Four
"Can't you just get her to kiss your brother again, this time in front of him," asked Carla as we made our way up the school steps. I rubbed my forehead to keep from snapping at her. I was always snappy in the mornings and Carla was always super talkative.
"For the nth time Carla, I don't want to hurt the guy by having him see his girlfriend kiss someone else," I said with a groan.
"But I thought you were only doing this to show up that girl? Why do you care if his feelings get hurt in the way," asked Carla, a smile tugging at her lips as she looked up at me. I avoided her gaze and resisted the urge to shove her away. Perhaps even shover her into a closet and lock her in their for eternity.
"Does Rach have a little cru," started Carla and I did shove her away this time and lost myself in the crowd of incoming students so she wouldn't find me. Crush. Ha. I didn't get crushes. Especially not on some new kid who couldn't even flirt back. I mean for God's sake, I met the guy yesterday.
Ugh, speaking of the handsome devil.
"Hello Ace," I said and no matter how much I tried, I couldn't keep the slight purr out of my voice that I only reserved for guys I flirted with cause apparently, sounding like a cat was sexy.
"Hi," he said, a gorgeous smile lighting up his face. How did someone look that happy first thing in the morning? Was it even legal? It also made him look 10 times hotter and I resisted the urge to point out the fact to him.
"Someone got laid last night," I said with a whistle and immediately winced. Sometimes, I had absolutely no filter. Ace flushed red at my brazen comment and I had the urge to laugh at how innocent he was. His eyes became all doe-like and for a split second, I lost myself in them before recovering quickly.
"So where is that pretty little girlfriend of yours," I asked as I now brushed past him to head to first class. He matched pace with me easily, given his 6ft2 height.
"Oh she's around here somewhere," he said, his expression souring. Huh, so trouble in paradise. This time, I refrained from saying my unnecessary thought out loud.
"You know I'm still going to keep up what I promised you yesterday," I said, looking up at him as we got to my class. Immediately, I saw him tense up. Oh no the gorgeous smile was gone. I'd go to hell for that.
"She's not a cheater Rachel. You know nothing about her," he said stiffly and I gave him a sad smile.
"Neither do you," I said softly, brushing the back of my hand across his cheek before turning away from him.
