Black Outs
I woke up, still in my bed. I looked out the window and saw that it was very dark. I walked over to the window and got a beautiful view of a stunning full moon.
It seemed to make me feel amazing. I stared at the moon and felt a sudden wave of calmness wash over me. I yawned and went back to my bed. I looked over at my clock and read the time: 12:00 hm. Midnight.
I suddenly felt the horrifyingly painful burning sensation through my body again. But this time it was worse. It felt like, nothing I could have ever imagined. I was fully freaking out, but couldn't manage to scream. I was sweating all over and grasping my head with my hands. I looked over at my mirror, and my eyes were red. Blood red. I tried to scream but no noise came out. I blacked out.
* * * * * *
"Uuuuugh." I groaned as I began to wake up. My body hurt all over, and I felt something hot and sticky all over me, but I didn't open my eyes yet. I felt immobile for a few moments and was finding it hard to breath. I finally managed to sit up, and open my eyes.
I was in the forest. It was dawn. But, when I looked down at myself I jumped back in horror. Blood. I was covered in hot, sticky, red, blood. I couldn't find words to describe what I felt. I couldn't even scream. I couldn't say anything. Did I get attacked? Did I attack someone?! Did I accidentally take drugs?! What happened!?!
I finally managed to calm myself down. I started to run back to the orphanage. But I felt strange. I could sense where I was, where the town was, where the orphanage was. I just, new. Even though I'd never been in this part of the forest before. I kept running until I got to the edge of the forest and could see where my room was in the orphanage. Not wanting to be seen covered in blood, I snuck over to the building and somehow managed to climb up to my window, that was smashed. I didn't do that! Did I?
I climbed through the window and quickly had a shower to wash the blood off. Then, suddenly realising how tired I was, went to bed. I laid in my bed looking up at the ceiling. I couldn't get to sleep. My alarm started to buzz and I quickly turned it off and got ready for school. I quickly put my hoodie on again and went downstairs with my backpack someone had dropped off for me, since I ran out of school without it yesterday.
"You look tired." The orphanage owner said. I nodded, still looking down at my feet as I walked.
"Also, the front office rung last night." I looked at her. "They said you ran out of the school without permission." I gulped. I couldn't exactly say my body felt like it was fire. I don't think that's normal.
"Sorry. I just, uh, was super nervous. And I just kinda needed some space." I said quietly, she nodded.
"Hm. Ok, but don't do that again. You could get in a lot of trouble. The school's only gonna let this one go because it was your first day." I slowly nodded and, realising I had finished getting ready an hour early, went back up to my room.
I sat on my bed and turned on the TV. It was the news, and something caught my eye. There was a reporter woman in a hospital next to a girl that looked around my age, with short red hair, brown eyes, wearing a light blue shirt and navy pants. She looked a bit taller than me and was covered in blood. There was a thick bandage over her right eye.
The reporter said this:
"Last night a horrifying monster was spotted and attacked this girl, Lydia Avery." They showed pictures of a pitch black wolf with glowing red eyes. The footage was blurry and after a moment cut out. "The beast appears wolf-like in structure and is very deadly. Lydia was apparently just out for a walk when it attacked her and r-ripped out her right eye. Scientists have never seen anything like this and a word of caution is strongly advised from now on, or at least until this thing has been stopped."
I turned off the TV. I had seen those eyes before. They looked like my eyes last night! Maybe I was just imagining my eyes were red last night! Please please please have just imagined it. I started to breath a little heavily, and looked in my mirror again. There was no mistaking, my eyes were red, then after a few moments turned brown again. Could I have done this? I new I was always a little different, but this was crazy! Although, when I woke up in the forest covered in blood, I wasn't injured. I didn't even have a scratch on me.
And that thing almost killed someone.
