Chapter 21

Levi tried on several other dresses, eventually picking out the ones he liked most before heading over to the cashier to pay for the ones he wasn't going to get for free.

Erwin smiled as he watched Levi walk out with a non evident yet perfectly clear cheerful mood. It was something he never even thought he’d see on the shorter although he had known him for a very short time and it was something he wouldn't mind seeing over and over.

Thanks to the fact that he had just come to the realization that Levi was entrancing.

“You staying with me?” Erwin asked, being a gentleman and taking the bags from Levi.

“I could, unless you'd rather have me stay somewhere else,'' Levi replied, looking up at Erwin with a raised eyebrow. “I wasn’t actually planning on staying but I can.”

Erwin laughed, gently placing a free, large hand on Levi’s small shoulder.

“I was hoping you would stay,” Erwin said a bit awkwardly, unsure how to word it. “I was just asking to make sure you hadn't made plans with someone else.”

Levi looked at him with an exasperated expression. Did Erwin really think he was the type of person to make plans and then ditch the person for someone else? If so, he couldn't believe what low expectations that male had for him. It almost made him frown.

“I cant believe you really asked me that,” Levi muttered. “Do you really think I'm the type of person to leave?”

Erwin felt embarrassment rise within him. Oh how he wished for the Earth to suddenly swallow him for saying such things but it was too late to take back his words.

“No! I’m sorry. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t bore you to death and that you still wanted to stay.”

Levi patted the taller male’s shoulder in a comforting manner, assuring him that he was fine and that he would stay even if he was bored to death. He had come to visit his new friend and that was what he would follow through. Damn everyone else that he could possibly befriend.

“Well let's go to your house then,” Levi said, a tiny bit of cheeriness entering his voice.

Together, they hailed a carriage and headed to Erwin’s house in silence. A friendship wasn’t based on noise and the fact that both were naturally quiet worked perfectly for their dynamic. The two, ever grateful for no pay, exited the carriage with thanks and that was about it, proceeding to walk up to Erwin’s front door.

Erwin’s house wasn't big, per se, but it was a decent size for someone who lived alone and accepted guests over on several occasions. It was nothing like Levi’s giant castle like house and the difference was obviously noteable.

“Im sorry that you have to come and find a small house like this,” Erwin awkwardly chuckled. “But it's all I can afford and it's comfortable.”

“Don't apologize,” Levi said, shaking his head at Erwin’s words. “A nice house like this is much better than my big, cold, empty house. It feels like someone actually lives and cherishes this place.”

Erwin smiled at that and let them in, where Levi inhaled the warmness deeply.

“It smells nice,” Levi commented. “Like a light cinnamon smell.”

Erwin inhaled as well, not being able to pinpoint the smell immediately, already used to the smell of his house.

“I don't smell anything. You're probably used to all kind of changes and new things in the environment.”

Levi shrugged. He didn't know why but the light cinnamon smell was relaxing, making him suddenly feel like sleeping. Mayhaps that's all he needed, a nice cinnamon smell to sleep peacefully. He should really invest in making the castle smell homely.

Erwin set down Levi's bags on a sofa in the living room, Levi taking a seat without waiting for an invitation or asking. It wasn't like Erwin would forbid him anyways.

“I don't know about you, but I'm kind of thirsty,” Levi sighed, kicking off his shoes and wiggling his toes freely.

“Tea? Water? Coffee?”

“Tea.”

Erwin nodded and headed into his small kitchen to prepare a cup of Earl Grey tea. He didn't know how people drank the stuff but he had bought it just because of Levi. Of course, he’d never say it out loud but he wanted his new friend to like him and if it required by Earl Grey and cleaning like hell, then so be it.

They were small things but they were things that indicated that Erwin respected the younger. Things that seemed so insignificant but meant a lot to Levi. Friendship didn't have to be based on big things and small things as such were enough

"Have anything in mind you wanna do?" Erwin asked.

He knew he was the one that was supposed to have all plans ready in advance but what if Levi had something he really wanted to do? What if whatever he suggested would be shot down? It wouldn't hurt on nearly any other occasion but Levi was interestingly special and all had to be perfect.

"No. I just came here to do whatever. I don't do anything at home so whatever you had in mind would be perfectly fine."

Tiny feet propped up beside him comfortably, hands clasped in his lap, Levi was looking especially dainty although he wasn’t in a ‘proper’ seating position. Erwin handed the cup of steaming hot tea over carefully, not wanting the liquid to splash over the small male and possibly get knocked out right after due to reflex.

"I really didn't think of anything in time," Erwin admitted sheepishly.

Levi thought. What did he want to do? What the hell could he possibly suggest? A sudden idea sprung to mind and he nearly groaned out loud. He would nominate himself a fool.

"I have an idea now," Levi said, deciding he might as well say his thoughts.

"Oh? Do tell."

Levi remained quiet. Was it really a good idea? He dodnt want to look stupid. He contemplated once more before realizing, he might as well try.

"So, remember I said I'm not good at history?"

Erwin nodded puzzled as to what Levi's idea could be.

"Yeah, go on."

"What if, y'know, you became my teacher and taught me?" Levi explained, suddenly wanting to slap himself.

He’d have to be high as a kite to remember anything that’d be said to him if he was lucky. Or who knows, mayhaps Erwin was a hella good teacher and he’d actually learn something due to the precise teaching.
