CHAPTER 57

TRIS POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After Tobias told everyone that Tori was coming over for dinner and that she was going to bring Dauntless Cake, well let's just say that Uriah and Zeke started jumping up and down high giving each other looking like 6 year old girls.

I shake my head and walk into the family room to watch a little TV.

All of the girls had followed me and Christina had taken the control out of my hand and turned the TV back off.

"Hey! I was watching that!" I protested.

"We need to talk," Christina told me and Marlene and Shauna nodded. Lynn just sat there looking around the room.

Uh-oh.

That is never good.

"So..... Four told us about how your back still hurts sometimes andddd," she stretches out seeing my reaction, "we just... we would like to know how come you never told us. You don't have to feel embarrassed at all."

Why would Tobias tell everyone? I thought I could trust him. Anger and betrayal boils under my skin and I just sit in shock not knowing what to say.

"Tris?" Marlene asks.

"Yes?" I ask.

"Is it true? What Four said?" Shauna asks cautiously.

I hesitate. I just want to deal with my own problems. Is that so hard to ask?

"Yes. It is true. I have good days and bad days," I say lightly.

"How come you never told us Trissy? You know you can trust us," Christina says and I register the hurt that flashes across her face.

I pull my knees up to my chin and sigh.

"I know I can trust you guys. It's just.... I just want to be treated like everybody else and I don't want anybody to worry about me not being able to do this or that. I don't want you guys to be mad at me," I say honestly.

"We're not mad," Shauna quickly says.

"Tris. I wish you---" Christina gets cut off by Lynn.

"Honestly Chris, Tris told us why she didn't tell us and that's that. Gosh we drag everything out for so long."

Christina sighs and nods.

"I'm sorry too Tris. For thinking you didn't trust us. I should've known better," Christina smiles and opens her arms for a hug.

She put her arms around my neck instead of my back, considering it might not feel well today which was sweet of her.

I pull away. "Hey, I'm going to go wake up my parents. I'll be back." I say.

She nods and I trudge up the stairs still pondering the fact that Tobias would tell everyone that. I just don't understand. I creep into the dark master bedroom and tap on mom's shoulder.

"Mom, its after 5," I whisper.

She rolls over and stretches opening her eyes. She smile at me, but it drops into a frown not even a moment later.

"What's the matter Beatrice?" She asks sitting up.

"Nothing. Why?" I say nonchalantly.

"I have a sense when something is wrong. It's in your eyes."

"Nothing's wrong so...." I whisper.

My mother studies me for a moment longer before a shooing me out of the room so she can get changed.

My feet lead me to the guest bedroom where I was staying for quite a while. I collapse onto the bed and crawl under the covers suddenly cold. I feel my phone vibrate against me and I quickly pull it out to see a text from an unknown number.

Just because Marcus is dead doesn't mean you're safe.

Well then. Talk about being rude. Whatever.

I go through Instagram and Snapchat before I get bored and look up my name on the Internet.

I'm about to click on a link when something flashes outside the window.

But we are on the second story....

I dismiss the thought and blame a bird who probably flew past the window.

Beatrice Prior, age 16 was abused physically and mentally by her adoptive father Marcus Eaton. She was adopted at the age of ten and has endured 6 years of torture. Marcus who recently interrupted her and her friends vacation in Maui, Hawaii was shot by police after whipping his daughter with a belt. He died immediately at the age of 53. Beatrice or as she goes by, Tris, is currently attending Divergent High in Chicago, Illinois. We ask that your thoughts and prayers go to the beautiful young girl that has had a frightful childhood. Click on the link below to watch Beatrice's full documentary.

Everyone knows so much about me. It's quite scary.

I click off my phone not wanting to see anymore and close my eyes. I'm not tired at all I just want to relax and think about literally everything.

I think back to the time when I found out that my parents were actually alive and that Tobias' parents were my parents.....

I shoot up in bed. He's not my adoptive brother is he? If he was adopted under my parents doesn't that mean that.... we are siblings like step sister and brother? No it can't be. That isn't possible is it? I mean they would've told me by now and I think I remember Tobias asking that question before, but it's always good to verify. (AN: IVE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF QUESTIONS AGAIN IN TOBIAS IS TRIS' ADOPTIVE SISTER AND THE ANSWER IS NO, BUT IM GOING TO PUT IT IN THE ACTUAL STORY AGAIN)

I should probably talk to him about that another time. I would go right now, but I'm mad at him. I don't understand why he would tell everybody.

I lay back down again only to hear a noise by my window. Now this is freaky. First, I think I see something and next I hear something.

I walk carefully to my window and peer out. I don't see anything or anybody, but that doesn't help the gnawing feeling in my stomach that something is wrong.

I walk downstairs and Tobias walks over to me and opens his mouth to begin talking to me.

"Don't," I say before he even gets a word out.

The expression on his face breaks my heart in half. He looks confused and hurt that I cut him off, but he shouldn't have betrayed my trust like that in the first place.

I open the front door and slam it shut behind me in his face. I walk around towards the side of the house about to investigate the sound coming from my window when someone grabs my wrist.

I whirl around, my fist clenched, but it's just Tobias.

"What's the matter?" He asks me .

"Let go of me," I say coldly and try to yank my wrist free. His grip is like iron.

"First, you're going to tell me what the matter is," he states.

"Nope. First you are going to let go of me."

"Tris, come on," Tobias pleads with me.

I try to yank my arm away again, but his hand just tightens around my wrist harder.

"Tobias, you're hurting me."

That gets him to let go of me.

I turn around and begin to walk around  to my window, investigating. I see footprints in the snow and begin to follow them.

"Will you at least talk to me?" Tobias asks catching up to me.

"I have more important things to worry about," I snap.

I quicken my pace and head into the backyard where the footprints stop at the tree.

"Someone's been here recently," Tobias says.

"Really," I say sarcastically.

"Why are you mad at me!" Tobias yells.

"Maybe because I thought I could trust you!" I scream back.

"You can! What the heck!" He yells back throwing his hands up in the air

"Nevermind Four," I yell angrily.

"Don't you ever use that name as a weapon against me," Tobias says quietly.

"Oh so now you're going to threaten me?" I scoff.

"I didn't mean--" He begins.

"Just save it, Four." I walk around the side of the tree and I see someone lying in the hammock.

"Caleb?" I say in disbelief.

"Beatrice!" He stands up and embraces me in a hug which I maneuver out of.

"You can't just expect me to hug you after the last time I saw you, you almost got me killed," I say seeing the grief in his eyes.

"I didn't know," Caleb says.

"What is it with everyone not knowing! You didn't know when you injected me with a fear serum that it might have terrible effects? And you! You didn't know that I didn't want everybody knowing that I was hurt? That I had to take medicine! I specifically told you I didn't want anybody knowing, but apparently that doesn't matter! Boys!" I yell and stalk into the house angrily.

As soon as I walk through the door everybody looked up at me, eyes widening when they saw that there are tears running down my face and that my face was a deep red from the cold nipping at me face.

I run up stairs quickly closing and locking my bedroom door. I sink down and put my face in my hands. Can I not trust anybody in this world? I thought I could trust Tobias no matter what, but then he told everybody what was really happening.

"Tris open up, please," Tobias' voice came through the door.

"Just go away," I say my voice cracking.

A few minutes later, another knock is at my door.

"Tris, it's me." Christina.

I unlock the door and let her in and lock it again.

She sits down on the bed, patting the spot next to her.

"Tell me what's the matter. For real."

I take a deep breath and I tell her how I thought I could trust him when I first told him about how some days my back hurt and some days it didn't and i didn't want him telling anybody cause I hadn't wanted anybody to worry.

"I never knew how to trust anybody until I met him. And now I just don't know...." I trail off not knowing what to say anymore.

"Let me tell you what I think. I think you're just a little emotional right now and that you're just mad and overreacting because Four told us something you didn't want him too. It's alright to be like that. Otherwise you wouldn't be human," Christina tells me and rubs my shoulder.

I nod and sigh.

"I'm so stupid," I groan.

"No you aren't. If I were you though, I would hold a grudge just for him to realize how special and lucky he is to have you," Christina smiles and winks.

I laugh and we walk downstairs together making our way to the dining room where dinner is being served. I sit next to Christina as far away as possible from Tobias. Tori comes in and sits next to me smiling.

We eat a simple spaghetti and meatballs all talking about Hawaii and how fun it was.

Before I know it, we are saying goodbye to Tori and mom and dad are telling us that we have to go to bed before 1 so we can get used to the time zone again.

Mom and dad head upstairs and we all gather in the living room sitting in a circle.

"I have an idea. So why don't we play a game where someone asks a question and you go around the circle telling everybody the truth. And if you don't want to answer then at the end of the round, depending on how many people are out you either can choose to do a dare that we come up with or you can just sit and watch the rest of the time. Okay?" Zeke asks.

We all shrug and nod. Seems simple enough.

"Yes! I am just so smart!" Zeke yells.

"I'll start with the question. What's your favorite food? Mines dauntless cake," Uriah rambles.

Zeke~Dauntless cake
Tobias~Dauntless cake
Will~Fried chicken
Peter~Chocolate chip cookies
Christina~Kettle corn
Marlene~Pudding
Shauna~Steak
Lynn~Pasta with a spicy tomato sauce
And finally me, which is vanilla ice cream with chocolate peanut butter cups.

"Zeke's turn," Uriah says clapping.

"Okay umm..... What is your full name besides last name because like duh who cares about last name. Mine is Ezekiel Spencer."

Tobias quickly backs out and so does Will, staring at Christina the entire time. I glance confused at her and she slightly nods at me.

"Christina Anna ."

"Marlene Ally."

"Shauna Catherine."

"Lynn Rose."

"Beatrice Elizabeth."

"Uriah James."

Tobias and Will quickly choose to do the dare and they have to eat a spoonful of wasabi.

They both shove it in their mouths and start screaming as it burns their tongue.

"I feel like I just ate the sun!" Tobias yells. (MODERN FAMILY YAY!)

Everybody laughs and they both fight over the water faucet.

We continue the game and it gets boring after a while.

We all decide to play some stupid hand game which Uriah claims he is he king at, which he isn't obviously. I am, duh.

"Hey, why don't you all lay down now, okay?" Mom comes downstairs and looks at all of us.

We all nod and lay down, but go on our phones.

I open my lock screen and see that I have 1 new text message.

I click on it and see that it is the same unknown number from earlier today.

This time it says, Nobody will be able to protect you, not even your little number boy.

I glance up at Tobias and he looks up when he feels my eyes on him. His eyes light up, but I turn away and feel major guilt pinch my chest.
