IV
Welcome to the point in my writing career where I secretly rant in my writing. If you look close enough, you can even find my life story. Fun.
This chapter is long for the sole reason of the long description of scenery. I would draw a picture of it but I suck at drawing so no thanks. Sorry.
Thomas, Janus, and the two new sides walked down the hall in silence.
Despite the fact that all three boys speed-walk, they still had to jog a bit to keep up with the only girl. "Flight! Slow down!" Fight called out. Flight looked back and saw how fast she was walking. She muttered a small apology and slowed down.
"Sooooo. Fight, Flight. Do you guys have names or...." Thomas started.
The two children looked at eachother then back at Thomas, "We uh... Don't want to say our names..."
Janus smiled. Just like Virge. "Hey, that's okay. Names are overrated anyways. Any nicknames or prefered pronouns?"
"I'm he/him, she's she/her. Simple as that," Fight said.
Janus and Thomas looked at each other, feisty boi. "Do you have any nicknames? It's kinda getting annoying to type Fight and Flight over and over again," Thomas shrugged.
"What?"
"What?"
Everyone looked at Thomas like he was planning something. "Okayyyy..... I guess you could call me... Uh... Speedy!" Flight, Speedy said.
"Speedy?" Janus asked.
"Speedy! Because I walk fast..." Speedy muttered.
She's getting anxious. Janus knew this. He had seen Virgil done it a thousand times, "That's okay. I like that name. It suits you! What about you Fight?"
"I don't know a nickname for me... Flight is really good at nicknames."
They fell into silence for a bit. They were getting closer to Virgil's old room.
"I know! Ruby! There's this show called Steven Universe and I'll have to get you two to watch it. But you and this character named Ruby have the same personality!" Thomas pointed.
"Oh. Uh. Okay! So I'm Ruby, I guess," Fight, Ruby said.
Janus smiled. Ruby and Speedy. A nice pair. They made it to Virgil's old door. It looked like any other door, like it used to look before the split. Except now the doorknob was a new gold color. The door was black like usual, but now had purple and orange swirls instead of just purple. It gave off a halloween vibe. Well more of a halloween vibe.
"This looks like it. Do you want us to go inside with you?" Thomas asked.
The two siblings nodded. Janus smiled, They are just like he was. Just like Virgil. Janus tried the door. It didn't budge. Of course, there was always a trick to getting inside. But what was it?
Ruby walked up and grabbed the door knob. He got up right next to the door with both hands on the knob and pulled up. The door clicked and opened.
"How- how did you know how to open it? There was always a trick to it that I forgot," Janus said. He was absolutely bamboozled. Janus always forgot how to open the door, even when the door moved to the light sides. Even Remus kept forgetting, he just always kicked the door down.
"I- I don't know. Instinct I guess..." Ruby muttered. He opened the door and the three sides plus their host went inside. The room was divided into two.
On the left side of the room, there was a purple twin sized bed in the corner. It had purple sheets with a black spider web design with a variety of purple pillows on top, a fluffy white blanket sat on top of it. Right next to the bed was a simple bedside table that had a simple lamp. The lamp had a white lampshade with a black spider web design. A large dresser sat against the wall with eight drawers. Six small ones on top and two long ones of the bottom. On top of the dresser was a mirror with a set of shelves on either side. The shelves were covered with small nick nacks, funko pops, and even a few skeleton versions of animals. There was a crow and a bat. Above the bed were gaming posters and posters of bands, even a few album covers were on the wall. There was ukulele, guitar, and violin hung up on the wall as well, their respective cases could be seen in the corner. A small door was off to the side, it was a plain white door with nothing interesting other than it was small and out of the way.
On the right side of the room, there was once again a twin sized bed, this one was just orange. The plaid orange sheets were covered by multiple orange pillows and a black fluffy blanket. Next to the bed was the exact same bedside table as before, just with a black lampshade on the lamp. Instead of a dresser there was a desk with art supplies underneath it. Watercolors, colored pencils, canvases, oil and acrylic paints, pastels, sketchbooks, all of it. Above the bed were shelves and posters. The shelves were covered with books and journals, there was even a quill set. The posters were of animes, movies, and even a few disney posters. Instead of a small door off to the side, there was a regular sized door, nothing strange about it.
In the middle of the room was a grey circle rug that covered the carpet. There was a window and when you looked outside, it was raining despite the forecast being clear. There were plain grey curtains that were pulled to the side. The walls were a light grey, a nice calming color. There was a rim at the top of the room with lights coming from it, probably a bunch of LED strips. above the window sill was a clock that always moved, it was impossible to tell the actual time.
(I hope that actually made sense- I don't have anything to reference from- if you need anything cleared up, please tell me-)
Janus smiled when walking into the room. He smiled at the similarities. The album covers, the spider web designs, the Disney posters, the journals. Janus wanted to cry again. Virgil was like a son to him. A son that he loved and cared for. A son that left but then came back. A son that- A small sob escaped Janus. The two anxious sides stopped marveling at the room in front of them and turned towards Janus. Janus smiled at them besides the tears that were falling down his face, "You two explore. I'll be fine! I promise!"
The two children continued to explore the room, this time their excitement was died down.
Thomas made his way over to Janus, "Hey, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. I promise. It's just, their room. It's has some similarities to Vee's. I miss him."
"I understand. I mean a part of me basically died. Hey, how about to get your mind off of that, you answer my questions. Huh? How does that sound?" Thomas offered. Janus just nodded, watching the two young sides.
"Why is it raining outside that window, why is there a window in the first place?"
"It's something from Virgil's room. He always said that the rain calmed him down so for his birthday a while back, Remus conjured a window up for him where it's always raining."
"Okay. Do you think their sexualities are different? Like I guess Ruby could still be just gay, but would Speedy be lesbian?"
"I don't know. You would just have to ask them."
Thomas seemed to have run out of questions for Janus. Any other questions he had should probably answered by Logan. Thomas watched as Speedy walked over to her bed. She climbed on top of it with ease and grabbed the ukulele. It was a simple light purple ukulele. She strummed it a few times, tuned it by ear. She sat down and played a song. Janus recognized the song as "You Are My Sunshine."
Thomas smiled and sat down next to her, "You're really good."
"Thanks... I guess..."
Ruby walked over to the door. He noticed a light switch outside the door so he flicked it. Light came out from under the door so he opened the door. Inside was a small walk in closet that was full of clothes. "Huh. Cool," Ruby said before closing the door.
"Hey Speedy, what's in that small door thing over there?" Ruby asked.
"Uh... I don't know..." She put the ukulele back where it was on the wall and walked over to the small door. She knelt down and opened it. "Woah..." Inside was a small staircase that led down. Down the stairs was a small loft complete with blankets and books, even a small white noise machine. The roof of the small loft was covered in fairy lights that were connected to a small light switch on the wall.
She climbed out of her small room and back onto her bed, "A small reading nook, loft, thing."
Thomas clapped, "Well. Now that we've found your rooms, well room, do you two want to go watch The Dragon Prince with me in the living room?"
"Sure!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Do you also want to meet the other sides? Try and be friends with the people who live here with you?" Janus asked.
"Uh... Sure..." Speedy said.
"Okay. Well, Thomas, you go start The Dragon Prince and I'll go get the others, okay?" Janus suggested.
"Sounds like a plan!" Thomas said.
And with that, Thomas led the two children towards the living room.
Bruh- I almost started to cry while writing this. It got sad-
Also I hate scary things- Like HATE scary things, yet here I am. Watching Stranger Things. Technically I'm not watching it, I'm listening to it while it plays on the TV. I'm actually typing and occasionally glancing up.
Also also, I dont have an upload schedule. My motivation comes and goes too quickly. So I kinda just post whenever I finish a chapter.
