Which side is Wanda going to pick? Is the Light telling the truth? Is Wanda actually dying?

Mount Justice

M'gann and Conner were unloading groceries and supplies from the bioship, M'gann using her telekinesis to lift heavy boxes.

"Did you get everything?"

"Everything on your list, Batman." M'gann replied, placing the boxes down next to the supplies Conner was carrying. "Plus groceries."

Pietro and Wally were next to the groceries in an instant. "Cookie fixings?!"

"Snickerdoodles."

"Sweet!" They high fived.

The elevator to the hangar opened and out stepped Artemis and Zatanna. Wanda averted her eyes, willing the redness in her cheeks to go away when Artemis waved to her.

"Zatanna! Are you joining the team?" She asked instead, walking up to the magician.

"I don't know, Zatara is so over protective. I mean, just getting him to let me visit takes a full days wedeling. I wish he'd just give me a little space." Suddenly the Justice Leaguers that were present disappeared. "Dad!"

"Where did they go?! They just disappeared!"

"Oh, really? Like we hadn't noticed." Pietro drawled.

"Cut it out, you two! This is serious business. Somebody just made three Justice Leaguers disappear." Robin snapped.

"I'm sensing strong magic is at play here." Zatanna added.

"Mission room, now." Kaldur commanded. Everyone ran to the mission room. "Kid Flash, Quicksilver, I want you two to do some recon, see if this is happening anywhere e-"

"It is." They both said at the same time, returning before Kaldur could finish his sentence.

"Adults everywhere, anyone over eighteen, is gone." Pietro stated. "All across the state, and what I assume to be the country, possibly the world."

Robin pulled up the holographic computer, typing rapidly. "Reports from kids across the globe confirm it. I'll try reaching the adult heroes, but don't get your hopes up."

"We need to set up a safe haven for children."

"The high school could work?" Wanda suggested. "We could use the gym."

"Good, get started collecting children. Bring them there. Robin, Kid Flash, we need to let the world know there are heroes working on fixing this. We are the most recognized. We will make the video." Kaldur commanded. "Everyone else, round up duty."

The team nodded, running off to help round up the kids of Happy Harbor.

It took time, but they managed to get the majority of the kids to the high school gymnasium before returning to the mountain when Zatanna said she was ready to try her father's locating spell that Robin had given her the footage of.

They pulled up the world map, everyone standing back as Zatanna took in a deep breath before saying the backwards spell. The coordinates showed up on the map.

"Roanoke Island. Good job, Zatanna." Robin smiled at her.

"It works!" Everyone turned to see a young boy standing there, surprise on his face.

"Where did you come from, who are you?" Aqualad asked as everyone approached him.

"Quick, read my mind." The boy said, a huge smile on his face.

M'gann read his mind, gasping. "He's Captain Marvel!"

"Yeah, and I'm Speedy Gonzalez." Wally deadpanned. "Look, just because he-"

"Gee, Wally, do I really have to bring nachos and pineapple juice to get on your good side?"

"Holy crap. He really is Captain Marvel." Pietro mumbled. "But he is so...tiny."

"I'm ten years old, I doubt you were much bigger at ten."

"I wouldn't know, I was created to be a teenager." Pietro retorted.

"Focus, we have a mission at hand." Aqualad coordinated with the adults through Captain Marvel, creating a battle strategy with them as Captain Marvel switched between dimensions.

Everyone made their way to the bioship, boarding and flying to Roanoke island. They found Klarion there in a ritual set up by himself. Artemis and Robin shot arrows and threw birdarangs, respectively, at the witch boy.

Wanda felt sick to her stomach. Klarion was unpredictable, he could expose her secrets to her friends. She narrowed her eyes. She would just have to make sure he was unable to betray her secrets.

"That's the best you can do?" Klarion shot lightning at Artemis and Robin, falling for their bait. Kid Flash, Quicksilver, Superboy, and Aqualad all ran from different sides at Klarion but he brushed them aside easily. Zatanna yelled a backwards spell, denting the forcefield that appeared around the ceremony. "Huh, baby magic."

Klarion flung Zatanna away.

Miss Martian and Scarlet Witch flung rocks at Klarion's forcefield. He shot fire in their directions.

Lightning shot out of the gem in the middle, hitting Robin and Artemis, knocking them out of the battle. Miss Martian hid them behind trees, away from the fighting.

Zatanna pulled out the Helmet of Fate from behind a rock and slipped it on, despite Kid Flash and Aqualad's warnings. She jumped into battle with Klarion, distracting him.

Scarlet Witch, after hearing from Captain Marvel that the gem was the key, used her mist to dig under the ground and grab the gem, pulling it out of the ritual. The adult world did the same as Scarlet Witch tossed the gem to Zatanna, who caught it and yelled out a backwards spell, bringing the worlds back together.

"I guess they don't make evil immortal sorcerers like they used to." Klarion sighed, looking at Scarlet Witch. "Or do they?" Scarlet Witch took a step towards Klarion, her eyes glowing with energy. "Oh, well. Another time, perhaps."

He snapped his fingers and disappeared. Kid Flash sped up to Zatanna. "Aren't you going to stop him?"

"To what end? Klarion is chaos personified. He cannot be contained."

"Fate! Great Nabu, release my daughter." Zatara called up to Zatanna. Fate refused, saying Zatanna was the perfect candidate to be Fate's host. "Take me instead. My powers are at their peak and my body is physically stronger, able to withstand your abilities better. You have my word I will put on the helmet."

Zatanna removed the helmet and hugged her father, watching tearfully as he put on the Helmet of Fate. "Dad, please no! This was my fault! Dad!" She collapsed to the ground and the team was next to her in an instant as her father took the remaining sorcerers away, disappearing into the night. "What have I done?"

"My room is right next door if you ever need anything." M'gann assured Zatanna as Artemis, her, Wanda, and Robin helped move boxes into her new room.

"Thanks, I could use a little uh, space right now."

"Of course."

Everyone started to leave the room. "Wanda, wait. I need to talk to you." Wanda paused, watching as the other three filed out of the room. She turned, looking as Zatanna closed the door. "Wanda...when I was wearing the Helmet, I could see Klarion's magical signature surrounding you, inside of you. Why is that?"

Wanda kept her face neutral. "I don't know much about my past at Cadmus, Zatanna. I don't know what they did to me before they woke me up a year ago. I don't know who ordered mine and Pietro's creation or why or how we got our powers. Yes, we are meta human. But I don't know how they ensured we got the meta gene. For all I know, they used chaos magic to make it happen."

"Wanda-"

"What do you want me to say, Zatanna? That I am Klarion's apprentice or something? Because I'm not. I don't know why everyone keeps saying I have chaos surrounding me, I am trying my best. I'm sorry it is not good enough."

"Wanda-"

"You said you needed space, Zatanna, so I'll give you space. Good night." Wanda left the room, a twinge of guilt eating at her for her attitude towards Zatanna. She knew the girl was worried about her and rightfully so, but she couldn't afford to have anyone figure out the truth.

The less people that knew the easier it would be.
