Chapter 13
I woke up in a driving car. I knew it was driving because I heard the engine, but I couldn't open my eyes yet.
"This seems like a deja vu..." I mumbled.
Kasper's voice sounded from the driver's place: "Don't worry, you're going to be okay."
"Where are you taking me?" I asked.
"A hotel," Kasper answered. "It's not far."
I knew that it had to be okay. Nothing would happen to me without Master's permission as long as I stayed loyal to him, and I was loyal. But I still wasn't sure about it.
"When am I going back to Master?" I asked.
"When you're ready."
Such a weak answer. "I'm always ready," I said.
Kasper didn't sigh impatiently. "You're not, trust me, but I'll help you, okay?"
Kasper knew me well. He had always understood me and he could always convince me if my actions were wrong. But not this time. It was just wrong what he had done. I realized that Kasper had played it well by blocking the door so that Master couldn't come in. Maybe I had been wrong about him all my life? He was certainly not helping me in this case. He knew that I wanted to stay.
"Help me like you did when you took me away from Master?" I asked sarcastically. And when he didn't answer, I called out: "I want to go back! NOW!"
"You were dangerous to Master, I was trying to protect him." Kasper said calmly, but he couldn't hide the little vibrato at the end of the sentence that told me he was lying.
"That's probably why you locked the door?"
"Can you please trust me on this?"
"No, I can't!" I shouted. "You kidnapped me!"
"I'm trying to help," Kasper said, not losing his calmness for a moment.
I growled and turned my head away. Out of the window I could see the streets and buildings of Michigan. I had been here before, but the memory was so foggy. I think it was Winter. Back then Kasper and I didn't argue. We had never had an argument like this before. It bothered me. But I knew I was right and he was wrong. I would never let him convince me.
We stopped in front of a small hotel. Kasper stepped out of the car and opened the door for me. I decided to cooperate for now. If I ran away, I'd have nowhere to go. I didn't know the way to Master's house. Kasper took my hand and led me to the 2nd floor, room number 23. There he knocked on the door.
"Come in," a voice said. It was a very familiar voice. It was the voice of Rik, my husband.
