I swung my sword at the squids that were trying--and failing--to take us down. We had killed many squids so far, and only a few of us had gotten killed or captured. One of the squids tentacles grabbed my arm and I sliced it in half, dark blue blood splattering onto the grass.

More and more squids attacked me, but only a few managing to get in any hits. The squids kept coming towards me, so I had to keep backing up. And as I stepped back for what seemed the millionth time, I almost lost my footing. I glanced behind me and saw that I was right on the edge of a cliff.

Heart pounding, I fought as hard as I could, but the squids kept trying to push forwards and I could barely keep from falling. Finally, one of the squids pushed me hard enough that I lost my footing and fell. Accepting my fate, I closed my eyes right before I hit the cold water.

Squid's POVI was moving as fast as I could towards the battle. The rest of my troop--against direct orders--had left me behind since I tend to slow them down. I finally made it to the surface and saw that I was not far from the battlefield. Smiling, I tried to move faster, but as I neared the shore, I saw that a group of squids had pushed someone to the edge of a small cliff.

I stayed there for a few moments, watching, before they pushed the person off the edge. As he started falling, my instincts kicked in and I swam as fast as I could towards the cliff. When I was only a few meters away, he hit the water. I dove under the waves and swam towards them. They were sinking fast and I barely got to them before it was too dark to see.

I grabbed his--I'd noticed it was a he--arm and started hauling him towards the surface. I hauled him to the shore, hoping that I'd actually managed to save his sorry butt. Once the water got high enough, I opted to drag him instead of half carry him. I pulled him onto the dry sand and kneeled down by him.

I placed two fingers on the side of his neck, checking for a pulse. Once I found it, I sighed in relief. I brushed his hair out of his face, blushing slightly. he's kinda cute...wait what? I shake my head a bit to clear it. My brain must've gotten scrambled. I'm not gay.

The guy groans and coughs up a bunch of water, turning onto his side. He pushes himself into a sitting position and clutches his head, still coughing. His coughing subsides after a few moments, and he reaches up to adjust a pair of sunglasses that were sitting crookedly on the top of his head.

He looks over at me, and I look away, blushing again. Goddamn it, Squid, stop it. I look back over at him, and see he is studying me.

"Uh...Hi," I say awkwardly.

"Hey," he says back. He looks at our surroundings before looking back at me, eyebrows furrowed. "Did....did you save me?"

I nod. "Yeah...I saw you fall...and..." I make a vague gesture with one of my hands. "Yeah."

He nods slowly. "Well...uh...thanks then. I'm Sky. Who are you?"

"I'm...uh...Squid..." I trail off.He face twists into a mixture of shock and disgust. "Squid?"

I nod nervously.

"So you're on their side?" he asks,

"Yeah..." I whisper.

He stands up, and, reluctantly, I do too. He starts to walk away but stops and looks back. "Well, thanks for saving me....Squid."

I nod. He looks away and starts walking again. I stare at his retreating back and sigh. 

Well, I hope you lovelies like this new and improved chapter. I was cringing so bad as I went through and edited, you have no idea. But, anyways, I hope you all enjoy.
