. Yeah, we are enemies. I veered Astro to the left, where the wishing well was. We keep our precious treasures there, at the bottom of it. I made sure nobody stole it. I peeked at the well, so see a green flashing light. That meant the well was safe, and so was our gold and diamonds. I continued to scout the border, until I saw three silhouettes in the background. I cringed and realised it was Sub and Ty and...someone unknown. I waited for them to get closer, until we were nose to nose.
"Who's the newcomer?" I growled, whipping a glare at him. I watched him shiver in fear, tears foaming in his eyes.
"We found him near OUR training grounds!" Ty hissed.
"We are going to bring him to the torture room." Sub added. I nodded, agreeing with his decision.
"Will he die?" I quired. His dread grew bigger, as he began whimpering, the tears leaking. Sub turned to too look at him.
"Maybe. Let's see how strong he is." He wailed in fear, as they dragged him away. I leaped back onto my horse, glaring into the sunset.
He deserved it. No, I am not evil, but he is a threat. He did look like a peasant, so I wonder what he was doing? Probably being stupid. I finished my duty, as a slice of the moon rested in the dark sky. I fetched an apple from my pocket, and tossed it into Astro's mouth, stroking his mane.
"Have a good night, bud." I crooned. I yawned, cupping my hands around my mouth. I entered the castle, watching Jin and Aphmau watching a slave...wait...it was the one that Sub and Ty found. He was tasting the food, making sure it wasn't poisonous. When he was finished (It wasn't poisonous) I walked up to Jin and Aphmau. They seemed very eager to eat their food. I walked up to them with caution, and bowed.
"I am finished my duty." I mumbled. Jin took a bite of his salad.
"Very good. You may rest." Jin said, bluntly. I nodded, and turned around.
"Knight Sky." Aphmau called. I peered behind my shoulder and walked up to her.
"Yes?" I grilled, fixing my knight hat. Her purpled hair shimmered in the moonlight, as I waited for an answer, but she said nothing.
"Yes, ma'am?" I repeated. I didn't want to annoy the king. He would throw me a temper if I annoyed his wife. Even him.
"Do you know Brotato?" She finally spoke. I looked up into her baby blue eyes.
"Yes." I replied. He was about 16 years old. I think he's training to be a knight.
"Will you be his mentor?" Jin bellowed. My eyes snapped open larger and looked up at him.
"Are you serious!? Er...I mean, really?" I stammered. Aphau smiled, but not Jin.
"Yes. You are a very experienced knight. Brotato has already done his prayer for the whole day. He needs you. Will you train him?" The queen explained.
"O-of course." I stuttered, still processing what was happening. Jin nodded, placing his golden staff away.
"Your training begins at dawn. You are 21, and I am sure you can be a mentor, right?" He challenged, but a tint of mock in his voice. I wanted to yell, but I held my tongue back.
"You may rest." Aphmau whispered. I bowed to her, thanking her. I sheathed my sword in my knight uniform, and walked upstairs to my room. I bumped into someone, who was looming over me.
"So, Sky I heard that you have an apprentice?" The knight growled. I whipped a glare at him.
"What do you want, Barney? You have your own!" Barney just shrugged, and stomped away. But he turned and said something.
"I have nightguard." He hissed. I was shocked.
"Already? But...only the knights that are..." I couldn't finish.
"Good? I know!" Barney sniffed, storming away. I bristled in annoyance. He would always brag about how wonderful he is! I wish the king would just chastise him for being disrespectful to his fellow knights! I suddenly felt a stab of tiredness, as my eyes began to close. I opened the spruce door, that lead to my room, and I sat on my bed. I placed my head on my white pillow. A docile breeze swept in the room. Man, I just can't believe that the weather is like this! I wish it was always peaceful like this. But it's not.
