Falling Hard - 34

Hunter's POV

I watch the screen as Keegan, Suri, and Thalia walk out of the gate. Since Keegan organised lunch with Vance, I have been jealous that she wants to spend time with another guy instead of me.

I haven't had time to ask her out because I have been working, and I was hoping to do more things with her this weekend.

Matteo is on my screen and says. "Sir, are you okay?"

"No," I look at the camera. "I'm going to take the day off. My mind isn't with work today. I'm thinking about a woman who has walked into my life."

A smile spreads across Matteo's face. "I don't think she walked into your life. She sledgehammered her way into it. I have never seen you keen on a woman in a long time. You weren't like this with your ex."

"I know." A smile spreads across my face. "I'm going to take a couple of weeks off. If anything happens, call me."

"I will. Have fun, Hunter." Matteo ends the meeting, and the screen goes blank.

Walking to my Wing, I quickly change clothes. I pick out a pair of jeans and a long-sleeved shirt.

Once I'm changed, I walk out of the house. Before I can get far, Ayden stops me. "Hunter, where are you going?"

"I'm going to crash Keegan's lunch."

Ayden laughs. "I don't blame you. Get the girl, brother. Are you taking the car?"

"No, I think a nice walk will help clear my head. If I need a car, I'll call for one."

"Okay," Ayden heads towards the garage and grabs the keys for one of the cars we keep in there.

When I get to the gate, Wallace greets me and tells me the girls are going shopping later.

I will call for a car once they have finished shopping. Knowing my sister, she will buy a lot of things. She can't help herself, but she wants the latest things.

"Thanks for letting me know. I will call the driver later. I'm going to enjoy a walk into town."

Wallace opens the gate for me. "Have a good day, sir."

Walking through the gate, I say, "You, too." I head in the direction of town. I see a sign with Mal's on it when I get there.

Sitting on a bench, I see my sister, who has her hands over her face. I walk over to her and join her on the bench. "Is everything okay, Suri?"

"No," she shakes her head. "I had a one-night stand, and the guy left me alone this morning. I thought he'd at least have breakfast with me."

"Who was it?"

Suri's head turns towards Mal's. "Vance," she looks at her hands. "He left something at the house last night, and we started to talk. I offered him a drink, and then one thing led to another, and we had sex."

"Suri," I pull her into my arms. "You're better than being a one-night stand for someone. You will find a guy who wants to spend the rest of his life with you."

"When will I meet him, Hunter?"

"You will meet him when we return home. I'm sure of it." Suri lays her head on her shoulder. "I hope you're right. Are you going to crash Keegan's lunch?"

"Of course." I smile at my sister. "Vance, might bale before I get a chance to join them."

Suri laughs. "I wouldn't be surprised if her bail."

Standing, I head to Mal's entrance. I step into the restaurant and scan the room. I find Keegan at the corner booth with a VIP sign on the table.

Keegan's eyes land on me.

Vance whispers something to her, and I watch as he leaves the restaurant.

Making my way over to Keegan, I sit across from her. "Did I interrupt your lunch?"

A smile spreads across her face. "No," she touches my hand. "We never ordered before you came in. So, Vance used you as a reason to leave."

Spreading my arms, I say. "I'm better company for you, Keegan."

"Let's order," Keegan's stomach rumbles. I'm starving." She looks at the menu and then at me. I know what I'm getting. What about you?"

"You can order for both of us."

"Okay," Keegan raises her hand, and a waitress rushes to us.

The waitress looks at Keegan. "Hi, I'm Maddie. I will be you're waitress today. What can I get you?"

"I'll have two Chicken Sandwiches on Turkish bread, toasted—two chocolate milkshakes with lactose-free milk and an apple tart. Bring the apple tart out first. No, cream." Keegan says. She looks at me and says. "Is that okay?"

"Perfect. Why one apple tart?"

The waitress takes the order to the kitchen. She returns with an apple tart and two forks. She placed them before Keegan and said, "I'll be back shortly with your order."

"Thank you, Maddie." Keegan smiles at the girl as she walks away from the table. Keegan put the tart onto the fork and brought it to my mouth. "You should try this."

My mouth wraps around the fork, and I taste the tart. I chew. "This is good."

"I know, right?" Keegan looks over at the counter. Mal cooks this fresh every day. When Mom finished work, we would stop at Mal's for dinner. He would give me an apple tart free of charge before dinner. Mom wasn't happy because she believed that dessert would ruin my appetite. What Mom didn't know was that Mal, you'd adjust the proportion on my plate so it wouldn't look like I was wasting food."

Shaking my head, I say. "The adults sure kept you happy growing up. Where was your Dad?"

"Dad was busy most of my life, and then he died a couple of years after my sister was born. I don't have many memories of my father, as he was hardly in my life. Mom was consistently there for me." Keegan looks into my eyes. "Did you ever get into trouble?"

"Of course. I'm not perfect. Sometimes, I want to do things I shouldn't because it's fun. I used to street race."

"Wow, was it in Los Angeles? What made you stop?"

"Yes, downtown Los Angeles. We would block off the roads and race, but a driver lost control one evening and crashed into a barrier. The cops were heading our way, and we didn't want to get arrested, so we bailed. I was close to getting caught, and after that night, I vowed never to street race again."

A smile spreads across Keegan's face. "You will be breaking that vow next Saturday when you street race. Are you good behind the wheel?"

"I wouldn't race if I weren't. I come in first all the time. I even beat professional racers."

"Like who?" Keegan folds her arms.

"Callum Murphy and Cassie Tyler."

"The NASCAR driver and motocross champions? I never thought they were into something like that."

"Yes, they are. There's a farm that they use for racing. I was seventeen when I found out about the track they had. Eventually, I moved from the track to the road."

"Would you go back to the track?"

"Of course, but I think they closed it a few months ago. I heard the track needed some work."

Keegan and I finish the apple tart, not long after that, Maddie brings our order to the table.

Looking at the sandwich, I say. "This looks good."

"It's one of my favourites here." We start eating lunch, and the conversation flows easily between us.

Once lunch is over, Keegan stands and looks at me. "The next time we eat somewhere, it better be a date, Hunter. I want to wear a nice dress, and you have to bring sunflowers." She kisses my cheek. "Start planning the date, Hunter." With that, she walks out of the restaurant.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I call Luna. It rings a couple of times before she picks up.

Luna: Hunter, is everything okay?

Me: I need to plan a date.

Luna: You're going to take Keegan out?

Me: Yes, what restaurant should I book?

Luna: Take Keegan to Le Panoramic. It has beautiful views of the cliffs, and she will love it.

Me: Thanks, Luna. I'll book that.

She's going to love the night I have planned for her.

Keegan's POV

When I get there, Thalia and Suri are standing out front of the mall. They smile and walk over to me. "Hi," I greet them. Where shall we go first?"

"Let's get some jewellery?" Suri says.

Looking over at Thalia, I see her smile. "Let's go, " Thalia says. She leads the way to one of the jewellers. We enter the store, and I move over to the counter.

Looking through the jewellery, I see nothing I like on the shelf. I walk around and wait for Suri to finish.

It takes ten minutes before she's ready to leave.

We go in and out of stores, and I still haven't found anything I like. Thalia got jewellery, a couple of dresses, jeans, long-sleeve shirts, shoes, and a jacket. Suri has a couple of bags of jewellery, dresses, jeans, jackets, a pair of sunglasses, and shoes.

When we get to the last store, it's a VIP only store.

Thalia looks at the door. "We can't go in there; none of us are VIPs."

I pulled out the gold card and showed it to them. "I have a card. Let's try on some dresses."

A smile spreads across Thalia's face. "I have never been to a store like this. It will be the first time I ever get in there."

We walk through the store. The store employee, Gina, walks over. She looks at the three of us before saying, "You can't be here without a card."

I showed her the gold card and said, "I'm a VIP. These are my guests."

Gina took the card from me and looked at it. It didn't have my name on it. She looked it over thoroughly. "This is fake." She broke the card in front of me.

"It wasn't fake." I pull my phone out of my pocket. Since you broke the card, I will have to call Pierre. He won't be happy to hear his VVIP was poorly treated." I call Pierre and wait for him to pick up.

Pierre: Hello, Melody. Are you in town?

Me: Worse, I'm in your store, and the store person, Gina, tore my card up, and she's kicking me out.

Pierre: I'll be right there.

Me: Thanks, Pierre.

After hanging up, I looked at Gina. "You won't have a job in ten minutes." I moved over to a chair. Crossing my legs, I waited for the owner to come.

Thalia and Suri take a seat close to me. Thalia looks at me and says. "Are you singing tomorrow night?"

"Yes," I look at Suri. "Suri and I will perform one of Melody Stryker's songs."

"Which one?"

"Shutting the Door."

Thalia smiles. "I love that song."

Suri and Thalia begin singing the song to me.

Pierre walks through the door, and the girls turn towards him. He looks over at me. "I apologise, Miss. Take whatever you want, it's on the house."

I hug Pierre. "Thanks, Pierre." I look through the racks and come across a number of dresses that I want. I take them off the rack and then turn towards Thalia and Suri. "Pick a dress each."

"Are you serious, Keegan?"

"Yes, I'm a regular here. Taking a dress each won't hurt this brand."

It's not the first time I've gotten things free here. After all, Pierre works closely with Zane and his family, and if they hear about this, they won't be happy.

After grabbing the dresses, the girls and I left the mall. When we got to the front of the mall, there was an SUV out front, with a driver holding the door open. "Miss Westbrook, Hunter told me to bring you home."

At least we don't have to carry our shopping home.
