Chapter 2 ✔️

Chapter 2

"Wait, you two know each other?" Principal Larson asked, glancing between me and Logan.

"Yes, she's my best friend." Logan announced, keeping his eyes on me. There was a warm and longing smile playing along his lips: a smile that reached his joyful eyes.

"Really? Miss Murray, why didn't you tell me earlier?" She asked in bewilderment as she continued to study the two of us.

"We used to be best friends." I corrected, emphasizing the word 'used',  wiping the smile off of Logan's lips. It wasn't my intention to sound like a jerk, but I needed to clarify to him that just because he was back didn't mean everything would go back to normal like it used to be. He had another thing coming if he thought he could just waltz back in my life and pretend everything was okay.

Principal Larson felt the growing tension in the room and cleared her throat in an attempt to clear the air. "Well, I hope you'll be able to adapt quickly in our school, Prince Logan. And don't hesitate to ask me or Miss Murray here for help if you need anything." She said, shooting him a grin. "Again, welcome aboard. Miss Murray would now happily tour you around the school." She announced, sending me a look that said 'Please behave yourself'. I shot her a force yet reassuring smile before standing up.

We exited the principal's office once Principal Larson had dismissed us to start the tour. A small gasped had escaped my mouth when a deep, calm voice interrupted the quiet atmosphere of the hallways.

"Prince Logan, do you need anything else?" The man asked, his French accent leaking through his voice. He studied me for a few seconds as if checking that I wasn't a threat to the precious Prince. He was wearing a black suit and his blonde hair was neatly combed and gelled back. His posture and outward appearance all screamed 'Professionalism!'.

"No, I think I can handle it from here, Bastien. I'll call you later." Logan responded as Bastien  nodded his head in understanding.

"I'll be in the car then." He replied, leaving the two of us alone.

As soon as Bastien disappeared in our sight, Logan turned around to face me. He stared right into my hazel eyes as if searching for clues on why I was suddenly acting all cold to him. I didn't let him in and protected myself by reassembling the wall I had been building over the last few years.

"So, Prince Logan, shall we start the tour then?" I shot him a forced smile and started walking away, not giving him the chance to reply. I heard him sigh in defeat and followed after me.

We went around the school and the longer we spent time together, the more awkward I felt. I showed him around and mentioned what each places were in order to lessen the awkward silence that had fallen upon us. But Logan wasn't even paying attention to what I was saying; instead, he kept staring at me the entire time.

"And finally, our last destination is the gym." I said, standing by the door and gesturing to the gigantic room. There were a few students hanging around, mostly guys, practicing for the basketball tournament. "Do you have any questions, Prince Logan?"

"Yes, I do." He admitted in all seriousness. "Why didn't you write back? Why didn't you return my calls? What happened to you?" He bombarded, earning a humourlessly chuckle and a scoff from me.

"I'm sorry Prince Logan, but those are personal questions. Any other questions relating to school?" I retorted and sent him a fake smile. I wasn't even prepared to answer his questions in the first place since I didn't really think he was ever coming back. Why was he interested in knowing anyway?

"I don't think you've understood me very clearly. I wasn't really asking. I'm demanding for an answer." He fired back. If only I could kill him with the daggers I was shooting him with my eyes. Oh, the nerve of him for even ordering me around as if I was one of his servants.

"And if I don't?" I challenged, piercing my eyes into his. He took a step forward lessening the space between us. Then another, and another, until his face was inches away from mine.

"I'm sure you're wise enough not to defy and infuriate a Prince." He warned, the intensity in his eyes tripling. We were so close to the point that I could feel his hot breath tickling the skin of the tip of my nose, causing a shiver to run down my spine. I took a large step back, distancing myself from him. My body instantly relaxed from the tension that had formed from his closeness. Just his presence alone brought tingles throughout my body but I wouldn't let him affect me in any kind of way. Not anymore.

"Are you threatening me?" I incredulously asked him with a raised brow.

"If the shoe fits." He smirked, bringing his arms across his chest.

I scoffed at him and shook my head in amazement. He really was infuriating. "Wow, I didn't know that having the title of a Prince causes one to turn into an egotistical, insensitive douche." I barked and was satisfied when I saw hurt flashing in his eyes. "I don't know why you came back, Logan, and frankly, I don't care. As long as you stay away from me and doesn't cause me any problem, we'll be fine." I said. I was ready to leave but he had caught my arm and halted my step.

"Please talk to me, Isa. Please, don't ignore me." He silently begged and I felt a million memory flashed before my eyes. It was long ago since I last heard that nickname. He had always called me Isa ever since we were little because he couldn't say the letter 'L' properly back then. So instead of calling me Bella like everyone else did, the name Isa stuck and that was what he had referred to me by since then.

"It's Bella." I corrected him. "It's always been Bella." I said before yanking my wrist away from his grip. I walked away, not bothering to glance back.

"Bella!" Amber called out as she sprinted towards me. I unlocked my old, rusty car and placed my bag in the passenger seat. "Where have you been?" She asked, panting for air.

"Oh, you know...." I trailed off, not wanting to tell her what had recently transpired. The last thing I needed was to have Amber on my back for not telling her that I was once friends with the Prince.

"No, I don't know. Now tell me!" She ordered, bossy as ever. "You disappeared for half of the day and you wouldn't even tell me where you've been. What's going on, Bell?" She worriedly asked, folding her arms across her chest.

"Just trust me when I say that everything's fine, okay?" I uttered as I walked to the other side of the car and opened the door. I slipped in hoping that she would let it go but Amber being Amber halted the door from closing with her strong hand. "Amber, let go."

"No, not unless you tell me what's really going on!" She argued as she grabbed me with her free hand and pulled me out of the car, slamming the door shut. "Why are you so stubborn?" She impatiently asked.

I rolled my eyes in response. "Says the girl who won't leave me alone."

"Bella, seriously, cut the act, I know that -" Before she could finish her sentence, someone sneaked up behind her and covered her mouth with a handkerchief, causing her to faint. The person was wearing all black with a matching black ski mask and dragged her tiny body in a white tinted van.

"Amber!" I screamed. "Stop! Help! Amber!" And the next thing I knew, everything went black.
