Chapter 1

I struggled in the bigger Amethysts arms as I was carried away from my family. Great. Now I was even farther from finding my dad, and since my shield only had a 75% success rate still, I was forced to struggle in the Amethysts arms as I was carried to what Holly Blue described as the "Assimilation Bay". I decided to look around as I struggled, hoping that if, no when, I found my dad, I could maybe recognize some hallways in order to find Pearl and the others. The bigger Amethysts were laughing at my struggle as I tried to break free. We started to near a small, tangerine colored door. I started to panic. What was the "Assimilation bay"? Was it a place where gems took bad humans to be made into, into, whatever they needed? I needed to get out of here. I struggled harder as they opened up a keypad with their gems, projecting a code onto the sensor before the door popped open.

"Let me go you bigger Amethyst!" I cried, desperately trying to get away from the metal door.

"Heh, these newer humans are so spunky. In you go." She tossed me in. Everything was dark. I couldn't tell if I was in a room, or hallway. I was about to try and stand up, when suddenly bright lights were all around me, and the floor started moving.

"So it was a hallway..." I wondered out loud. Just as I was wondering where this thing was taking me, pastel green fingers flew straight in my face. I cried out in surprise and covered my face as a blinding light flashed in my face, and the fingers separated to reveal a very candid photo of me with strange writing all over it. I decided to ignore the picture, I couldn't read the writing anyway, and focused on the fingers instead. They were pastel green, almost like...

"Peridot fingers!" I exclaimed and grabbed one of them before they could fly away.

"This is so cool! I didn't know that Peridots came in different colors! Does this mean that there's another Peridot around here who these belong to? HELLO???" I called out into the empty hallway, and sighed as I got no response. Meanwhile the conveyor belt had stopped moving, and the other fingers surrounded my head. Before I could react, all of the fingers sprayed a white-ish looking mist at me, temporarily blinding me, and causing me to loose grip on the finger that I heald.

"Ahh!" While I was still stunned by the mist in my eyes, the fingers took the liberty of checking my eyes and temperature. When they were done, they flew away to a little black box on the ceiling, looking barely big enough to contain a gem Amethysts size. As I wondered what kind of gem could fit inside a box that small, the fingers came swirling back at me, and started moving towards my belly. The conveyor was still stopped, and I wondered if it would start back up again. The fingers were nearing closer, and I wondered what there purpose was. I started to work up a nervous sweat. I had never had any trouble with my gem before, Pearl was always fussing over me sleeping alone, she always thought that I was going to roll out of bed in my sleep and fall on my gem, but the peridots pale green fingers inching towards me made me feel strangely nervous, a feeling that seemed to originate at the base of my gem and slowly corse its way through my whole body. What would they record if they saw my gem? Would they assume that I was my mom? I didn't want these fingers seeing my gem. Not here, not now, not ever. But before I could react, my signature shirt was peeled off, and I shivered at the sudden burst of cold. The fingers froze suddenly, and there was a loud crash above me. I swore that I heard a muffled voice above me, coming from the strange black box, but what gem could fit inside?

"Oh, oh my stars. A human with a gem? How does he know about us? Does it know about the diamonds? And that gem... it belonged to-" I struggled to hear her as she paused, seaming at a loss for words. "I- have to contact my superior, she needs to see-" She paused, for lack of a better word "This organic life for herself"

And it was at this moment that I decided I needed to run. Run while I still knew where I was. I grabbed my shirt from the Peridot fingers, which were still frozen, and decided to run back to the metal door I had came in from, since I hadn't gone far on the conveyor. While running I struggled to come up with a plan. Maybe I could summon my shield and break down the metal door? No. If this is anything like the technology on the moon base, it's probably fortified or something. I mentally smacked myself in the head for coming up with such a basic plan. As I struggled to come up with a plan, the conveyor started moving again, catching me off guard and causing me to loose my balance. I tried to stand up, groggily, and looked at the tangerine colored door only a few feet away. I tried to stand up, still discombobulated from the experience. I was too late.
