Chapter 20

Erwin’s eyes narrowed against the person speaking to Levi, instantly making his way over to see what his problem was.

“Okay? And what should that matter to you?” Levi asked with the most unbothered facial expression known to man. “I’m not bothering you and I’m free to do whatever the fuck I want so back the fuck up and leave me alone.”

“Listen here, you disgusting ass, your very existence bothers me and you should die,” the male seethed, a finger pointing accusingly at Levi who had been minding his business like a regular person.

Levi gritted his teeth, taking a breath before he would do something illegal.

“And? Your existence bothers me as well but I’m not complaining.”

The man, with no sense of maturity nor logical thinking, swung his fist towards Levi’s face like the fool he was. Quick reflex and a somewhat developed skill of combat from the few years his Uncle watched over him everyday was to be thanked for the fact that Levi caught the hand midair.

A blink of an eye later and Levi had the man's arm pinned behind his back dropped down to kneel on the ground before the raven haired.

Erwin had just made it to the scene of crime, finding Levi standing with full authority and placing a well deserved kick to the man's ribs. A small crack sounded but Levi could hardly care as several more kicks followed until he pulled the shrivelled man by the hair and looked into his cloudy eyes.

“Never speak to me with that shitty mouth ever again. Understood? You’re lucky I didn’t kick out your teeth.”

Levi violently pressed his heel into the side of his head before walking away from the aisle, heading to another one as if he hadn’t just beat the shit out of a jerk.

Erwin stood above the man with a stern gaze, unable to comprehend how someone could say such things and get away with it.

Is that what the world was becoming? A place where no one could be safe or be themselves without being attacked by some close minded idiot who thought they controlled everyone? Those types of people deserved to be eliminated and though as a teacher, someone who helped grow the future of the world, it was scary to think there was a possibility that one of the students he loved was going to grow up and be a monster. Someone he would also want to eliminate but the chain of idiotry had to go on but there was also hope that someday it would be extinguished.

“I wouldn’t normally condone violent behaviour but you deserved that,” Erwin finally said, stepping over the man and walking over to Levi.

“You okay?” Erwin asked, placing his hands on Levi’s shoulders and staring at his face.

“I’m fine. I just needed to teach a bastard a lesson.”

Erwin nodded in agreement. It must’ve been a bit hard for Levi to suddenly be surrounded by people like the man after having come from a secluded yet accepting area.

“Are you bored? I’ll try to hurry it up if you are.”

“No, it's fine. I was actually looking at clothes myself, trying to guess your taste,” Erwin said with a small chuckle.

“Oh? Well surprise me then,” Levi replied, a radiant smile on display.

“If you say so.”

With an encouraged bounce in his step, Erwin headed back to the rows of clothes where he would continue searching for Levi. Both searched with determination in their eyes, looking for the best possible article of clothing. Dresses, skirts, shirts, suits, lingerie, there were hundreds of clothing pieces scattered about and some in the wrong sections due to the careless shoppers. Fortunately, it wasn’t a difficult task to find proper clothing and it was okay until out of the corner of his eye, Erwin noticed a woman walk over to Levi.

He just hoped she wasn't the same as the man who had mysteriously and silently vanished after having Levi set him in line. He carefully peered over racks of clothes, waiting to see if he would have to step in but it was okay when he noticed her shaking her head while saying something which made Levi give a half-smile which didn’t actually look like a smile.

He decided, Levi was fine and picked out an outfit he thought the other would like. Placing it on top of the rack, he slowly kept looking and if he thought it would be liked, it would join the other clothes on top of the rack.

Levi popped up beside him several minutes later, holding a variety of garments in his slender arms. Some which weren’t even clothes.

Some which had Erwin turning away from looking at lest his mind conjure images that weren’t safe for a human to think of. Much less in public. Who needed to know that Levi had a thing for lacy stockings and thigh highs and undergarments?

“I got some things I like but I need to try them on now,” Levi said, shifting the pile in his arm a bit, tiptoeing to look at the small pile on top of the rack. “Now I wanna see what you chose.”

Erwin glanced away, embarrassed for his choosings. He was almost certain that what he had gotten was nowhere near to what the raven haired liked but what was done, was done and now he had to face reality and show what he had.

“Well, I’m not so sure you’ll like them. Maybe you should just try on the ones you have since you know you’ll like them.”

“Nonsense, I'll try them on and THEN I can choose,” Levi insisted. “Oh, and the shop owner saw what happened earlier and said I can take three outfits of my choice as an apology because the man was someone she knew.”

In reality, it should have been the man apologizing but after disappearing with his tail between his legs and head drooped low without being spotted, it was the least someone could do.

“That’s great!” Erwin said, happy for Levi before reaching out to grab the sorted clothing and place them in the shorter’s arm. “Here’s the clothes. You can try them if you’d like.”

Heading to the changing room, Erwin followed two paces behind, not wanting to seem too excited nor seeming like a weirdo for following his friend to the changing room.

“You can help me judge my clothing choices if you want to,” Levi commented, almost shy at the suggestion.

“You wouldn't mind?”

“Not at all.”

Heading into the dressing room, Levi made sure Erwin was following to the waiting area where he then took in all the clothing, courtesy of the previous encounter.

The blond took a seat on a small couch located right outside the dressing room, assumpted to be there for those who would also help decide on clothing matches, and waited for Levi to finish trying on his share of articles.

With Levi changing quietly and happily, Erwin looked around to see if he could spot any nice articles of clothing that either him or Levi could potentially own but couldn't see much since he was sitting.

A moment later and Levi stepped out of the changing room in a frilly dress that went to his knee but instantly, Erwin could sense Levi didn’t really like it.

“Don’t like it?”

“Not really. I mean, it's pretty but it just doesn’t seem pretty enough, y’know?”

Erwin did, in fact, not know but nevertheless, nodded his head in agreement. He had actually thought it was adorable on the younger but if Levi didn't like it, then he wouldn't try to convince him to buy it.

Levi went back into the dressing room to try on other clothes, leaving Erwin alone once again to his own devices.

“Can’t you buy your own clothes by yourself? You don’t even need any more suits,” a voice groaned loudly.

“I can but I just wanted to bring you to help me choose, obviously. All you do is talk to Armin through the window every night and I’m more than certain he just wants to study.”

Erwin glanced behind him, seeing his two students, Eren and Mikasa, looking at suits. It was clear Eren would rather be anywhere else than there while Mikasa was looking for her clothing choices with interest.

“You don’t even need my help. I could be at home doing something other than talk to Armin while you do this,” Eren gestured with wild arms.

“I know but I just wanted to get another suit. All the others are getting old.”

“Ugh. Whatever,” Eren scoffed. “I can just tell how much you and Levi are related.”

Levi stepped out of the dressing room in a tulle dress as Eren said his sentence, catching his attention instantly. The male looked in the direction of his name, glaring once he saw Eren.

He swore he saw sparks fly. And not the good kind.
