"You know what you have to do right," I asked Xavier and he nodded, as he continued to do stretches. I rolled my eyes.

"You're not running a marathon Xavier. You're asking a girl out. You don't need stretches for that you moron," I said with a frown. We were currently gathered around the oak tree outside school. The bell had rung ages ago and Kaelie still hadn't come out of the building. God know what she was up to.

"I'm only doing this for you Rach," he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Oh great. I'm so touched. I think I may even shed a tear," I said dramatically and he scowled at me before turning his attention back towards the double doors of the school.

"I'm hungry," Carla announced and before I could reply, the doors swung upon and Kaelie came through, with a couple of other girls behind her.

"That's your queue little brother. Go," I said, practically shoving him forward. A part of me was enjoying how nervous Xavier looked as he approached Kaelie. He asked her to step aside and then presented her a bunch of flowers. Like I'd told him to, he asked her to go out with him secretly.

And like I'd predicted, she said yes and with a coy smile towards him she walked away. Step 1. Completed. Xavier came back with a triumphant smile.

"She said yes," he announced proudly.

"That's cause she's a hoe," said Carla with the roll of her eyes.

"No need to ruin my game CareBear," he said and Carla shot him a glare.

"You guys can go flirt some other time. Just not in front of me," I said stonily, resisted the urge to smirk as they both flushed pink. My little brother and my best friend- the thought wasn't as sickening as I thought it would be.

"See you later lovebirds," I said, dropping a wink in their direction before heading to the car, leaving them to sort out what they'd just discovered. Ah first love. That initial excitement was everything. I'd just had that with the wrong guy.

I had no regrets though. Despite how horribly it had turned out, what we'd had had been beautiful in the beginning. But like all things in life, it had to come to an end.
