48. A Series Of Manic Events
Lia had tried to lay out the story to Jin in the best way she possibly could. At first Jin seemed to find the whole thing ridiculous - but the more she talked - the more realization seemed to dawn on his face. Now that she had finished her narrative, Jin was sitting completely silent. There were a variety of emotions playing out in his eyes at that moment as he stared at the bookshelves lining the wall of the library. Lia sighed as she sat on the couch beside him, giving him the moment he needed to let it all sink in. Truth be told, she needed a moment too.
"I just...I thought you were all gone," she said. "It'd been so long that I just assumed there was some sort of complication, but here you are...on a Thursday..."
Lia felt another round of tears slipping down her cheeks as she looked over at Jin. This reunion was bittersweet. Him being here on a Thursday meant that the reversal procedure had worked, but if that was the case, where were all the other boys? And Jungkook...was he alive?
Jin finally turned his head to look at Lia, fixing her with a soft smile as he wiped the tears off her cheeks.
"I'm sorry I upset you by not remembering right off," he said.
"Does that mean...do you remember now?"
Jin nodded his head softly as his thumb brushed a few more of her tears away. His soft smile grew a bit wider when his eyes went to her stomach.
"When are you due?"
"Any day now," said Lia as she moved a hand to grab the hand Jin still had on her cheek. It was real.
"You're real..." she whispered as Jin nodded.
"I am."
"Where are all the others?" asked Lia.
Just as Jin was about to open his mouth to respond, a loud banging came at the front door. Jin and Lia both turned around in shock.
"I wonder who that could be," said Jin as he moved to stand up; Lia right on his heels as they both left the library.
Lia stood a few feet behind Jin as he reached the front door, reaching out a hand to open it.

As soon as the elderly lady told Taehyung where Lia had disappeared to, he had run there as fast as he could. He knew that Doc was waiting for him in traffic, but he had to get to Lia as soon as possible. Now that he remembered he couldn't delay the inevitable anymore. He raced as fast as his legs could carry him through the city towards Mr. Kim's house. Though he hadn't ever been there himself, he remembered reading about it in one of Jin's letters in the binder.
A half hour later, Taehyung was arriving sore and out of breath in front of Mr. Kim's place. He forced himself to jog up the drive, mounting the steps towards the front door before pounding on it as hard as he could. He bent over a bit with his hands pressed to his knees as he waited for an answer. Soon enough the door opened. Taehyung lifted his head to look into Jin's surprised face.
"Taehyung..."
Taehyung was about to say something in response when he noticed Lia standing in the entryway a few feet behind him. Her eyes were filled with tears as she stood there. A barking sounded out; the sound of nails scuffing across the floorboards echoing through the house as Yeontan came barreling into view. As much as Taehyung loved Yeontan, he loved the woman standing there even more. He distractedly bent to pat Yeontan on the head as his eyes finally landed on the rounded stomach Lia was sporting.
'Is she pregnant?' thought Taehyung as his heart sunk. 'Did she get married while we were gone?'
"Taehyung," Lia breathed out, trying to move to take a step towards him when she had to suddenly stop, leaning an arm against the wall.
Both Jin and Taehyung stood there as their eyes widened like saucers; Lia holding her stomach as her water broke right in the hallway in front of them.

"Can't you drive faster?" asked Taehyung as he sat in the backseat next to Lia.
She was trying to take deep breaths as Jin had told her to whilst squeezing the life out of Taehyung's hand. Taehyung could swear that he heard a few of the bones in his hand crack as Lia squeezed in it an effort to remain calm. They had to get to the hospital soon, but Jin was driving his father's second car slower than death.
"I can't do anything about traffic," said Jin as he looked in the rearview mirror back at Taehyung and Lia. Jin's eyes softened with concern when he saw her still taking deep breaths to stay calm. "Just hold on, Lia. We're going to get you there."
Taehyung had questions about the paternity of the baby, especially when he saw that Lia wasn't wearing a ring on either hand. However, all those questions were on the back burner as she squeezed his hand tighter.
"Lia, it'll be okay," said Taehyung. "We've got you. You're not alone."
By the time they finally reached the hospital, Lia's contractions were getting closer and closer together. Taehyung and Jin worked together to get her inside, sitting her down into a wheelchair as they rushed her in. When a nurse came to take Lia away, she looked back at them scared.
"I want to go with her," spoke up Taehyung immediately.
The nurse didn't argue, especially not when she saw Lia's hand grab a hold of Taehyung's instantly. Taehyung turned to look back at Jin as he stood in the waiting room as the two of them were rushed past the double doors and into the hospital.

"I can't do this..." said Lia as Taehyung stood by her side.
The baby had decided that it was time to come not even a half hour after they arrived and she was now currently trying to give birth. The pain was overwhelming though; her vice grip on Taehyung's hand not having let up for a second.
"You can do this," said Taehyung as he gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "You've got to. I'm right here."
With Taehyung's words in her head, she closed her eyes as she pushed when the doctor told her to. Soon enough the world of pain turned to a world of sound as the cry of a baby echoed out in the air. Lia opened her eyes to see the newborn baby in one of the assistant nurse's arms as she carried it to an area off to the side to be observed and washed up.
"Congratulations! It's a boy," said the doctor.
Lia smiled as she looked over at Taehyung standing beside her. He smiled back at her before dropping her hand as the nurse brought the now bundled baby over to him. Looking down at the baby boy's delicate features, he could tell instantly who he looked like. The pain of it all was bittersweet; the reaction playing out on his face for Lia to see.
"What is it?" she asked. "Is something wrong?"
"No," said Taehyung with a teary smile. "He looks just like his daddy. He looks just like Jungkook."
Jungkook. Lia's joy filled heart at the birth of her newborn grew heavy hearing his name. Taehyung turned his gaze away from the baby to look at Lia.
"Don't be sad. Please be happy. This is a joyous time," said Taehyung, "And I promise I'll treat him like my son regardless."
'I really wish the child she had was mine,' thought Taehyung, but his love for her was enough to overlook it anyway, especially because of Jungkook.
Just as Taehyung was going to offer to hand the baby over to her, Lia let out a groan of pain. Taehyung quickly handed the baby off to a nearby nurse as he grabbed her hand again.
"What's wrong, Lia?" asked Taehyung.
"I don't know," said Lia.
The doctor frowned when he heard the cry of pain from Lia. Coming back over, she examined Lia before looking up at the two of them with a small smile.
"It's alright. You're having another child. You must have been pregnant with twins."
"But no one told -"
Lia's words were exchanged for another sound of pain as she gripped Taehyung's hand tightly as she was coached into taking deep breaths and pushing once again. Soon enough the cries of another baby sounded out through the room. Taehyung moved to follow after the nurse as she cleaned the second baby up.
'Lucky son of a gun,' thought Taehyung as he walked over, 'He gets to have twins with her.'
He froze completely when he saw the new baby currently being wrapped up before him. That baby looked exactly like him right down to the freckle on the tip of his tiny nose.
'What the actual f-' thought Taehyung; his thoughts cut off by the doctor congratulating Lia on her healthy baby boys.

AN: So this chapter was a bit on the ridiculous side, I know. However, it is a fanfic so I hope that you will let it be and won't go at me about how this isn't how procedures are run or how this can't happen. 😂
I hope that you're enjoying this story so far, and I'd love to hear theories on what you think will happen to Lia and the crew next. Do you think her and Taehyung will end up together? Do you think Jungkook is alive?
I look forward to engaging with you all in the comments! See you in the next chapter!
