Between two unsavorable options

Warning for gore

Lillian was in a pinch worthy of Schrödinger's cat.
On the one hand, she had Tomislav Sobol- proven serial killer and easily twice her weight.
On the other hand, a deadly virus carrier who was not looking well at all.

Tomoslav hefted his crowbar up.
" Why do you shear your head? You should know that being a sinner will lead to retribution."
Amen finally realized that she was not alone, and she staggered towards Tomislav, tears streaming down her face.
" It's in my spine.. get it out of my spine... get it out of my head.." she begged. Her optics activated, and she cried out as her vision was obscured by the security feeds.
Lillian peered through the slat of the door, and her chest tightened. She tried to stifle a whimper when Amen's eyes met hers.
The green faded, and Amen's eyes widened as she fully processed what was in front of her.
" Who-"
Her sentence was interrupted by a loud, slightly scratchy voice.
" Good CHRIST. Can't a guy brush his teeth in peace?"
There- clad in only a bathtowel- was Jacques Dupont. He winked at Amen.
" Hey. I'm guessing that you've got that pesky Col-Akins disease? Don't worry. I'll help you out in a bit."
He was met with understandable confusion.
" Oh, and Tommy boy, if you need to take down a sinner, I could give you a couple reasons-"
Jacques was interrupted by Tomislav rushing at him with a feral gleam in his eyes.
" OH SHI-" Jacques backpedaled quickly, bending backwards as far as his spine would allow.
The crowbar swung barely an inch above his nose, and Jacques dropped to the floor and rolled.
" Benefits of having older siblings-" he dodged another swing of the crowbar. " You get Reeeeealllly good at dod-"
The crowbar connected with Jacques's left knee with a  sick, wet, pop.
Tomislav dropped to one knee, landing hard on Jaques's injured leg.
" You want me to take you down?" He asked. He tore away the fabric covering the injury and felt around until he found the edge of the patella.
Then he met Jacques's eyes, and yanked up.

Hobbins lifted his head when he heard a nerve wrenching, marrow numbing sound.
" Was that human?" Gabriel asked.
" Someone just got their patella removed." Hobbins said, looking worried. " We need to hurry."
" How do you know what that sounds like?" Gabriel asked, hurrying after Hobbins.
" Let's just say that it's a childhood memory, and leave it at that."
Gabriel froze until Hobbins gestured for him to move faster.

Lillian slowly, quietly, sent up a prayer, then opened the door. She took a deep breath in, then let it out.
She closed the door behind her.
" Tomislav." She called.
Tomislav swiveled around, his pupils dilated from too much adrenaline.
" You're the killer." She said simply. She stuffed her hands in her uniform pockets, trying to conceal how badly she was shaking.
Tomislav tossed Jacques's patella behind him, and stared at Lillian. blood ran cold when she realized that Jaques wasn't moving.
" I cleansed them." Tomislav whispered, almost pleading. " They were dirty. Sinful. You understand... right?"
Lillian choked back a sob.
" No... Tomislav I don't understand."
Tomislav's gaze sharpened, and he picked up his crowbar.
" Why did you shear your hair?" He asked. Lillian's gaze darted away. To the untrained eye, it appeared to be a fear response, but Lillian was planning something.
Amen's optics deactivated, and she wailed when she saw Jaques laying on the ground, and Tomislav stalking towards Lillian.
Jacques opened his eyes.
" Not.... Dead... Yet.."
Amen frowned and started advancing, but she stopped when she heard something.
Tomislav reached out and touched Lillian's cheek almost tenderly.
" You're littler than the others." He said. " I'll be quick with you. I can just snap your neck. You won't even feel pain."
Lillian whimpered, and cleared her throat.
" But I WANT to live. I want to hug, and dance, and cry. This isn't where I want to die. Not by the hands of some sadistic lunatic who thinks that I live by his sick rules."
Tomislav's face fell. He put one hand around Lillian's throat, and was about to break her spine when he was interrupted by the sound of running footsteps and someone plowing into his side with enough force to knock him to the floor.
Gabriel helped Lillian and Jacques out of range, and smiled at Hobbins, who was proceeding to absolutely wipe the floor with Tomislav.
" He's incredible." He whispered.
Lillian smiled.
" That's my brother."
