Falling Hard - 35
Melody's POV
The next morning, I walk into the dining room with Hunter, and we sit beside each other. "Are you ready to eat my snow on the slopes today, Hunter?"
"Ow," Ayden says. "Are you going to let Keegan get away with talking to you like that?"
Hunter looks over at me. "I won't be eating anything, Keegan. I'll beat you to the bottom like I do everyone else."
"Are you sure?" I lean back in the chair and stretch my arms above my head.
"Yes," Hunter looks around the table at everyone. "Who wants to have a bet that I will beat Keegan today?"
Suri looks over at us with a smile. "I'm putting five million on Keegan to beat you, Hunter."
Hunter's mouth drops open. "Are you serious, Suri. That's a lot of money."
Suri touches my arm. "Keegan is worth every penny."
I can't believe she wants to put that much on me to win.
Luna moves over to Hunter. "5 million on Hunter to win." Ayden puts his money on Hunter to win as well.
Turning my attention to Hunter, I say. "Ten million, that I will win."
Ayden looks over at me and says. "Do you have ten million?"
"That's something for me and you to find out."
Hunter moves over to my side and says. "I'll take that bet on myself." He looks over at Thalia. "Can you write these bets down? We will look at these bets again when we return from the slopes."
Suri leans over to me and says. "You better win. I want the extra 10 million in my account today." She winks, grabs a slice of toast from the table, and butters it. She puts eggs and bacon onto it and then eats.
Grabbing a bowl, I fill it with fruit and start eating.
Hunter looks over at the bowl and says. "Is that all you're going to eat? We'll be on the slopes for a couple of hours."
"I'll eat more after I've finished the fruit salad," I tell him. "Are you going to sing tonight at karaoke?"
"No," Hunter shakes his head. "I'm not going to make a fool out of myself. I will leave that to the rest of you."
"Are you sure? Can I tempt you to join me for one song? How about we make a deal?"
"What kind of deal?" Hunter asks.
"If you win, you don't have to sing, but if I win, you will sing two songs. One with me and the other on your own. Both songs will be my choice."
"Have dinner with me?" Hunter asks. "Then you have yourself a deal."
Moving towards him, I say. "Are you asking me on a date?"
"Yes, I want you in a dress, and I will have flowers with me at pick up." Hunter winks at me.
Is this the best Hunter can do in asking me out? I think not.
Tapping my chin, I say. "No, I won't have dinner with you, Hunter. Find another way to ask me out."
Hunter looks over at Suri and mouths. "Help me."
Suri shakes her head. "You can handle this, brother." She looks at me. "Keegan wants you to put more effort into asking her out. It's not the first time you've asked a girl out."
After the fruit salad, I grab some toast and put bacon and eggs on it. I eat that and then look at everyone at the table. "I'm going to grab my gear. I'll meet you all out front in fifteen minutes." I stand and make my way to Hunter's wing.
When I arrive, Hunter opens the door and holds it open for me. "Thanks," I say as I walk through the door. "You're such a gentleman, Hunter." I walk to my room and close the door.
Walking into the bathroom, I brush my teeth and redo my hair. I put on a beanie and grabbed the snowboard and helmet from the closet.
Hunter is waiting for me in the living room. He looks over, and a smile spreads across his face. "You look like an angel in that outfit," he says.
Looking at my clothes, I'm wearing white pants, a white jacket, and white boots. My helmet is black.
I wave my hands at my clothes, saying, "This is a distraction for when I decimate you on the slopes."
"Let's go." Hunter holds out his hand to me, and I place mine in his.
When we reach the front of the house, the Westbrooks are out front, and standing close to them are Thalia and a few maids from Ayden and Luna's wings.
I haven't had a chance to talk to these girls, and I will introduce myself to them as we head to the slopes today.
Suri looks at my hand, which is in Hunter's. "You're holding hands with my brother, and he hasn't taken you on a date yet."
A car pulls in front of us, and we climb inside. Hunter makes sure that I'm sitting next to him. I turn to some of the girls and say. "Hi, I'm Keegan."
A brown-eyed, brown-haired girl says, "I'm Bianca. " She points to a blonde, blue-eyed girl next to her. "That's Tori, Cathy, Diana, Zara, and Mina."
"It's nice to meet you all. Have you been snowboarding or skiing before?"
Diana shakes her head. "Never, I will get someone to give me some lessons. I know someone won't be able to teach me today."
"Do you want to learn to ski or snowboard?"
"Ski," I look over at Suri. "When Diana's not getting a lesson, can you teach her?"
"Sure,"
Bianca smiles at me. "I ski, but I won't go on the slopes today. I'm meeting some friends for drinks and then we'll enjoy the snow afterwards.
I keep talking to the girls, and Hunter listens to everything I say.
The car stops in front of the Chair lifts. I grab my gear and climb out.
Hunter grabs my hand and we head to the VIP entrance. It doesn't take long before the chair lift stops in front of us.
Suri looks at me. "I'll see you at the top."
"Okay,"
Stepping forward, I sit on the seat with Hunter. The pole is put over our heads, and then we take the lift to the top.
Hunter and I talk to the top. He looks at the ground and points out a few things.
Turning to him, I asked, "Which run are we taking to the bottom?"
"I'm not sure. Which one do you prefer?"
"You're asking me?"
"Yes, you've been here many times, haven't you?"
"Of course. I'm not sure you'd be ready for my favourite one."
Hunter shakes his head. "I'm game for anything. Choose, and I'll follow your lead."
"Okay," A smile spreads across my face. "Slope four."
Hunter's mouth drops open. "That one is for experienced skiers and snowboarders. Are you sure that's the one?"
"Yes," I take his hand. "Can you handle it?"
"Damn," he whispers. "That's the one I've never done before. I usually ski with my family, and none of us has been comfortable with that slope."
We wait for the others at the top. Suri is next, with Cathy next to her.
Once the group is at the top, Hunter clears his throat and says. "Keegan and I will be going on slope four."
Suri moves over to me and whispers. "Are you sure that's the slope you want to use?"
"Yes," a smile spreads across my face. Lowering my voice, I whisper. "I know that slope like the back of my hand. You'll get your ten million." Looking behind Suri, I see Darcy walk over.
Darcy has her camera gear with her and moves over to me. "Hello, Keegan. I've got things set up for you."
Hunter looks at me. "What does she mean by I have things set up for you?"
"Darcy will be capturing our time on the slopes. The first one to the bottom wins, but you must also do some tricks. I'm sure you can manage that, Hunter." I start moving to slope four and look over my shoulder, "Are you coming, Hunter?"
"Yes," Hunter whispers something to his sister before following me.
It's going to be fun watching Hunter lose this bet. Hopefully, when we reach the bottom, he will again ask me on a date.
I put my feet into the straps and look over at Hunter. "Are you ready?"
"Yes,"
"Don't hold back on tricks. I know you have something in store for me, Hunter."
"I do, Keegan. I'm looking forward to what you have to show me."
Turning towards Darcy, I say. "Are you ready?"
"Yes," Darcy says, putting on her skis and moving ahead of us.
Bending my knees slightly, the board moves forward, taking me down the slopes.
Hunter is behind me. Then he puts more weight to the side, and the board starts moving faster. He moves past me and heads toward the ramp. When he gets to the ramp, he does a 180 with the board before landing on the ground.
Putting more weight on the left side, I move faster down the slope. When I reach the ramp, I do a 360 before hitting the snow. I start to catch up with Hunter.
With the board, I point and lean to the left, making the board go to the left side. I pick up speed and pass by Hunter. When I approach the next ramp, I do a front flip and stick the landing. I continue moving down the slope without waiting for Hunter.
I'm having so much fun on the slopes.
Hunter catches up to me. He has a smile on his face. "I didn't know you could do a front flip. That's very impressive. Watch this." He pushes forward and hits the next ramp. He does a 360 and sticks the landing."
Ignoring him, I do a backflip and then land close to him. I move to the right and continue making my way across the slopes.
When I get close to the bottom, I lose Hunter in the group of Snowboarders. I hit the last ramp and do a double backflip before landing back on the snow.
At the bottom, I wait for everyone to join me.
Hunter shows up a couple of minutes later. "That was a great double backflip. You will have to teach me to do that."
Crossing my arms, I look at him. "It's not that easy of a trick to learn. You should practise flips on a trampoline before mastering it on the slopes."
"Is that how you learnt?"
"Yes, also I practised with a few professional snowboarders. Some are still perfecting the tricks I've come up with. They use it for their careers."
"Does that bother you?"
"No," A smile spreads across my face. "I like that the professionals want to take my stuff and turn it into a professional trick."
"Keegan, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?"
I don't keep Hunter waiting for an answer. "Okay," stepping in front of him.
Hunter wraps his arms around me. "I have the table booked for 5 p.m. That will give us enough time to have dinner and then head over to Mason's Bar for Karaoke night."
"You know I won the bet. You owe me ten million and then two songs."
"Do you want the ten mill?"
I shake my head. "Do you know what's better than ten mill?"
"What?" Hunter whispers.
"You in my bed."
Hunter's mouth drops open. "You're being a bit forward, Miss Jennings."
"I'm a woman who knows what she wants. You're the one I want, Hunter. I don't want to take things slow. It's tiring waiting for you."
