Chapter 6
It was a cold Winter morning. My high heeled boots left deep traces in the snow. I wrapped my cloak tightly around my upper legs, that were bleeding from the cuts the glass made. I only hoped no important veins were hit.
I walked a bit down the street Carl's house was in. It was a very typical street, with trees on the side where no houses were. The road went on beyond the last house on each side, and so did the trees. There were six houses. Carl had one neighbour on the left side and four on the right side of his house.
I was cold, frightened and my body started to hurt, so I wanted to go inside somewhere. I went to the house on the left. It was similar to Carl's house, except that the roof was black and not red. I like black, so I instinctively chose this house. I knocked on the door.
"Who's there?" a female voice asked from a window on the side.
"I'm Esther!" I answered, trying to keep my voice down. "Please let me in, I'm so scared!"
"Coming," the voice said, and a few moments later the door was opened by a lady with curly red hair. I went inside and the woman closed the door behind me.
"It's okay," she said, "you're safe now."
"Thank you," I whispered.
The lady looked at my legs and asked: "Who did that to you?"
I looked down and noticed that my blood was leaking through my cloak. I made it when I was 15 and I really loved that thing, so seeing this would've made me cry in any other situation. However, in this situation all emotions were overloading my brain, and I started shaking.
"Come," the lady said, "I'll take care of those wounds. You should just try to calm down for a moment."
