Erika stopped.
Her mind was blank.
For once she didn't know how to react.
"Yes no maybe?"
"Probably not..." she thought, she let her mind choose and replied Skylie,
"No."
"You like Carter then?" Skylie teased.
Erika sighed at her dumb friend and went to class.
They were the last one to enter, so it didn't take her long to look around the classroom. She found out Zayne wasn't in her Math class. She took her seat around a corner and waited until her mind suffocated in the boring world of math.
"Hey, Eri!" Skylie called as class ended.
Erika felt like she could fall asleep any minute but she made an 'I'm not sleepy it's just you' voice and replied, "Yes?"
"Is it okay if you'd come over to my place today after your Music Club?"
"Okay, see you at your place."
Skylie ran out of the classroom as Erika went to the clubroom, as she waited for the others and start practising for the song for the school festival.
Later...
"Okay everyone, so we'll be ending here, bye!" Maryse, the club leader said.
As they left the clubroom, Erika took out her phone and looked at her text messages
Skylie: eri had u left yet
Skylie: eri bro said zayne is coming oof
Skylie: eri heard it'll be raining do u have an umbrella
She looked out the window, not a single drop of rain. "Skylie you got to be kidding me," she thought.
"Erika Monet," a voice said from behind, "Come to the Student Council room, now."
She was shocked as her heartbeat stopped for a second or less.
She nodded and looked back. It was the Student Council President, Klarissa. Her voice sent shivers down her spine.
She followed her to the SC room. It was filled with books, with a wooden conference table in the middle.
She remembered the last time she came here. It was last year when she was invited to join the Student Council, she refused as she wanted to join the music club instead.
The Guidance Councillor, Ms Troner, was on the side of the table, her icy voice said, "Erika Monet, please take a seat. Klari, you may go."
Klarissa nodded and left the room.
"There are two things I wanted to tell you. First is about your club," Ms Troner's eyes went back to Erika as her cold voice said, "Maryse said she wants you club leader next year, do you accept?"
Erika nodded in relief, "Yes, Ms Troner."
"And the other thing," Ms Troner continued, "About Zayne Arens. He is your friend, right?"
"Crap." Erika thought as she muttered, "We just met."
"Keep an eye on him for me," Ms Troner said, "There are some problems in his family causing his antisocial personality. I trust you as a potential Student Council member."
"Yes, Ms Troner," Erika replied.
"Good, you may leave."
Erika bowed politely as she left the room.
"Family Problems?" she thought to herself, "But what?"
Just before she left the door, she stopped.
"Oh dammit."
The rain was pouring outside, she didn't have an umbrella or raincoat.
"Guess I gotta wait until the rain stops."
"I heard the rains gonna get heavier and heavier!" A boy from the lower forms said.
"Then we better go!" Another said.
"Dang..." Erika said to herself.
"Need a lift?" A soft voice said. Erika turned, and found Zayne stamding from behind her.
"Oh... um... hi," Erika said, "And no thanks I don't need an umbrella to cross."
Zayne ignored her and opened his umbrella, "Come on."
"Fine! Whatever."
"Where are you going?"
"Skylie's."
"Same here."
They walked to the bus stop together, she suddenly recalled what Ms Troner said, she didn't mention it in order to not keep him down.
After they arrived at their stop, Erika was yet extremely wet.
"Dang... I need a hair dryer," she joked. Zayne smiled, they pressed the doorbell, instead of the 'ding dong' they expect to hear, it was Skyler's voice screaming "YEET", she thought she was hearing stuff, so she pressed it again.
"YEET!"
"What is wrong with the Wisterias..." Erika thought.
Since Erika was leaning on the door, she fell down once Skyler opened the door.
"Hey Eri, Hey Z," Skyler smiled as he held Erika up. Zayne looked the other way round.
"Come in! What do you need?"
Zayne smiled thinly. "She needs a hair dryer."
"I need a hair dryer," Erika echoed.
"Okay... I'll get Skylie."
Skylie came out stroking her hair, "Someone called me? Oh, Eri! Come over!" Skylie dragged Erika by the arm into her room as they talked about their own stuff.
"Hey Z, there's this new book I wanna show you, what about come over?"
Zayne nodded as he followed Skyler to his study room. They chatted with each other.
The two groups avoided each other until they left. Erika won't look into Zayne's eyes.
"See you at school!" Skyler exclaimed as Zayne and Erika left the door, Zayne went to the bus stop, while Erika left to her home.
"Zayne's...problems?"
Erika thought to herself, lying on her bed. Her electric purple hair laid across, as the clock ticked her to sleep.
