13.| AVENGERS INITIATIVE

THE GALLOWAY RESIDENCE WAS MORE THAN JAMES EXPECTED WHEN HIM AND NATASHA STEPPED OUT OF THE S.H.I.E.L.D TRUCK. The Stark buried his hands in his pockets as he stared up at the two-story suburban home, which would hold a family of mutants. James never believed that he would find himself in front of the home of a mutant; but then again, he never thought he'd meet one. Sure, his life was extremely complicated, but he never thought he'd meet mutants. There were stories about them that he had learned about from the news, so he could only hope that they weren't horrible.

Natasha glanced at the man as the two of them stood outside before she nudged him. He glanced at her and nodded his head slightly as the two of them began to approach the home. The Russian was the one to knock on the door, which was answered by the woman that they saw from the film. The woman that stood on the opposite side of the threshold had short dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She had a small scar above the tail of her eyebrow, but other than that, James couldn't deny that she was a beautiful woman.

"Hi, who are you?" The woman, that James and Natasha both knew as Lily Heaven-Galloway, the invisible woman. She rested her hands on the door as she glanced between the two S.H.I.E.L.D agents, wondering who the two people were on her front porch.

James took out his S.H.I.E.L.D badge and showed it to the woman, who reached for the badge and examined it as he introduced them, "I'm James Stark and this is Natasha Romanoff. We're agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and we're here to ask you and your family a few questions."

The woman glimpsed at the badge in her hand, before back up at the two in front of her, "A Stark," She stated as she handed the badge back to him. "Never thought I'd meet another one of you. I'm Lily." She introduced herself, even though they already knew who she was. She stepped back and motioned for them to enter the home. "Please, come in."

"Thank you," James said to her and the woman gave him a kind smile and he and Natasha entered the home.

The house was a rather modern take on a Victorian era and it had just about everything a family needed. Lily led the two of them into a large kitchen, where two members of the family were already seated. James's eyes glanced over the father, Derek, and the younger daughter, Kaia. They both glanced up at the two S.H.I.E.L.D agents before the two of them took a seat at the table.

"Fawn! Where are you?" Lily called out for the oldest daughter, and it wasn't too long before both the shapeshifter and a blonde haired woman entered. The file on the blonde woman was a little outdated, but Natasha and James recognized her as the Aunt, and sister of Lily, Serena Heavens. Once everyone was seated at the table, Lily motioned to the two of them. "These are agents James Stark and Natasha Romanoff of S.H.I.E.L.D, and they're here to ask us a few questions."

"Or they're here to lock us up like they do with all of the other mutants," Kaia scoffed as she slouched in her seat, arms folded over her chest. "Seeing as Professor X isn't taking in recruits for his team of misfits."

"Actually, that's not why we're here," Natasha spoke up, giving the family a look over. "My partner and I are here to ask you a few questions and inform you about a project our boss is currently formulating. It's called the Avengers Initiative."

"The Avengers Initiative?" Derek Galloway questioned the two of them, and they nodded their head. The man sat up in his seat at the table and rested his hands on the table, clasping them together. Lily turned to her husband and rested a hand on his own, before looking back at the two of them.

"Your family has been on our radar for quite some time, and our boss believes that your family could be good additions to the project," Natasha continued to explain, nodding her head to the father figure. James was looking at the two children until his eyes landed on the shapeshifter. Fawn Galloway narrowed her eyes at him, and he caught them burning an electric blue for a few seconds, before fading back to their normal hue. He quirked his eyebrows at her quickly, which caused her to smirk at him. "The Avengers Initiative is a project created to form a team of the most able individuals to defend the Earth from imminent global threats; these individuals functioning as a response team to said threats which are too great for the forces of mankind to handle."

"Who else would be considered for this project?" Fawn Galloway spoke up curiously, which made her little sister upset very quickly.

"Why do you care?" Kaia spat at her. "From what I understand, this whole Avengers Initiative is going to be their excuse to control our family and tell us what to do. We won't be able to go out and help those who need us the most whenever that may be--"

"Kaia," Lily cut her daughter off, warning her sternly. Kaia rolled her eyes at her mother, and the older woman let out a sigh, turning to face the two agents. "I would also like to know who else has been considered. If that is open to us."

"Right now, we have one member confirmed," James replied to her with a small smile. "That is my brother, Tony Stark. If you've seen, he has been in the news as Iron Man, and he is one of the first members of the team."

"Another member that we hope to add to the Avengers Initiative is Captain Steve Rogers," Natasha added, which made Fawn raise an eyebrow.

"Captain America?" Fawn questioned. "Isn't he doing time as a popsicle?"

"S.H.I.E.L.D has spent the last two years searching for his body, and we have found it and defrosted him," Natasha answered him. "He currently is awake and adjusting to the new world, and we will approach him when it is needed. As of now, your family is one of our recruits to... recruit."

Lily and Derek glanced at each other for a few seconds, before they looked over their children. From what Natasha and James could tell, the only child that was completely up to the idea of joining the team was Fawn. Kaia, not so much. The Aunt didn't really have a reaction to the idea of becoming part of a team, but when Lily looked at her sister, the two women nodded their heads.

Derek stood up from his spot at the table, resting both hands down on the surface. Natasha and James both stood up as well, and the father of the family nodded his head.

"I think that my wife and I both agree, that our family will join your team," Derek spoke to the two of them. "Just call us and tell us when and where, and we will be there to fight with you."

The Galloway Family has joined the Avengers Initiative! As you guys can see, Kaia is very much against joining a team run by a government organization, but Fawn and the rest of her family are. Next chapter, we will see the Galloways joining Natasha and James at S.H.I.E.L.D HQ to meet Nick Fury and talk more about the Avengers Initiative. They won't be featured much in the chapter, but briefly talked about. Natasha and James will continue to go through files to pick out candidates for the Initiative, and we will get to see more of my S.H.I.E.L.D agent OCs!
