-Chapter 5-
I was awoken by loud honking sounds. Yelping in surprise I fell out of bed and landed on the floor with a loud 'thump'. Hissing in pain I rubbed my head as I sat up with one eyed closed and the other halve open, whilst a scowl was formed on my lips.
I am so not the morning person.
"Are you alright Cathie?", I look up at my bedroom window -which viewed the whole front yard- to see Optimus's bright sapphire optics staring at me.
"Fine. Fine", I waved him off tiredly as I got to my feet and walked to the window to open it. "Why were you honking?", I question confused as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes.
"Don't you have what you humans call 'High School'?", He asked tilting his helm side-ways whilst his eyes re-adjusted.
I faintly smiled at Optimus, knowing he was only trying to be helpful. I finally reply with,"Optimus I don't go to school. I work instead. On weekdays", I tell him and he simply nods.
"-And where would the destination be that you work at?", he asks curiously as he peeped into my room. I could easily tell that the Autobots don't get out much and they were defiantly curious on what we humans do here. Well they should. Our planet defiantly does have some amazing sites.
"I work as an waitress, at a nearby Café ", I explain to him before looking at the digital clock on my beside table that read 6:15am, Usually I get up around 7:30-8:00 ó-clock. I sigh whilst continuing with, "and I don't start till 9:30am".
Optimus's eyes darken for a couple seconds before lighting up their amazing electric blue once again, "So you serve beverages to other humans?", he says unsure making me lightly smile.
"Yes I do. I am guessing you looked it up on the World Wide Web?", he nods in response confirming my question, making me grin.
"Why don't you go to School?", he asks slightly confused. Sighing I received this question a lot but most people assumed I dropped out of High School because they thought I couldn't handle it, which was a false accusation on their part. I could of handled year 10 to year 12. Heck I could of gone to college with all the money I had earned by now but I chose not to. I chose a different path to life and decided to support the people I love and care about the most.
"I dropped out in year 10; So I could help support my mum with the bills. I realized I needed to work more than twice a week and a lot longer to earn the money we needed to pay the bills and mortgage", I explain whilst doing some hand motions as I talked.
Optimus did some mechanical sound as If he was in deep thought, "I shall take you to work and pick you up to assure that you'll be safe from the Decepticon's reach", He told me.
"what about my mum?", I ask raising an eyebrow before continuing, "What if the Decepticons find her when you drop or/and pick me up from work?", I pause and started off with another question not allowing him to answer, "Will my mum be safe when I'm gone!?", I start to panic while waving my arms in the air, "What if she gets hurt or-or worse!. What if they come back!?.", I raise my voice as I pulled my hair in fear of the thought of leaving my mum home alone with nothing to defend herself except for a shoe or a damn vase.
Optimus sighed, pressing his metal digits on the ridge of his nose as he shook his head, "I assure you she will be fine-", I cut him off, "How do you know!?. Yesterday Me and MY brother nearly got blown into damn pieces!", I state frustrated at how we were now dragged into a damn war that we don't belong in.
"Cathie-", I cut him off again, "Heck we could of gotten injured out there!", I state the obvious. "Cathie can you just-", I continue to rant not bothering to listen what the Autobot leader had to say, "Even worse we could have died!-", It was now his turn to cut me off.
"Cathrine", Optimus made his voice firm which made me stop and finally listen to what he had to say, "I need you to trust me on this. I promise you; Nothing will happen to your mother, your brother or you"
I nodded not bothering to ask or rant out any more questions as It was obvious I may had been a tad harsh towards the only being that was keeping me and my family safe from harm. I looked away as our conversation died in seconds and nothing but the quiet chirps of birds nearby could be heard.
My eyes lingered with worry, as I simply grabbed a towel and a change of work clothes and headed to the bathroom, closing the door behind me. I had started to get ready for the day ahead of me, but for some reason I had a gut feeling rising in me that was telling me that today, is not going to turn out as good as I had hoped it to be.
That today would change everything around me in a matter of seconds.
