|To remember|
It was in the middle of summer when Danna went to the park, her new foster parents leaving her in the playground by herself as they pulled out their phones and muttered to their desperate clients at the other end of the phone.
For a small child no older than ten to be alone, watching with longing as the other small children played with their friends or parents was very painful to watch, the little girl felt as if she was in the dark, all alone.
She jumped off the bench, knowing that her new parents haven't even noticed her doing so and crawled over to where there was fresh green grass.
Then all of a sudden a yellow tennis ball rolled over to her, stopping once it hit her pale leg, she grabbed the ball with curiosity and looked for its owner just as a Labrador sprinted towards her with its pink tongue sticking out.
It barked once it reached her and wagged it's tail, bouncing Infront of her in full excitement, Danna wanted to touch it, to feel the soft fur under her fragile skin but remembered what her foster parents had warned her about.
"Never touch or go near those filthy things"
She sobered from her short term happiness and stood up, feeling the grass tickle her skin nearly making her smile again.
A boy came to view, a bright smile on his face that nearly made her want to return it and he caressed the excited dog as if to tell him to calm down, the dog only jumped higher and barked loudly.
"Sorry, Max gets too excited sometimes, can we have our ball back please?" The boy muttered kindly, a hand thrown in her direction.
Danna nodded silently and handed him the ball, sitting back onto the grass with a sad look on her face, looking at the dog as her fingers twitched to touch him.
The boy noticed this and with a small blush he walked up to her, tilting his head.
"W-would you like to play with us? It kinda gets boring with just me and Max" He almost whispered nervously, gulping when he met her unsure eyes.
Danna looked back on her parents with hesitation, noticing that they were still on their phones and nodded a yes back to the boy.
It wouldn't hurt to play with them just once.
"Great!" He grabbed her hand and dragged her to where Max was, running across the fields of grass.
That day it was filled with joy and fun, the boy whose name Danna learned was Eliot promised that he would come to the park everyday in search of her so they could play.
And at they did.

(Back to present)
Lilith and Sam looked at their foster daughter with sadness, watching her small figure on the hospital bed as a mask covered her face, her hair sprawled on the bed sheets. She lay very still as a corpse, her skin marked with ugly bruises and scabs.
Lilith held a sob as she covered her mouth with her hands.
"Who could do this Sam? Who could do this horrible thing" Lilith pointed to where the neck brace covered Danna's neck.
"Whoever this is we will find them, don't worry, she will wake up dear" Sam held open the door to the hospital room for his wife, looking at Danna for the last time with grief, whoever did this would be brought to justice, he noticed the colourful 'get well soon' cards on the side desk, all standing very still as more of them was added to the list.
Danna had been unconscious for three weeks, three miserable weeks taken from her life.
Sam turned his nose up angrily and left the room after Lilith, he worked in the court and was very familiar with the police, and when he wanted something to be done, he will have it, he will find this person.
The door shut silently and Danna slowly slipped her eyes open, taking in the putrid air with a grimace. Waking up can be really harsh, especially if your dreams are better than reality, she then had a lonely feeling of detachment, like something was missing, she shivered even though the room was hotter than she was, her lips trembled as she tried to recall the events from before.
But there was a problem, her mind was blank.
Her name, what was her name? Where is she?.
She looked around the room, scanning for any clues for her hopeless questions. She tried to lift her neck but noticed that it was covered with a cast, so she squinted at the get well soon cards to see if there was anything written on there.
And there was, it said Danna Loenne, so that must be her name. She hated feeling so lost, so confused about everything, about how she came to be.
Did she have a family?, Did she have friends?, She hoped she did, because the loneliness that was eating her away was too much for her to bare on her own, she needed support.
A doctor came into the room, she had the posture of a soldier. Every action she took was precise and purposeful.
She smiled at her in the cold and distant way professionals do. It unsettled her, she needed a warm smile, she needed something that would make her relax her tense aching muscles, but the more she stared at the doctor the more she felt her self pale and shiver, watching Her eyes that were devoid of any make-up and her hair in a tight bun, not a strand out of place.
Her teeth chattered as the doctor brought a light torch to her eyes, Danna winced as the room got brighter, the light showing the doctor of any sign of her pupil dilating or any sign of redness.
"What's your name?" The doctor muttered, Danna gulped knowing she didn't remember this.
"D-danna" She wheezed out, her throat burning making her cough, her chest heaving upwards and downwards a lot faster.
"It's okay, your throat will get better, but for now I would like you to try and speak" The doctor said coldly as she pressed her fingers on the neck brace, taking it off to see how much it has improved.
There was still an ugly purple mark on her neck signaling that someone indeed did strangle her, she then pressed her fingers against it making Danna silently scream, no voice coming out.
"Tell me how old are you?" She didn't know, she didn't know anything, she wanted to tell her this, she wanted her to help but it was like fire was inside her throat stopping her from saying so, wanting to choke up on her own saliva that multiplied.
She shook her head instead.
The doctor signed impatiently and walked out the room, but not before putting her neck brace back on.
She watched as the door was left half open, she wasn't deaf so she could hear clearly the conversation the doctor was telling another.
"She doesn't remember anything, not even her age, the affects of the drugs are making her worse doctor you said she improved" She discussed, the other person made a clicking noise with their tongue.
"She was before, but not after the incident, we have to try and drain her from the remaining affects of the drug, for now focus on her throat, I'll deal with her memories " A faint voice of a male carried to her ears as she widened her eyes slightly.
A drug? When was she drugged?.
The doctor came back in the room with another in tow. She gave her a cup of water and nodded at her.
"It's best if you rest for now, I will tell your parents that you are awake but they can see you tomorrow, for now just sleep" She said as she fixed the pillows behind her back, the other doctor taking notes of her state and her heart beats on the beeping machine.
"My...p-parents?" She managed to say, the doctor almost showed her signs of pity.
"Maybe a bit longer than tommorow then" She replied, leaving Danna unanswered as she left the room with the other doctor.
Danna closed her eyes, wanting to rest when her head started pounding as she tried to search for any information in her mind that liked with the word 'parents', oblivious to the figure who watched her behind the door with hard vengeful eyes.
With difficulty her mouth murmured one name,
"Melly" She felt as if she knew that name, whoever it belonged to, whoever they were, they were important to her, and she would have to find out who and why she forgot them.
But for now, her mind welcomed the idea of sleep, it craved for it. And with that she slept soundly.

Yeah so I've decided to continue it, I'm not sure if this happens in hospitals normally cause I hate going there but tell me if it was okay, I'm treading lightly with this book.
So what do you think had happened when Danna was unconscious?
