Chapter 14

*Riddhi Pov*

"Sit for a minute, Riddhi." Some co-worker said, dragging me away from the items I am arranging on their appropriate stalls.

What is her name? I thought, but then shook my head. I am unable to remember anyone's name no matter what and all I could do is do the work I was asked.

I am not being able to say anything else unless I am asked. Everywhere I can only think about him and the pain but nothing else.

"You just worked two whole month's work in one month." She commented before making me sit down near the other co-workers.

"Our manager is rude, but you need to feel that scared and do everything he asks immediately." Some guy said laughing.

"She already worked here, Dude. You need not worry for her." Someone else said and I felt dizzy inside my head like everyday when someone is talking near me or to me.

I just want to be alone which I actually am. My parents are angry at me and the person who was everything left me. Who is there at all?

What are you thinking, Riddhi? Will you leave everything just like that? I asked myself while rubbing my forehead feeling the headache which didn't left from the day he left me.

"Really? Then I am sure she will be fine." Another someone said and they started talking to each other while saying a word or two to me but I just stared at the table.

"Are we boring you?" I heard the girl asking who brought me here.

"No!" I mumbled and then heard them sighing.

"Riddhi? You are still here? But I thought you will be with Shiv on the tour." I heard a voice and turned to see my bench mate walking near to me.

"I thought you are the one sitting here from the counter but I was not sure." She added smiling.

"How are you?" I asked standing up.

"I am fine! How are you? And why are you working here? I thought Shiv made you leave the jobs." She replied frowning.

"Are you her friend? Please make her take some rest. She is working like eighteen hours from the time shop opens and until it closes. Even our manager is not saying anything." The girl said to which Rose nodded frowning and held my hand.

She started walking, dragging me with her and made me sit near her car. I stared at the floor and nothing else.

"What happened, Riddhi?" she asked, lifting my chin.

"He... he... he left me. For... for Sailu." I replied stuttering in a whisper.

"That bitch! She did what we all feared. Was he stupid or what? I am sure he is." She started cursing both of them, but I just put effort in controlling the tears feeling tired to even cry.

"Where are you staying now? Come to my house." She said, holding my hand.

"No! I am fine here." I said, shaking my head.

"Ok! Why are you killing yourself with all that work like they are saying? You still have a year to study and then you will have a great life." She said sighing.

"I... I don't know whom, to say this but... but I don't feel like living suddenly sometimes. I don't want to do something stupid and drowned myself into the work." I explained, feeling I should tell someone about this problem.

She gasped and held my hands tightly before hugging me. I let a few tears flow feeling ashamed that I am having such thoughts.

"Ok! Work all you want, but if you get such thoughts again or in more level, then you need to contact me and then we will go to a doctor." She said standing up with a hard expression.

"Ok!" I mumbled nodding.

"Good! Now, here is my number. Call me whenever you need anything. You don't know how many will be here for you, Riddhi. You always helped us in studies when we get doubts without being selfish. We wished to be your best friends, but you never wished to." she said, sighing and left after I entered the store.

"Is everything ok?" manager uncle asked when I walked across his room.

"Yeah! I finished that work. Is there anything else?" I asked, turning towards him.

"Why don't you come inside?" he asked, walking inside his room and I followed him.

"Is something wrong?" I asked him feeling terror thinking I may lose the room.

"No! It is just that you are working overtime for me. Do you know that? I even have to pay extra for that time." He said folding his hands.

"I... It is okay if I am not paid for that, but let me work even at that time." I pleaded him and he sighed shaking his head.

"I am allowing you and even encouraging you to work all this because I know you need it." He said nodding to himself and I left the room frowning.

"Good night, Riddhi." Everyone wished me when they walked outside the store and I slowly started cleaning the areas to be able to arrange other things by morning.

"I need to go home soon today. Why don't you go?" Watchmen uncle asked, smiling and I nodded, knowing well I can't make him late.

"Night watchmen must be here, right?" I asked him frowning.

"Don't worry, dear. He will be here within a few minutes." He said, assuring me and I left the store.

"Surprise? You are here early today." Café uncle said, smiling when I entered the gate.

"Yeah!" I said, giving him a small smile.

"By the way my wife prepared something new today and wished for all of us to taste. We are thinking about the opinion of an outsider. Will you join us?" he asked smiling.

"Me? But..." I started saying, but couldn't get a reason to reject.

"Come one! She is not bad at these." He said, joking and walked me into the café.

"Look who is here to taste your special cake?" he called out and Aunty walked towards the counter smiling.

"Great! I will bring the cake right now." She said rushing inside the kitchen.

"Just say it is good." He whispered chuckling and I nodded.

"It is great!" I mumbled enjoying the cake.

"He asked you to say that right?" she asked frowning.

"No! It is really great." I replied nodding.

"Then have another two pieces." She said placing them on my plate ignoring my protest.

"We know we both were not that close to you even during this whole month. We both are of a kind who don't get close to someone easily and it may even take a whole year too. But we couldn't take that much with you." Aunty said smiling.

"Yeah! Our sons will be here soon after enjoying their school holidays in my wife's parents home. And they have a habit of disturbing everyone. I hope you will not mind." Uncle said smiling.

"This is your place, Sir." I said staring at them.

"Good then! And my Dad already gave me this month's rent cutting from your salary." He said when I stood up.

"Are you gossiping against me?" I heard a voice and turned to see the manager walking inside the café.

"No! I was telling her about the rent and she is looking confused." Café uncle said smiling at him.

"That's because I didn't give her salary today as I needed to make some phone calls." Manager said walking towards me.

"I called the store owner and he set the limit for overtime. Here is your salary." He said giving me the money.

"This much?" I asked him in shock.

"Yes! No one does overtime like this and that too during college holidays. So, we pay more for them." He explained.

"Thank you!" I whispered, still staring at the money in shock.

"When will my grandsons will be here? I can't wait anymore." He said smiling at his family and sat at the table.

"Within a week for sure." They started talking when I stood at my place for a few minutes.

I stared at them before walking outside the café and took the stairs to reach my room which I paid the rent with my money.

I earned these? I thought, staring at the money and sat on the bed. I will be fine! I thought hugging myself feeling some little heaviness leaving from inside.

"I will be fine!" I mumbled to myself again before lying on the bed and drifted off into sleep holding the money to my chest.

*Shiv Pov*

"I am fine, Mom! There was just a weak signal in the area we were camping all these days." I said assuring my Mom again.

"Thank god! I was really worried because I thought Riddhi would definitely make a call to us knowing we will worry." She said and I sat still on the chair inside a restaurant.

"Riddhi?" I asked in a whisper.

"Yes! Whenever you don't find time to call me during weekends, she always does and gives me reasons that you are busy with studies but I know you must be enjoying them with your friends. You are always weak for friends from the time you are a kid." She said laughing, but not a word left from my mouth.

"Give phone to her, Shiv. It's been too long since I talked to her." She asked and I closed my eyes.

"She has not even lifted her phone." She added and I opened my eyes in shock.

"She is not lifting your call?" I asked her frowning.

"Yes! Is something wrong?" she asked in a worried tone.

"I... I broke up with Riddhi, Mom." I replied taking a deep breath.

"What?" she shouted and I pulled the phone away.

"Mom! We didn't seem to work out and good for each other. And..." I didn't finish not hearing anything from her.

"And what?" she asked and I frowned at her anger tone.

"And I like someone else. You remember Sailu right?" I asked, glancing at her who is standing near the food counter.

"You left Riddhi for Sailu?" Mom asked in a tone like she doesn't believe me.

"Yes, Mom!" I replied, to which she stayed silent.

"I will talk later." She said hanging up and I frowned at the mobile before remembering Mom's word regarding Riddhi not lifting her phone.

I nodded to myself and dialed the phone of the house and waited for her pick it up but she didn't even after I tried for five times.

"What happened, Shiv?" Sam asked returning to the table with the food.

"Riddhi is not lifting her phone as per my Mom and she is not lifting even the house phone." I said staring at him.

"So? She is not a kid right?" Sailu said settling beside me.

"Yeah! She must have found a place to live." Sam offered.

"That early?" I asked them frowning.

"Why not? Cheap rooms are easy to be found and we all know she is hell bent on saving all the money." Sailu replied rolling her eyes.

"And are you going to sit here and think about her? Really?" she added, staring at me with a frown.

"No! My Mom just brought her name." I said, looking outside the restaurant knowing that I can't say the truth about how I am thinking about her in the middle whenever I am being alone.

"Forget about her, Shiv. She was your past and I will be your future where as this tour is present, which is going to finish soon." Sailu said, smiling at me and pecked my lips like everyday during this tour.

"You are right!" I said, nodding and pecked her cheek.

She will be fine! I thought to myself and started talking to them when Charlie joined us. We will definitely miss this tour when it ends.
