- Kim Taehyung, right? -
Taehyung's POV
"Calling all Elementals to the dining room. Calling all Elementals to the dining room. Calling all-"
"Shut up! For fuck's sake!" Jungkook shouted, a groan leaving my lips as light shine into the room, the phrase repeatedly said over and over again. I groaned again, pushing myself up from the mattress, blinded by the light yet again.
"This light will kill my eyes," I spat, sleepily rubbing at my tired eyes, yawning as I outstretched my arms. I popped my back, standing up from the bed and looking around the room, having to squint as the phrase continued to repeat.
"Good morning, Elementals! Please report to the dining room in fifteen minutes. Shower and prepare for your first day of team training. Let's get moving!" Jungkook groaned loudly, tossing and turning as Illume's voice filled the room.
I looked down at my necklace, noticing that both the black rose and the dolphin were still neatly placed around my neck, no scratches or cracks in either of them, despite me sleeping with it. I smiled, heading down the spiral staircase and glancing up at Jungkook's loft.
"Showering first!" I shouted, hearing him groan again. "Yeah, yeah, whatever! Stop bugging me!" I snickered, heading to my closet and grabbing a fresh set of clothes, walking into the bathroom right after. I turned on the water, stripping and taking my shower for the day.
Five minutes later I was done, breathing heavily due to the fact that I rushed out of the shower. I dried off the water dripping from my body, slipping on my outfit, and walking out of the bathroom, towel in hand as I attempted to dry my hair.
"Jeon! Shower! We have ten minutes!" I shouted, messing with the necklace around my neck, still trying to dry my hair. He growled, looking down at me from the top of his loft. "I'll fucking burn you, Kim." I snickered, flipping him off. "Try me, Jeon! I don't make the rules!"
Sparks flew from his fingertips, stopping a few seconds later. "Ugh!" I laughed, hearing him stomp down the stairs, his features contorted into ones of anger and frustration. "Can never fucking sleep in! I swear I'm going to kill someone!" I pat his back, pushing him towards the bathroom.
Once my hair was fairly dry, I looked around the room, seeing if I needed anything else for the day. When I was sure I didn't, I cracked my knuckles, heading for the door to Jungkook's and I's shared room. I battled with my mind, looking back at the bathroom, wondering if I should wait for him.
"Not like he'll actually be grateful for it anyway," I spat, twisting the doorknob, shutting my eyes tightly and groaning aloud. "Oh for crying out loud," I barked out, turning away from the door and sitting down at the small table we had in the room.
"I swear, if I get mad at the fact that he's ungrateful, I'll hate myself." I rolled my eyes, taking a deep breath as I glanced at the time, seeing we had seven minutes left before we had to meet in the dining hall. I tapped my fingers against the wood, silence filling the room.
Ice formed on my fingers, my smile returning as I saw my magic power. I played around with it for a bit, shooting some ice out onto the table, a thin layer of sleet covering the tabletop. The door from the bathroom opened, Jungkook finally walking out.
"You waited?" He asked, sounding surprised when he noticed me sitting in the chair. I hummed, glancing his way and nodding. "Yeah. We have, like, three minutes. Let's go." He nodded, hanging his towel behind the bathroom door, jogging over to the main door of the room with me.
We walked out, shutting our bedroom door and heading for the dining hall. It was silent for the most part, the two of us looking straight ahead and walking down the stairs. "Thanks," He whispered, so quietly I barely caught it. "For what?"
"For waiting. Usually, people just go on without me." I tensed up at his words, heart racing within my chest while I gulped nervously. "Yeah, no problem," I replied after a moment of silence, my eyes seeming to scan over the large hallways of Illume's palace.
"Come on, teammate. Let's get some breakfast," I spoke, turning around to see him stopped in the middle of the hallway, staring at the decorations. He whipped his head around, eyes wide while his gaze met mine. I flashed a small smile, changing it into a smirk and calling him over.
He smiled, even if it was for a millisecond.
I saw him smile.
It was cute.
Wait, what? I shook my head, pushing the door to the dining room open, glancing around to see Namjoon and Seokjin already seated at the table. "Hey, guys!" Namjoon shouted, patting the seat next to him, flashing a wide grin. I nodded, pulling Jungkook with me, the two of us sitting down beside Namjoon and Jin.
"How are you two getting along?" I glanced at Jungkook, seeing him already staring at me, a smirk plastered on his face. "You're kidding, right? Me, the elemental of Fire, getting along with Kim, the elemental of Water and Ice? No way!" I stifled a laugh, shooting him a playful glare.
"Yeah, no way would I ever get along with him." Jin smiled while Namjoon rolled his eyes, his grin remaining upon his face. "Yeah, well, news going around is that you and Jungkook here had an argument last night. Man, Illume was furious."
"I'm his human, remember?" Namjoon clarified after reading my confused expression, my eyes widening in realization. "Right. Sorry, I forgot. Yeah, uh, we had an argument. Guess you could say we didn't quite see eye to eye." Jin nodded, glancing at Jungkook.
"Things are good now, correct? I mean, you two don't exactly look like you're at one another's throats." I snickered, glancing at Jungkook who did the same, "I still dislike him." Jungkook punched me, rolling his eyes. "Yeah, well, you aren't exactly likable, Taehyung."
Ouch.
That hit close to home.
"Are you sure it's me and not you that's unlikable?" I spoke, seeing Hoseok, Yoongi, and Jimin walk in. I flashed a small smile at them, seeing Jimin and Hoseok wave my way. Jungkook snickered again, nodding slowly.
"Surely it can't be me." I laughed, sending another glare his way. "Go fuck yourself, Jeon," I smirked, hearing him laugh and seeing him smirk as well. We ate breakfast in silence, sort of. There was small talk that filled the table, this time I participated.
"So, Kim Taehyung is your name, correct?" Yoongi spoke randomly, his voice deadly calm, eyes flickering up to meet my own. "Yeah, sadly." Jimin furrowed his eyebrows, tilting his head to the side. "Sadly? Do you not like your name?" I shook my head. "I like my first name, just not my last."
"Why is that?" Jin asked, meeting my gaze, chewing on a piece of pancake. "Might be because he's a part of the Kims, a well-known family because of their wealth. Also known for their spoiled and cocky ways, flashing their money off to the poor, making them feel terrible."
"Business partners of one of Seoul's most popular companies," He spoke, the words rolling off his tongue as if he was all too familiar with them. His gaze met mine, a smirk upon his features. "Am I wrong?" I grit my teeth, everything he said is exactly the truth.
"Wish you were."
He snickered, stuffing some food in his mouth. "Although," He continued, setting his drink down and staring at me. "You seem to be the exception from the Kims, yeah?" I shrugged, suddenly not feeling so hungry anymore. "Suppose so."
"Kim Taehyung, the youngest son of the Kim family, majoring in business at Seoul University. Despite having older siblings that behave the exact same way your parents do, you came out differently. Despises business and doesn't flaunt around the money, correct?" I sighed.
"Correct."
Everyone had gone silent, my eyes staring down at my half-empty plate, teeth-gritting as I thought of my family. Bet they didn't miss me. Better yet, I bet they haven't realized I'm gone. All eyes were on me, my heart racing within my chest.
"Seems you've figured it out." I chuckled emotionally, eyes flickering up to meet Yoongi's, his smirk remaining plastered on his face. "Not too hard. I knew it wasn't Namjoon, he doesn't resemble any of the famous Kims and neither does Jin here, my last resort was you."
"Why are you so interested in the Kims anyways?" He laughed, extending a hand, his eyes softening. "Min Yoongi, the second son in the Min family." My eyes widened, lips parting in shock. "Mins own the company." He extended his hand further, motioning for me to take it.
"Nice to meet you, Kim." I took his hand, shaking it, feeling him squeeze it lightly. "Likewise, Min." Jimin giggled, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, but that's a little funny. Your parents are business partners with one another and you two have never met?"
Jimin giggled again, Jin following right behind him. "What were the chances you'd meet here, out of all places?" This time, I laughed, nodding my head while I exchanged one more glance towards Yoongi. "Looking forward to working with ya." He nodded, continuing to eat.
When breakfast was over, Illume burst through the door, a wide grin upon his face. "Team training today!" He shouted, his loud voice echoing off the walls, a small vibration felt from how loud he was. We stood up, gathering in our pairs, and one group, walking out of the dining room.
I saw Soros standing not too far from us, leaning up against a wall. I gave a wide smile, my eyes lighting up when I saw him. "Soros!" His eyes met mine, a laugh leaving his lips when he saw the black rose hanging from my neck. "Hey, Kim."
"Are you coming to training today?" He shook his head, pointing to the portal. "Just here to get you guys there. I'll be leaving after." I frowned but nodded, understanding why he wasn't going to stay. He flashed a smile, pointing to the portal. "Let's get this training started, yeah?"
We all walked through the portal, instantly transported to the training room. This time, it was different. Our initial sections from yesterday were now doubled in size and combined. Fire, Ice, and Water were combined together in the far left corner. Earth and Light were combined in the far right corner.
Air, Lightning, and Spirit were combined in the right corner opposite of Earth and Light. The gods stood in their own area too, which happened to be opposite of Jungkook's and I's training area. We each walked to our corners, awaiting instructions from the gods.
"Simulation training."
My eyes widened, my gaze shifting over to Smoldris, seeing him already beginning to walk to the middle of the gigantic training room. "Let's see how fast your reaction speed is, Elementals." With that, fire shot out from his body, palms aimed at the corners, shooting fire onto the walls and floors.
"Work together! You have less than five minutes to put out the fire or the place burns!" Illume shouted, smiling at us while I raised my eyebrows, looking at Jungkook. He was fire, how was he supposed to help? The fire spread quickly, forming a circle around Jungkook and I, leaving us cornered.
"Taehyung, what do we do?" I felt frozen in my place, the fire spreading out of control. The room changed, and now we looked like we were in a city, buildings burning, cars crashing with one another, screams filling the room. I gulped, looking at Jungkook.
He's fire, so, shouldn't that mean he can stop it? I can stop water from flowing out of my palm and fingertips, so shouldn't he be able to stop the fire from spreading as well? I looked at him, his eyes flashing with panic.
"I've got a plan," I spoke, my mind racing, heartbeat heard in my ears. We're Elementals, the humans picked to rid of the evil. This is just our training, but we still need to give it our all. I looked around, seeing the fire spread. "Four minutes!"
"We need to work together, Jungkook. Are you in or not?" I extended my hand, his eyes scanning over me. He nodded, taking my hand in his, squeezing it, and flashing a smile.
"I'm in. Tell me what to do."
