Meadow caught up to me quickly.

  "Hey, I am serious. He struck them down the hard way." She said. I rolled my eyes.

  "How exactly? Did he punch them or something?" I asked. Meadow closed her eyes and bit her lip, nodding solemnly.

  "Yep." She said grimly, opening her eyes. My eyes widened.

  "Wow." I said. She nodded once again.

  "Well, he seems nice to me." I said. Meadow rolled her eyes.

  "After Robins incident, he turned a new leaf and tried being nicer and making friends." She said. I rose an eyebrow.

  "What incident? And what do you mean, making friends. Didn't he have some?" I asked.

  "He had some all right, but they ditched him at a gas station all by himself." She said.

  "And? What happened there?" I asked her. She opened the door to math for us. Sitting down next to each other, we continued talking.

  "Some say he was raped, others say he was mugged. I don't believe any of that of course. I think the owner took him inside and made sure he had enough food and water." Meadow said. I rose another eyebrow.

  "What else?" I asked her. I need information about the school, and it's students.

  "Well, he did mention once that he was waiting for the right girl. That is why he struck the other girls down." Meadow said. More kids came into class.

  "Hmm... Mysteriously peculiar." I said. She rose an eyebrow.

  "Don't question it." I said. She shrugged and Tanner came walking in. He looked around, then sat behind me in a dark corner. I saw out of the corner of my eye, Tanner pulling out his phone and putting earbuds in. He closed his eyes and looked out the window. It was dark and cloudy, rain splattering onto the window. He saw me staring and looked at me. I quickly faced the front of the classroom, still watching him out of the corner of my eye. I saw him smirk and look back out the window. Looking back at the teacher, I saw him sleeping.

  "He just had a baby." Meadow said. So that's why everyone was talking. I winced, thinking about all the crying that baby must do at night.

  "Oh." I said. I turned around and faced Meadow and Tanner at the same time. Pulling out on of his earbuds, he snarled, and rose a hand threateningly. Once he saw it was me, he relaxed and sat back with a frown. I saw Meadow pale.

  "Want to ditch guys?" I asked them. I saw Meadow start packing her things.

  "Yeah sure. It's raining though." Tanner pointed out. I shrugged.

  "I don't care." I said. Tanner shrugged and gathered his stuff. We walked out of the class and into the field.

  "So what do you guys want to do?" I asked taking off my hoodie and putting on the hoodie with two holes cut in them.

  "I don't know. What do you want to do?" Meadow asked. I shrugged.

  "I don't know, but I do know that I don't want to go to school today." I said, jogging backward. Meadow and Tanner nodded. An awkward silence fell upon us.

  "Okay guys, can I show you something? Or actually, just River please." Tanner said. Meadow glared at Tanner, then said,

  "Fine." She headed off to the girls bathroom. I guess she had to go, if you know what I mean.

  Tanner took off his hoodie. He rolled his shoulders, and large, black, wings revealed themselves boldly. I gasped. There are more!

  "Okay, don't freak out." He assured. His wings circled around me, making sure I don't escape. I grinned.

  "Move your wings out of the way!" I exclaimed. He frowned.

  "I guess your not the one." He said, looking down with a frown. I pushed my wings out, pushing them to their full height. Tanners eyes lit up.

  "Woah!" He exclaimed. I grinned.

  "I didn't know you had wings!" I exclaimed. He nodded.

  "Did you dye yours?" He asked.

  "No."

  "Oh, I did."

  "Oh. Are yours real?"

  "Yeah. Are yours?"

  "Yeah. Can you fly?"

  "Oh yeah! So fun."

  "I agree." I said, words spewing out of my mouth. He grinned. Meadow came out of the bathroom. Tanner quickly snapped his wings against his spine.

  "River! Your wings!" Meadow yelled across the field, sprinting up to me.

  "He has them too!" I exclaimed. Meadow gasped.

  "Seriously?" She asked. I nodded.

  "Yeah! Show her!" I exclaimed. He opened his wings, cautiously. Meadow grinned, taking off her hoodie and opening her wings.

  "Your wings are white too?" Tanner exclaimed. She nodded, now we made a large circle with our wings.

  "Yeah! Did you dye yours?" Meadow asked. Tanner nodded.

  "Yeah! I can't wait for Robin to see!" He exclaimed just as I said,

  "I can't wait for Cliff to see." The bell rang signaling the end of school. Confused, I looked at my watch, then smelt smoke.

  "It's the end of the day already?" I asked. Tanner paled.

  "That's the fire bell." He said. I paled, seeing the flames and smoke rise from the building.
