Taehyung's POV
"Listen carefully, you don't have much time." It was like we leaned in closer, our elbows resting on our thighs, eyes focused on the screen directly in front of us on the wall. "Get to the top floor, where the trampoline was. There's a motion sensor, so whenever one of you steps onto the trampoline, the roof will open up." We nodded.
"Fly out of headquarters. Yoongi, you have an ability to locate both living and dead things, kind of like an x-ray. Use that to locate where the target is since the map won't be able to be used outside of the building." We nodded again, listening closely. "Once you locate the enemy, draw him away from the rest or any crowd of any sort. Work together to rid of the enemy."
"Then after we finish him off?" Jungkook asked, eyes beginning to change into a glowing orange. "Then look for the next target and keep going. This will be your job every single day until the threats are over and the God of the Underworld draws back his minions." I nodded, letting ice form at my feet.
"You can count on us, Drift. We'll be back to the castle at nightfall." Drift chuckled from the other end of the call, nodding his head up and down. The map he formed disappeared, only his face left in the picture. "Oh, trust me, I know. Illume wanted me to tell you that supper is at seven-thirty on the dot," Drift said, flashing a smirk.
"And he doesn't like to be kept waiting. We'll see you at seven, Elementals. Best of luck." He was gone after that, the screen turning black but the beeping sound from the map never shutting off. Namjoon pressed the grey button, the coffee table changing back to its original state.
"Come on, we don't have time to waste. We need to eliminate as many as we can before we have too much on our hands." We hummed in agreement, getting up from the couches and heading to the top floor, where we came from. As soon as we stepped onto the trampoline, the roof opened up, our wings appearing again.
"Ready?" I asked, joining hands with the others. They flashed a smirk, moving their heads up and down, the seven of us launching ourselves into the air and taking off. The roof shut closed immediately after we emerged from the building, all seven of us flying vertically.
"All yours, Yoongs."
He spread his wings open completely, allowing us to see the design he was gifted. His magic came free, creating something around us, allowing us to see just where the target was. "Lead the way, Spirit boy," Jimin teased, yelling over his wind. Yoongi just laughed, his grey and white specs of magic following him as he took off north.
It didn't take long before we spotted something suspicious heading towards the city. It was a human-like creature with bones sticking out of his head, looking similar to antlers. "What's the plan, Joon?" Jin asked, slowing down a bit in speed as we neared the enemy. He was screaming, and not pleasantly either. His screams made us cringe and shiver. God, they were awful.
"Plan is to draw him out. Kook, think you can do that?" Jungkook smirked, letting his body be consumed in fire. "On it," He said, wrapping his wings around his body and diving down. I watched, seeing his giant ball of fire form around him, encasing him completely.
The enemy's eyes immediately found him, the fire so thick you could barely make out Jungkook's body. We followed him, watching as he flew behind a building, the target right on his tail. This guy was fast, and that was probably not a good thing. "Jimin, form a wind barrier that he can't escape from."
"Hoseok, think you can electrify the buildings? Make sure he gets hurt by touching simple things." Hoseok nodded, sparks beginning to fly off his body. "Jin and Taehyung," Namjoon called out, flipping around so that he faced us, "hold him down." We nodded, diving downwards, seeing Jimin's wind barrier form around the area.
Lightning strikes hit the buildings, sparks flying everywhere. Jungkook was flying in circles for a bit, finally settling on the ground, fire around his body. I let my wings disappear, falling to the ground and slamming my fist onto the pavement. Ice formed, coating the ground and encasing the target's feet.
He kept screaming, arms flying in the air, eyes narrowing a bit. Jin used his vines to pin the guy's arms behind his back, finally landing on the ground. Yoongi went invisible, letting his wings disappear as the seven of us finally touched the floor. Namjoon was the first to make a move, a beam of light flying from his palm.
"What were your orders?" We heard Namjoon ask, the enemy's head tilting to the right. "As if I'd tell you! Who sent you? You're not working for Ozagi!" Water began to form around me, waves circling my body, my charm around my neck glowing brightly.
"You're right, we're not. We wouldn't stoop so low to work with evil." With that, Namjoon formed a ball of light in his palms, sending it straight for the enemy, letting it hit its heart. The enemy screamed out, this time in pain, turning into specs of dust and dissipating into thin air.
"Come on, we can't stay here forever. Yoongi, where's the next target?" Yoongi's magic formed again, his eyes reading the little map he made. "We've got company, and they're on the run. We'll split up. Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook, head north for another mile or two, you'll run into two enemies."
"And you four?" Jimin asked, arms crossed over his chest, hair flying in all directions as the wind flew around us. "We'll head west. There are three in that direction, two closer than the third. When that's over, meet back here." Yoongi raised his palm into the air, forming a star of some sort.
"It's a marker. It doesn't matter where you are, you'll be able to see it." We nodded, taking off and splitting up. "So, Taehyung," Jimin spoke up, the three of us flying north and heading for the targets. I hummed, glancing at him, pushing myself to fly faster. "What's the plan?" Jungkook hummed too, joining in on the conversation.
"The plan is to not die. We work together, don't do anything that'll injure the innocent civilians. No nature disasters or anything of that sort," I said, glancing down at the city below us. "Got it, what else?" I smirked, spinning in the air, letting my arms outstretched.
"We switch enemies every now and then. Don't focus on only one, make sure the other isn't planning an attack on us while we have our backs turned." Jungkook snickered, flying past me. "Never turn your back on your enemy, right?" I nodded, spotting someone down on the streets below, vines for hair and dark spots under their eyes.
"Think you can handle it for now? I'm going to try and locate the other target. You two can start with this one." They nodded, diving down, both of them letting their magic run loose. I flew around, landing on top of a building and scanning the city. Yoongi said there was another one close by, so, where was he?
I focused on the streets below, glancing over at my friends, watching as they dragged the target away, shooting their magic at him. Where was this other one? Where was he hiding?
The sound of something hitting the concrete made my head turn, my eyes narrowing as something shiny appeared in my line of sight. That looks like a forcefield, but it couldn't be. Something was thrown at me, my water magic forming a barrier around me and stopping it.
"Impressive." A voice called out, deep and hoarse. I turned, my back facing the city, my eyes focused ahead of me. "Don't think I've seen you around before, and you certainly don't look like someone on Ozagi's side. Who are you?" I closed my eyes, letting my magic do the work. Find him.
"As if that's your concern," I replied, hearing a laugh ring through my ears. "Feisty one, aren't you?" I snickered, feeling my ice magic wrap around my legs and spiraling up to my hips. Water danced around my arms and chest, forming a wave behind me. "Call me whatever you wish, but let me tell you a little secret,"
"It won't be for long." Water was sent directly towards the voice, his figure finally coming into view. A curse fled his lips, his invisibility vanishing. "Not so invisible when you're drenched, huh?" His eyes met mine, the black color only darkening. "Who do you work for?"
"As I said, that's none of your concern." My ice formed around his legs and hands, freezing him completely, the water only helping the situation we were in. He groaned and cursed, losing control of his arms and legs, only his upper body left to move around. "What the hell are you? No one under Ozagi's control has two powers!"
"Then maybe it should dawn on you that I'm not working with Ozagi." He growled, like actually growled, a weird liquid pouring from his mouth. I jumped back instantly, finding myself falling off the roof, my wings forming again and pushing me back up. I glanced down at the street, watching as fire lit up the area.
"Let's see how your fire friend loves a good explosion," The mysterious enemy said, smirking as the liquid began to fall off the building. Fuck, that can't be good. Jungkook won't hear me, especially not from up here. My ice and water magic did the work for me, managing to somehow scoop up the liquid and toss it back at the target. He screamed, sizzling heard.
"So, you can release this from your mouth but can't handle when it gets on you? Interesting." Another snicker left my lips, my ice magic encasing his body, compacting while he screamed again. "Pretty useless power then. Tell me, how do you feel about being frozen alive?" His narrowed eyes met mine, lips forming a scowl.
"You wouldn't!" I raised my palm into the air, aiming it right at his face. "Try me." His face grew encased in ice, shutting him up and freezing his lips and eyes together. His whole body was frozen, my ice compacting tighter so that there was no way he could escape. "Just so no one is able to revive you," I whispered, using water to raise the ice into the air and over the roof of the building.
"I'm going to kill you," I laughed, removing my water magic, letting the ice plummet down to the street below. When it hit, you could hear the impact, the ice shattering into pieces, and the body of the enemy no longer whole. I smiled, checking the roof once more and flying down to where Jungkook and Jimin were.
Ice coated the streets, a smirk placed onto my face. "Need a hand?" I teased, lowering myself to the ground, standing between my lover and my friend. They smirked too, facing the enemy who had grown in size. "Tell me, what's his power?" Jungkook jumped back, dodging a hit from the enemy.
"Seems to grow in size when he gets angrier. Grew a tail, somehow," Jungkook shouted, shooting a fireball at the enemy. I cocked an eyebrow, watching as the tail swung around, the three of us ducking to the floor. Okay. So he does have a tail, perfect.
"Jimin, think you can send those winds of yours straight at his face?" He nodded, spinning on the ground, his winds picking up speed. "Jungkook, aim for the stomach and blast a hole through him." Jungkook nodded, taking a step back and letting a ball of fire form in front of him.
"I'll hold him down!" I shouted, getting ready to take off. "Be careful, Taehyung! He's growing bigger and you may not be able to stop that!" I smiled, sprinting forward, ice forming beneath my feet and allowing me to skate. I slid under his tail, using water and ice and trap his feet, pillars of ice forming up to pin his hands.
The ice doubled in size and kept him steady, cracking heard from the ground. "We don't have all day! Attack, now!" I shouted as I raced back to my team, spotting Jimin running at the enemy with insane winds around him. Jungkook fired the fireball at the target's stomach, screams heard.
I formed ice spikes in my hands, throwing them forward and watching them fly through his legs. "Now or never! Kill him!" Jungkook shouted, fire forming around his fist and legs. We all ran forward, using our magic and attacking him dead on. Then, just like that, he was gone, specs of dust flying into the air.
"We did it," I said, breathing heavily and looking around. Our magic began to disappear, our wings forming again. The marker in the sky that Yoongi formed was a clear indication of where we needed to meet up again. I flew up first, waiting for the other two. Then, we all flew back towards the marker.
"What next?" Jimin asked, spiraling in the air. "We'll have to figure that out when we meet back up with Yoongi and the others." They nodded, the three of us heading directly for the marker. "That enemy we just ganged upon, that was one of the weakest enemies we'll fight, wasn't it?" I gulped, glancing at Jimin. "Yeah."
"Something tells me we're in for a lot more than we trained for."
