Chapter Three

(Max's POV)

It's been almost a week since (Y/N) got here. We talk more, but she still has that same expression on her face. I've tried to make her irritated, happy, sad, confused, but it just doesn't work. I'll keep trying though...

We were walking to the docks after lunch when (Y/N) suddenly stopped in her tracks. I was confused, and I saw that she was looking at something, and for once, her face showed something else... horror. I was shocked at what could've triggered her to look like this, so I looked in the direction that she was looking at, and I saw Nurf...

Holding Camo.

(Y/N) ran toward him, and he held Camo high above his head. She started jumping, desperately yelling,"Give him back!" Nurf just laughed.

"What, you want this trash?" he teased.

"He's not trash! Now give him back!" (Y/N) yelled as she kept jumping, trying her hardest to reach her beloved panda bear.

Nurf chuckled sadistically. He held Camo's head in one hand and his legs in the other hand, and ripped his head off. (Y/N) froze, her eyes laced with tears. "Here, take it." Nurf said as he dropped both parts of Camo on the ground in front of (Y/N) and walked away laughing.

I quickly ran to (Y/N)'s side as she dropped to her knees. "Ugh, that jerk!" I growled. I know how it feels to be teased for having a stuffed animal..

A few tears ran down (Y/N)'s cheeks, but she quickly wiped them off with her hoodie sleeve and sighed, putting her usual expression on. "It's fine. I can fix him. I've done it before." she said in a monotone voice.

"No, it's not fine!" I barked. (Y/N) turned to me with a shocked expression on her face. "Don't let people do stuff like that to you, and then just shrug it off afterward! You can show emotion, everyone does! Don't be embarrassed, or ashamed, or whatever you reason is not to!" I told her.

She just stared at me for a few moments before looking back down at her torn panda bear and saying, "Y-You're right.." Another tear fell, and I wiped it off with my thumb, keeping my hand on hercheek to turn her head towards mine.

"Hey, don't let people get to you like that. You're a strong person, and I'm sure we can fix Camo." I told her with a reassuring smile. Surprisingly, she actually smiled back. That was the first time I had ever seen her smile..

"Thank you..." she said as she got up and ran to the tent. I was confused in what she was doing. I stood up while grabbing Camo, about to run after her, when I saw her running back with something in her hands. I tilted my head in confusion. Once she reached me, I saw that she had a sewing kit in her arms.

"Oh. Well, we're still going to the docks, right?" She nodded happily. We walked to the docks, took our shoes off, and sat at the very edge, our feet skimming the surface. I gave her camo and she started hand sewing it up with a black thread. "Heh, did you sign up for sewing camp or something?" I asked jokingly. She paused before she shook her head no and continued. "Well, what camp did you sign up for?" I asked curiously.

She paused before she asked, "Uh, what camp did you sign up for?"

"I asked first." I reminded her.

She sighed. "I-I don't... have a camp.."

My eyes widened. "Why?" I asked bluntly.

She stopped sewing Camo and looked away. "I... don't wanna talk about it."

I nodded. "I understand."

She cleared her throat awkwardly. "S-So, what camp did you sign up for?" she asked, trying to turn the attention away from her.

I froze.

Think, think!

"Uhh... LOOK, CHOCOLATE!" I yelled, pointing near the tents.

"CHOCOLATE?! WHERE?!" she yelled, bolting toward the tents.

"Heh, well that worked." I said to myself. She came back a few minutes later and sat back down with her head hanging low.

"I didn't find the chocolate..." (Y/N) said, disappointed. I just chuckled.

"Hey, I gotta go to the bathroom real quick, be right back." I told her. She nodded, and I left to the bathroom.

~~~~~~~~
After I was done, I started walking back to the docks. When it got in my sights, I saw (Y/N) patiently waiting, but Nurf was creeping being her. Before I could yell a warning, he yelled, "BOO!" behind her, causing her to jump and fall into the lake. I quickly ran over.
"What the hell, man?!" I yelled angrily as he was laughing his ass off. I looked in the water at (Y/N), her arms thrashing and water splashing everywhere.
"I caN'T-!" she managed to say before she sunk into the water. I waited a few seconds as her air bubbles stopped coming to the surface.
Wait... she can't SWIM?!
(David's POV)
I was walking near the docks when I heard a splash. I turned in that direction and saw Nurf laughing and a very angry looking Max. I started walking to them to ask what the commotion was, but when I got close enough, I saw (Y/N) struggling in the water. She managed to say, "I caN'T-!" before she plunged into the water entirely. Max looked down for a few seconds before his expression went from anger to horror, and he jumped in the lake. I just stood there and scratched my head in confusion.
  Other campers (and Gwen) started gathering around the dock with looks of worry, especially Nikki and Neil. Suddenly, Max came out of the water, holding (Y/N) close to him. (Y/N) was coughing violently in his chest. Then, he turned to me. "Help us up, idiot!" Max barked. I set aside his rudeness and grabbed the hood of his hoodie, pulling them both up. I set them down so Max was sitting down, still holding (Y/N).
  "Oh my gosh! Are you two okay?!" I asked, concerned.
  (Max's POV)
  "Oh my gosh! Are you two okay?!" the idiot that helped us up asked. I just ignored him.
  "Hey! Are you okay?! Are you hurt?!" I asked frantically, panicing a little. She stopped coughing and nuzzled her face into my chest. I waited a few seconds before she shakily held up a thumbs up. I let out a shaky sigh. "I'm glad you're okay. Does your throat feel sore?" She nodded. "C'mon, let's go back to our tent so you can rest." I picked her up on my back, her legs and arms wrapped around me and me holding her legs to help keep her up.
  (like dis)
  The other campers were starting at us, but I just ignored them and got to the tent. I was about to set her down when I heard light snoring over my shoulder. "Hey." I said softly. "Hey!" I grew a bit impatient. "WAKE UP, DAMMIT!" I felt her jump.
  "WHA WHAT'S HAPPENI- ow, my throat..." she responded, rubbing her throat. I chuckled.
  "Hey, we're both still drenched in water, you need to get changed." I told her as I set her down on the ground. She blushed furiously. My face heated up. "Not in front of me, idiot!" She laughed, embarrased, and I just sighed, my face cooling down. "You get dressed in clean clothes as I step outside, and put the ones you have on right now in this bag." I told her as I handed her a plastic bag. (OH baby jesus it was SO hard to write this paragraph without making it sound SO WRONG)
  "But... my other clothes are dirty from yesterday's mudball fight." she explained.
  "But you didn't even participate."
  She gave me a 'really?' face. "Max. I was standing on the sidelines. If everyone who was participating got every single inch of their skin and clothing covered in mud, I think I would've gotten pretty covered in mud too."
  "Geez, okay... Wait, how many clothes did you bring here?"
  "Uhhh... Two pairs of jeans, three shirts, few pairs of socks, my sneakers... *cough cough* underwear and bras *cough cough* aaaand... my hoodie."
  "So, a red, orange, and yellow shirts?" She nodded. "And two pairs of black jeans?" She nodded. "Do you even have any other clothes?" She froze and started sweating.
  "U-Uh, yeah, of course I do! Eheh... heh..." she replied unconvincingly.
  Wow, she's a horrible liar.
  "Okay, whatever," I said, brushing it off and walking toward the tent entrance. "You get dressed while I step outside."
  "W-Wait!" (Y/N) stopped me before I walked out. I turned around. "I don't... have any clothes."
  "Oh... right.." I sighed as I remembered our long conversation about her not having clean clothes literally ten seconds ago. I walked over to my suitcase and pulled out one of my multiple hoodies that my parents got me, all identical to each other. I turned back to her. "Here, just wear this."
  "But... my sweater also fit you, so shouldn't that be too short? I mean, mine is too big, but not big enough to, uh... cover everything..."
  "Yeah, but my parents don't know what size I am, so some of these are different, and this one is a few sizes too big for me. It'll kinda be like a short-ish dress." I explained.
  "Oh." She grabbed the hoodie and stared at it.
  "Can I leave now?" I asked, a bit impatient.
  "Yes, you can." she confirmed, keeping her gaze locked on my hoodie. I walked outside and waited in front of the tent.
  (15 minutes l8r :3)
  What's taking her so long?! It shouldn't take someone this long to get dressed! Ugh, girls... I'll wait a few more minutes..
  (5 more minutes l8r ;w;)
  Okay, that's it!
  I stormed into the tent. "What the hell is taking so lo-" I stopped yelling as I saw (Y/N) knocked out on her bed, no covers on and spread out across her whole bed. She was wearing white socks and my sweater, her mouth wide open, silently snoring. (If that even makes sense.. -_-) I felt the heat rush to my cheeks as I stared at her in my hoodie. I broke my gaze after a few moments and looked down to see the plastic bag with her clothes in them.
  I picked the bag up but almost dropped it as David came in and yelled, "How are you two doing-" He saw the deep glare that I was giving to him before he saw (Y/N) and mouthed an, "Oh," getting the message for him to stfu.
  I threw the bag at him and he fumbled with it in the air before he was able to grab it. "Wash these." I told him while avoiding eye contact, hinting to him that I didn't wanna talk to him. He got the message and nodded before he left. I looked at (Y/N) once more before I decided that she wasn't going to wake up anytime soon and decided to change. Once I was done, I looked back at (Y/N), then remembered Camo. I cursed to myself as I ran back to the dock to, surprisingly, see Camo and the sewing kit still there. I quickly grabbed them and went back to the tent.
  Once I arrived back, I sat at my bed and continued sewing Camo from what (Y/N) had done so far.
  (Toime Skoip :3)
  (Your POV)
  I awoke in the middle of the night, neatly tucked into bed.
  What? I didn't fall asleep like this...
  I looked down and saw me wearing Max's jacket as a gown, which made the heat rise to my cheeks.
  Oh, right...
  I looked to the side to see Max sleeping peacefully, cuddling with his beloved teddy bear, Mr. Honeynuts. I smiled, but I saw something at the corner of my eye. As I turned my head in that direction, I saw Camo, sewed up completely and back to normal. Leaning against him was a small note. I picked it up and read it.
                  I fixed your bear.
                     You owe me.
                           -Max
  I smiled to myself.
  I owe you so much more, Max.
