I was sad that I had to separate from my sister but it was worth it,at least she was safe for now. I was shoved into the street with a couple of other kids, we were forced into a line then we began our walk to the castle.

The castle looked intimidating,towering above us all,built with beautiful marbles making it look beautiful yet it has a dark aura emitting from it,this made me and some others to stop and look around in awe but it was stopped by the guards who started shoving us into a large hall,this was where we were briefed on the rules and appointed our duties.

I looked around the hall as it was beautiful and large enough to host the whole city,everyone stilled when a female vampire came in and walked gracefully to the raised podium, something I can never pull off.

"Good day to you all,I know you are all excited to be a part of the selection, as it is such an honor for you." I sneered at her statement, then she carried on.

"Without wasting anymore time,I am Lauren, the head staff,you will all get to know me soon enough. The rules here are not much,so here we go."

Rule one:carry out your various tasks diligently.

Rule two:obey your Masters or Mistress, that's if you are appointed to one.

Rule three:never try to escape

Rule four:do not break any of the rules

Rule five:follow all the rules

After she was done giving the rules,she asked "does anyone have a question?" Suddenly someone shouted from the back "what if we break the rules?" Then Lauren's smile slowly disappeared and she replied "you don't want to know". A shudder ran up my back,I couldn't help it.

Lauren smiled once again " we don't have much time,I'll mention your names and your duty " she started mentioning some names and their duties,when I heard some people's duty,I started to pity them.

Suddenly I heard my name "Lily Brooks,you work as a personal servant to Prince Darius",upon hearing that my heart shattered,I looked around and saw most of the eyes on me giving me pitiful looks,I looked up to Lauren and she gave me a sad smile and continued with the list,I was at the brink of tears but I sucked it up.

Why did I have to get the worst vampire to be my Master,rumors says that his last servant committed suicide, to escape from him because she couldn't take it anymore,which was three years ago,since then no one was appointed to be his personal servant.

" You will all be shown to the servant quarters and servant dining area,if you have any questions you can ask me today or tomorrow. Remember to follow all the rules",she said before walking away.

We were led to our sleeping quarters,the  quarters are done separately thereby separating the males from the females. In the females quarters it was just like a huge hall,a bit huger than the hall we were orientated. The hall had lots of beds,side tables and wardrobes, it is done in a way that each bed had its own side table and a small wardrobe, on the furthest part of the room,there is a huge wardrobe, with various maid outfits and flat pumps ranging from the small sizes to the big sizes and also night wears.

I learnt that there were two types of maid outfits,one for casual maids and another for maids with Masters or Mistress. I have a small stature so took the smaller size uniforms and pumps,then took them to a vacant bed. I put my clothes in the wardrobe and lay down on my bed,staring at the ceilings lost in my thoughts when a girl snapped me out.

"Hey there, my name is Margaret, you can call me Maggie" she smiled at me,while she was introducing herself I accessed her,she was taller than me but not to tall, she had freckles scattered on her face,cute dimples and to top it all she was a brunette.
"Hi I'm lily" I said in between smiles. "Ooh I know you,you are that unlucky girl who got to be Prince Darius personal servant, everyone is talking about you" she said and I covered my face with my palm because my face became heated with embarrassment. Margaret noticed my distress and quickly added,"just do what ever the prince wants you to do,I'm 100 percent sure you will survive" she said to me trying to make me feel better and it worked a bit. "Thanks Maggie", I thank her and then Maggie yawns and walks to her bed " good night lily",I smile and also retire to sleep.
