Hunter's POV

When I open the door to my apartment, it's eerily quiet and dark. I don't have any unexpected guests waiting for me. I turn on the lights as I walk through the place. When I get to the kitchen, I make myself bacon and eggs.

Once I'm done, I put it on a plate and take it to my office. There are plenty of photos of my family and a couple with Suri and me in them.

In the middle of dinner, the door to my office opens, and Suri walks in. She takes a seat across from mine.

I put the knife and fork down and looked at my sister. "What do you need?"

Suri leans forward and places her hands on my desk. "I want to know how my brother is doing. Have you got any more emails from people applying to work at the Chateau?"

"I haven't looked yet. Nina went through the emails and sent the ones that would be good for the job." Opening the email icon, I review it and find eight candidates' resumes in my email. Four will be for chefs, and four will be for Maids. "Do you want to look at who's been chosen?"

"Nah," she waves her hand through the air. "Responding to that sort of thing is your job. I hope one of the maids can bake. It will be a treat to have something else."

"If people are going to bake, they should also know what we're allergic to. I don't want to deal with any of us going through anaphylactic shock. I'm unsure if anyone will know what to do if we encounter that."

Subject: Cleaning Position

Dear Mr. Westbrook.
My name is Keegan Jennings, and I saw the advertisement for a maid position at the Chateau in the French Alps. I want to apply for that position if it's still available. I have attached my resume to this email. I hope to hear from you shortly.

Suri moves to my side and looks over my shoulder, reading the letter. "You should hire her."

Turning slightly in my chair, I look at her and say, "I can't hire everyone, Suri." I open the link and read through her resume. A smile spreads as I read about her experience as a maid. "I'm going to hire this girl. She has experience, just like the girls from the other day."

"Are you going to email or call her?"

I emailed the other two, but with this one, I wanted to talk to her. "I'll give her a call." I entered the mobile number into my phone and called her.

It takes a couple of rings before a beautiful female voice enters my ears,

Keegan: Hello, this is Keegan.

She's American. It would be great to have someone from here work for us overseas.

Me: Hello, Keegan. It's Hunter Westbrook.

Keegan: Did I get the job?

She's eager to know if she's got it. I'll put her out of her misery in a moment,

Me: Yes, you did. Can you meet us at Westbrook Airfield on November 30th?

Suri's mouth drops open as she hears me offering a ride to a woman we haven't met yet.

Keegan: Of course, I can meet you there. What time are you flying out?

Me: We're leaving at noon.

Keegan: I'll be there. Can I tell you something?

Me: Sure?

Keegan: I wasn't expecting to hear back from you. It makes me happy that you did call. I'm looking forward to working closely with your family and you.

Me: Bye, Keegan.

Keegan: Bye, Mr. Westbrook.

Why do I hate it when she calls me Mr. Westbrook?

When I hang up the phone, I look at my sister. "I'm in trouble."

Suri frowns. "What do you mean?"

Leaning back in my chair. "Keegan's voice was so addicting, Suri. I swear this woman will make me break the rules we will put in place."

Suri moves over to me and places her hand on my shoulder. "Hunter, you've followed the rules all your life. I'll be the one to cheer you on when you break it, because of a woman. Just because you like this woman's voice, she could have the face of a horse and you won't like her."

I point at the door and say. "I have work to do, Suri. You should leave. You're a distraction that I don't need.

She moves away from me and towards the door. She sticks her tongue out at me like a child would. "I'm staying the night." She closes the door, leaving me in peace.

I start writing the rules for the chateau.

HOUSE RULES

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Please respect the neighbours and tenants during these hours.
No Smoking: smoking isn't allowed inside the property. If smoking outside, please dispose of cigarette butts appropriately.
Visitors: Any visitors must be approved by Hunter Westbrook in advance. No overnight guests are allowed without prior permission
Damages: Any damages or breakages must be reported immediately. The Tenant might be held financially responsible for repairs or replacement.
Garbage: Please dispose of trash in the designated bins and follow local recycling guidelines.
Respect: Be respectful and professional in communication.
No Romantic Relationships: Do not have a romantic relationship with someone working in the house.
No Sexual Relationships: Do not have sex with someone working in the house.
Work: Jobs must be done in an orderly manner.

Once I finish the rules, my phone rings. 'Luna' flashes across the screen, and I answer it.

Me: Hey, Lu. What do you need?

Luna: Thank you for today. I needed to talk to Mike, and we've decided to continue our relationship. Can he come with us to the Chateau?

Me: You can invite whoever you want. The more people at the Chateau, the better our time will be.

Luna: It won't be that fun if we invite many people. It should be a family event. Besides, we usually meet people at the bar and invite them to our place to party.

Me: I hired some Maids and extra chefs for our stay at The Chateau.

Luna: We're going to need them. I hope you've hired a girl to keep Ayden occupied while Mike is with us.

Me: Is something going on between Mike and Ayden?

Luna: Ayden's been pissed at him since I cried on his shoulder when we broke up. He's been protective ever since.'

Me: I'll talk to Ayden.

Luna: Thank you, Hunter. I'll let you go. I know you're probably busy with paperwork. Bye, Hunter.

Me: Bye, Luna.

I hang up the phone before leaning back in the chair.
