chapter 6

Third person pov:

Drikshit were still sitting on the same bench, engulfing each other like some one is going to break them apart. Perhaps.

The nightingale was twittering, the birds were chirping, a gentle gust of wind blowing making drishti's curls and the tree's branch fly in process.
They were feeling like heaven, they found everything mesmerizing around them. Even the chinking of the tinker bird was like soothing thier souls.

People around them started to subtract, as it was going to rain.

A very minute drop of water fell on Rakshit's head from the sky. The rain drop. He raised his head a bit to look at the sky, and than glanced down at his drishti.

Drishti had wrapped her arms around his waist and had closed her eyes, a small and genuine smile playing on her lips. Finally after a long  smiled and creased her back for a minute or two, letting her relax in his arms.

He was helpless without his drishti some hours ago and now he's like he got all the things he had always wished for, but his drishti is not less than any blessing for him. He smiled at the thought.

Another drop of rain fell on his hand, he frowned at this. Why its going to rain? Can't he just spend sometime alone with her?

"Mrs shergill," he said softly, his hand was still on her hairs and he had placed his chin above her head.

"Mmhmm" she replied and snuggled more in his neck, Rakshit smiled at her behaviour.

"Mrs shergill dekho baarish hone wali hai," rakshit said. She looked up at sky and made a sour face, why its going to rain? Can't this world let them spend sometime alone?

Everything that was stopping them to be together, seemed antagonistic to her.

As she dropped he lashes to look down, her breathings were uneven again because of the proximity. The sour look on her face was soon replaced by a sweet one. She smiled at him.

Rakshit watched her antics with a small smile playing on his lips. That's what exactly he wanted from the start: to see her smiling. She had no idea how much he had yearned for her smiles.

He raised her eyebrows at her, waiting for her reply. For drishti, she roamed her eyes and than looked back at him, she didn't knew what he was asking about.

"Home?" She registered his words, after thinking for a moment or two, she than nodded.

Rakshit made her stand on her toes, the warmth he was feeling moments ago was now replaced by coldness, he missed her immediately.

"Mr Shergill abh aap yahi bethke mujhe ghoortey rahenge ya chalenge bhi," she tried to sound taunted but rakshit didn't missed the small smile on her lips.

"Achha, mein chahu toh tumhe yaha zindagi bhar ke liye rakh sakta hun" he said with a hint of playfulness in his voice. Drishti's eyes shone with brightness at his words. Getting up from the bench, he held her hand in his. Drishti looked down at thier hands with a smile.

They walked towards his car, getting inside it drishti tied the seatbelt and rakshit kept looking at her all the time.

Butterflies fluttered in her stomach, she licked her lips trying not to get back to her normal self cause if the normal self failed to make her feel like this, then she doesn't want it.

Suddenly rakshit mind drifted back to the error he had made. The smile faded away. Fear of losing his drishti made his heart sink. He had to tell her about that so that he can sort out the matter, as now pisachini is also dead. He'd tell his mother everything so that she can free him from this 'engagement' drama. He had to tell her before it's too late.

He tilted his head to the side of his drishti, who was sitting thier with a beautiful smile on her face which was reaching her ears. Seeing her happiness he decided against it.

He ignited the engine, the ride home was comfortable for drishti, she found solace with him. As for rakshit, he was anticipating her painful looks, he was anxious.

After some five or six minutes car came to a halt. Rakshit parked the car and they both started walking towards the main gate with thier hands in hands.

Drishti's each step carried enthusiasm she had within her. She was still smiling like an idiot, thinking about her future with her mr Shergill, her rakshit. Her eyes carried the dreams, she once had under her eyelids, but now she was feeling like they were going to come true.

While rakshit, his each step carried worry. Worry for his drishti, he was guilty . Now matter in how much haste he was he still hated himself for doing that to his drishti. What will happen when drishti would know the truth? His breathings were uneven. He was too anxious.

The door of the Shergill mansion opened wide. Lavanya stood there along with mahima on her side. Lavanya gave a disgusted look to drishti and smiled at rakshit. While Mahima she ignored drishti like she didn't even existed and moved to her son.

Lavanya's actions didn't hurted drishti but mahima's did. She know she made a mistake—huge mistake by switching brides, but why didn't anyone noticed that it was rakshit who completed thier marriage?

"Hey, you ms pa tum rakshit ke saath kya kar rhi ho?" Lavanya asked drishti in a offend tone.

"Umm Lavanya we all knew that you were dumb but today I got it, you're blind too," drishti said in a sweet yet sarcastic tone, While Lavanya flared her nostrils.

"Ye dekho," drishti held her nuptial chain with the tip of her fingers and showed it to Lavanya. "Ye bata ta hai ki meri mr Shergill sey shadi hui hai, aur abh couples kuch kare, kahi bhi jaye issey tumhe kya?" Drishti asked in a demanding tone, while mahima let out a breath, she didn't liked the way drishti talked with Lavanya.

"Ohh really?" Lavanya smirked at her.
"Tum dono really couple ho?"

Rakshit didn't like where the banter was leading, he was afraid of the consequences.

"Lavanya dekho tum-" rakshit started in a cold tone but was cut off by his mother.

"Haan beta, tum toh waise bhi isse chhodne wale the na? Tum iske saath kya kar rahe ho?" Mahima asked in a spicy tone. Her statement caught drishti's attention.

As mahima's words completely registered in drishti's head her breathings stopped for a moment, she raised her head up and looked at rakshit. In eyes.

"Haan baby aur tumne toh mujhse sagai bhi karli hai na, phir iske saath kyu gye?"

Sagai. The word caught drishti's attention once again and this time her heart dropped.

Rakshit flinched under lavanya's tone but drishti's expression made is heart sink once again. He felt uneasiness in his nerves. His eyes softened seeing drishti's state.

Lavanya might be lying? Drishti thought. She was hell bent on ruining my marrige life, she probably was lying. But she seemed doubting her own words, gradually, she looked at rakshit for the answers, and got when his lashes dropped in guilt.

Drishti was finding it difficult to breath like her breath was being sucked out, but her eyes never left his face as if they were glued to his face.

"Abh kya kahogi ms pa?" Lavanya was enjoying her state. The venom in her tone said how much she hated drishti.

Lavanya was the last drishti cared about. Her facial expressions screaming: hurt. The tears in her eyes started to flow. She said nothing.

Hurting her was never his intention—it was last thing. He was going to speak but drishti ran from there.

She ran and ran until she reached thier room. She let herself fall on bed and cried. Her eyes were red and the skin around her eyes was puffy.

The door of thier room slung opened, rakshit rushed towards drishti, he kneeled down beside the bed and cupped her face between his hands.
He made her look at him.

"Mrs Shergill, meri taraf dekho, dekho vo sagai-"

"-sagai ho chuki hai" her voice broke at the end.

"Mrs Shergill meri baat toh suno," he pleaded, his voice soft—on the verge of breaking. His eyes held the unshed tears.

Drishti didn't said anything, she looked away—looked anywhere but him. "Kya sunu mei mr Shergill? Oh sorry rakshit sir?" Her tone was tight.

"Vo sabh—vo sagai ek jhoot tha" her eyes fixed back at him.

"Haan, mrs Shergill, vo mujhe isiliye karni padi-'

"-kyuki aapki mom ne mujhe chodne ke liye kaha tha," she stated, tears still streaming down her cheeks.

"Mujhe bolney dogi?" When she didn't said anything further, he took the apportunity and continued, "mujhe tumhe bachane ke liye vo natak karna pada," she looked at him, puzzled.

"Haan, mei hi hu anjaan, vo tumhe bachane ke liye tha mrs Shergill, I swear mai nhi chahata ki tum mujhe chhod ke jao.
Vo pisachini ka dhayan bhatkane ke liye tha, taki ussey mujhe par—anjaan par koi shak na ho.
Mujhe vo dikhawa karna pada taki mei tum dono ki raksha kar saku.
I'm sorry mrs Shergill"

He was anjaan.

He knew about divyachini, heck, he was one who advised me to stab her yet he gave me two paths.

Now all his loving-caring nature made sense to her, all his inattentive nature towards her disappearance made sense to her. When he new she would be gone to rescue her sister, why did he gave her two paths?

She stood thier flabbergasted.

Taking two long strides towards him, she made him face her, and slapped him hard. He knew.

"Aapko pata tha, aapko pata tha," she yelled, pushing him.

Rakshit was stunned, he looked at her with his wide eyes. "Kya pata tha, aur tumne mujhe mara kyu?"

Hearing her shouts, all the family members came rushing to thier room.
"Kya hua, ye drishti chilla kyu rahi hai?" Asked ojas.

"Aapne rakshit bete se puchiye kya hua hai!" She said in low yet hard tone.

"Mrs Shergill..." Hiss throat heaved a sigh

"YOU KNEW THAT!! USKE BAAVJOOD BHI AAPNE MUJHE DOH RAASTE DIYE, kyu ki-kiya—aisa," her voice broke at the end.

"Kya pta tha mrs Shergill?" He was still puzzled.

"Jaanke bhi anjaan banne ka natak mar kariye mr Shergill"

"Mrs Shergill batao mujhe," he held her wrist.

She too held his hand, "ki mujhe Divya koi bachane jana hai...  Lekin phir, aapne mujhe doh raaste diye MR sshergill aaur uss lavanya sey sagai Karli." And jerked off his hand.

He forcefully cupped her face to make her look at him,, " mrs Shergill mene vo jaanbhooz ke nhi kiya...vo pisachni ne karwaya,"

"Ussey pisachini ka naam mat dijiye mr Shergill.
Aap chahte the ki aap ussey sagai kare—uske saath rahe.
Agar aap chahte toh koi dusra rasta dhoondh saktey the"

"Mrs shergill merda yakeen karo-"

"Itne mahine wahi toh karti aayi hun mr Shergill," *sob* "dekhiye aapne usska kya kiya" she sobbed more.

"Please.."

"Abh kuch nahi bacha mr—rakshit sir,  mein jaa rhi hun"

"Dii aap kahi nhi jaa rhi," Divya came forward. "agar kisi jaana hoga toh vo hai rakshit."

"Nahi divi," drishti's tone was stern, "ye inka ghar hai, mei jaungi.
Aur tu mere saa—"

"Nhi dii mei aapke saath nhi jaa sakti, shikhar.." Divya trailed off. She had bowed down her head.

"Thik hai," she managed to say.

Rakshit pulled drishti, and she landed on his hard chest. "tum kahi nhi jaa rhi ho,"  he whispered through his clenched teeth.

"Mei jaaungi, aur mei jaa rhi hu," pushing off him, she started packing her clothes in suitcase.

Rakshit came and snatched the suitcase from her hands. He leaned closer to her face.
"Mei ye tumhe nhi dunga."

"Theek hai, waise bhi mai yaha leke kya aayi thi, jo leke jaungi," she chuckled bitterly.

"Mera vo matlab nhi th-"

"Jo bhi ho, mujhe koi fark nhi padta,". She said in a cold tone.

Both found it difficult to breath 'cause of the proximity, thier hearts were beating rapidly—almost at the same speed.

Thier heartbeats synced..thoughts didn't.
