Chapter 58- (Multiple Multiverses)

Karma gets a surprise visitor

Karma enjoyed this 'home schooling' he now did and he easily passed the assigned tests. He had eagerly updated Nova all about it and after a short pause the other had opened the Codes, changing something then stating he would no longer have to do it, as he sorted the issue. He grinned at all the free time he would now have but wondered why Asy suddenly got so pale, when they overheard.

He was annoyingly having some trouble sleeping lately, as he kept hearing a voice calling for him. Each time he searched for it he ended up waking up, with no clearer idea what was going on. It was starting to give him headaches, that were taking him longer to recover from. If it went on for much longer he was sure Asy would notice, as the other had become strangely attentive as of late. He was watched like a hawk and even his pure liquid magic intake was increased, for some odd reason.

The only true freedom he now got was when he went to the park to play with Buddy. Asy was always happy to let him wander off, as long as he stayed with the dog. He was having a great time until Buddy nearly tripped him over, when they suddenly stopped running.

"What's up, Bud? Are you tired?"

Buddy was facing a tree surrounded by shrubs and started growling at it. He wanted to move forward to investigate but every time he tried Bud, would move into his path. He was a bit worried at this strange behaviour and thought he should grab Asy, in case they were sick. That changed when Bud suddenly whined and their body started shaking. Even their tail was between their legs, which he knew was a sign of fear.

"I found you, little raven~"

He startled at the voice and followed it to see a large shadowed figure. Karma chirped in greeting and looked around to see how far away Asy was. The figure felt familiar but it could easily be a trick.

Suddenly Buddy ran off making him startle and turn to follow them. Unfortunately arms restricted his movement, causing him to slightly shake.

"I'm not going to hurt you, little crow"

He started to struggle as he was unsure if this was a known Dream or a crazed variant. Their SOUL just wasn't clear enough to tell, so he spouted a name, he had heard reference to them a few times.

"Oneiro?"

Oneiro felt relief flow through him and he confirmed that it was really him. He started to recite all the things they did together and the little secrets he doubted anyone else but the two of them knew. The struggling in his arms stopped, so he let them go and turned them towards him, wiping away the gathering tears in their sockets.

"You still w-want m-me?"

Oneiro was furious at the question but not towards his child. Those idiots had done so much damage. He had been far too generous in his punishments and should have sent some more 'personal' dreams to them, to make them know the full weight of their sins.

He easily lifted up his child, displeased at how much lighter they felt since last time and opened a portal to a certain SwapDream multiverse he had found. It was much quicker to get here then his home and would offer much better privacy for them. It did make him put a mental reminder that he should update the security for his place, especially against his variants.

SwapDream Multiverse ??

It had been a bit too easy to break into this place for his liking. The local version was currently bound in a spare bedroom and looked identical to him, so there was no need to hide from the staff. He might have had to mess with their minds, to make them forget Karma's presence, as he knew he himself would be vindictive enough to steal them away in retribution.

Pushing the bedroom door open he was pleased to be in a room that could have been home. Oneiro flopped onto the bed, with his child laying flat on his chest.

"Is Buddy ok?"

"Who?? Oh, the dog. He is fine, just a little magic to scare him away~"

That seemed to settle the last of their nerves, as they fully relaxed against him. He hummed in pleasure, deciding to look over their wings. He already knew he would be furious at their bodies' condition, so hoped to settle his anger first.

Sitting up he grabbed some pillows to prop them up, allowing them to not have to expend any energy during the grooming. He lifted his hand and settled it on the right wing, extremely pleased that he still had their trust for this. Stretching it fully out he used his other hand to feel along the feathers, searching for any breaks or unaligned ones.

He hesitantly felt around the centre of the wing, feeling how it had experienced some physical trauma.

"Who— no, never mind. I'll find out later"

He would make sure to feed the more delicate area more magic, to help build it back to its usual state. This was going to take a while to get back to his preferred standards. He was pleased with his inspection of the right wing and folded it back, switching to the other side. He repeated the process, now knowing what items he would need to make this comfortable for them. He grabbed items from his inventory, placing them on the bed in preparation.

"Why don't you tell me all about what you have been up to since i last saw you. I would love to hear all the details~"

It would definitely make it much easier to know who to add to the list. He listened to Karmas, as he carefully separated the many matted feathers, tutting at the poor job the last being had done of this. He smoothed the primary feathers, letting his magic be tugged by the white parts with no resistance.

It made the white parts look more ethereal, reminding him of the AntiVoid. That places 'innocent' appearance had led many monsters to stay there for longer than was wise and lose themselves, while being drawn to the stark white.

At points in Karmas tale he felt how scared they had been and wished his magic was effective on them. He warily watched as their hands travelled towards their feathers before going to the scarf instead and playing with the trinkets attached.

The magic from it was loud to his senses, informing him about the many monsters who had shared their magic with Karma. He wanted to rip the scarf off and burn it, but he wouldn't. He could see how it helped calm the other down and it was much less self destructive, than pulling out feathers. He would just have to top all those paltry gifts with something better.

When they talked about eating SOULS he paused in his task and wondered why he never thought of that. Moving his head closer to their visible bones, he spotted how some cracks looked less deep than before. He should have known a Death God would gain some benefit from eating SOULS, without going insane. It was easy enough to get some, especially with his powers.

The Error type they had met, called Nova, sounded like an interesting monster he was dying to meet. He had heard about them and the controversy of how many multiverses were horrified, at the torture that had been allowed to occur. Of course it was all talk as no one had been willing to free them, apart from his little bird it seemed.

This was excellent news as he could see the threads on their scarf must belong to that Destroyer. He would give them a little visit to see how useful an ally they were. He was kind of shocked Nova still had coherent thoughts but blamed his little miracle for that. While their luck could be abysmal it seemed something was aiding them, in getting to the right place they could get help.

Oneiro snorted when Karmas snores started up. It must have been a while since they had proper grooming, if this was so relaxing. He was in no rush to move so let them sleep as he finished the last feathers. He purred at how they gleamed with his magic, knowing this would make them stronger.

Leaning back he allowed his child to sleep, thinking he should really visit Pale in thanks for the help. He still felt their bond on Karmas SOUL, so he would be stuck with them for much longer than planned.

Karma was kind of nervous to be seeing Pale again. It had been so long and they could have easily changed their mind about him since then. He had wanted to go back to see Buddy but Oneiro had promised him they had plenty of time. The universe they had found him in was very slow, so they could spend years away with no one being any wiser.

As soon as they stepped through the portal Oneiro had placed him on the ground and took a large step to his left. He was confused till a speeding Pale collided with Oneiro, tackling the other to the ground. There was an intense stare off before Oneiro abruptly kicked Pale off and flew further away, starting to summon bones.

" They will be busy for a while. They like to 'play' whenever they meet up. Chocolate? "

Looking up he saw Template and in his hand was indeed the treat, with a bite already taken out of it. It felt comforting that his habits had not been forgotten. He slowly ate, enjoying the free show that while looking violent, was rather tame to what he had witnessed before.

His position suddenly flipped and he found himself in a princess hold with Template grinning at him in mischief.

" Behold dastardly villains! I have saved the prince from your vile clutches. He now shall be forever mine to protect "

Twin glares were directed at him and Template mockingly smiled at them. He opened a portal, sprinting through at full speed, knowing they wouldn't be far behind. He went through many AU's, making sure to stick to less populated areas as the other two were not great at holding back. It was an amusing 'cat and mouse game' with him barely escaping them at points, fuelling the entertainment.

He knew they could easily grab him but the giggles coming from Karma made the other two slow down, dragging the chase on much longer. He was pleased at how playful Pale was today and knew Oneiro was a good monster to balance them out. Being able to influence emotions sounded a rather useful ability to him but he loved the work he did and he wouldn't trade it for anything.

He had finally met with that Ink, who had added an AU to his multiverse and he had zero sympathy for them, after he had heard what had happened. They looked to be in a miserable state but not enough for his liking. He knew they sometimes came to his multiverse, to get away from the vitriol, but he stopped that real quick and managed to work with Pale to ban them from his home.

Oneiro had been very pleased when he had learned and he was sure he had received some respect for his actions. He could see them being a frequent visitor to his multiverse, so getting on their good side, even accidentally, was only a bonus.

A squeal from Karma made him swerve to the right, just missing Oneiros arms and Pales black bone attack. They were working together now, making him sweat at how serious they were taking this. He shivered at the smirk on Oneiros face, knowing this was just the beginning.
