Chapter Two

Chapter 2
I never said a word, and pried my eyes away from the unnamed boy. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of me caring about the fact he hit me with a damn ball and now I have to spend the evening with him.

"This is Hayden." Adia said pointing towards the younger boy I recognised from the beach.

"And this is Elliot. Watch out for that one!" Adia and the boys' parents let out a laugh. I attempted a small smile, actually a tad embarrassed. I never thought I'd have to see this boy again.

About ten minutes later, me, my parents, Adia, Hayden, Elliot and his parents were all sitting down around a large table, ready to eat dinner.

It was great catching up with Adia and hearing about all the great adventures she'd been on, like divorcing my uncle (whom none of us ever liked) or when she went swimming with dolphins.

Then we shared our boring life with her, my dad droning on about how his business is growing and my mum talking about her new pregnancy.

This news caused a lot of excitement as it's pretty recent and we haven't told anyone. I'm kind of glad my parents didn't hide it from me too.

The whole time Elliot made sly remarks about what anyone was ever saying. Everyone found them amusing like he was some next type comedian, however me? I found him unbelievably rude and ignorant.

Just like on the beach. Hayden is lovely. How can two brothers look so alike and have the same DNA, yet seem so different personality wise?

I joined in conversation when necessary, but suffered most of the dinner in silence.

When we had finished the dinner, I stood up to help with the dishes. Hayden's and Elliot's parents whom I had learnt their names being Christina and Ray, smiled up at me as a thankyou.

"Elliot, go help Violet with the dishes," Christina ordered. Ha.

Wait, no, not ha. Now I have to be stuck in the kitchen with him.

Abort mission.

He sighed and stood up as our parents eloped backing into their conversation and Hayden seemed to think this was a good time to use the bathroom.

Damn him.

I was in the kitchen before Elliot, already loading the dishwasher and trying to hurry up yet without smashing anything. That'd be super awkward.

I heard footsteps behind me and tried to stay calm, however I could feel my shoulders tensing.

What is wrong with me? I can't deny Elliot is super good looking; just a little more than his little brother. But he seems so full of himself.

Like he's a higher class than everybody around him, and I hated it.

"Your side OK?" He asked, laughing. I glared at him.

"There's a knife right there. I'm not afraid to use it!" I pouted, since where the ball hit me actually kind of hurt. A bruise was forming, but I'm not going to let him know that.

"It's fine though." I turned away and continued to load the dishwasher. He stood by my self, leaning slightly on the counter.

"You know, you're pretty hot." I saw him smirk from the corner of my eyes. Does he think I'm stupid? I have enough sense to realise he's that type of boy.

I try to hide the fact I am blushing like crazy. Why am I blushing? I guess being called hot by a cute boy does that to you.

"Shut up,"

He laughed and nudged my side with his arm, and I winced in pain.

"I'm sorry!" He realised, "wait, I thought you said it was fine?" He reached to pull up my tshirt.

I swatted his hand away angrily. "What do you think you're doing?!" I turned to him.

"Well- I just thought, uhm, I did that," he pointed to my side.

"I've known you what? A day? No- forget that, I just about know your name." I huffed. "OK, I have a slight bruise. But I don't need a boy I met two seconds ago who caused it to do anything about that!"

He seemed surprised. "Okay.." He held his hands up. "Sorry then."

He walked back into the dining room.

As I joined everybody back in the dining room, Adia thanked me and suggested we all go to the late night cinema together. This all seems so rushed but I didn't protest. I've known my aunt's friends for a day, and we're doing things I'd do with my friends I'd known for a while.

My parents seemed to love the idea. I was so tired at this point however, I think I'd fall asleep there.

"Actually, I still have a bit of jet lag, is it OK for me to be excused for this?" I turned to Adia.

"Actually, I think Elliot and Hayden should go home too. Maybe we could watch a better film then," Ray joked.

"They could all stay here. I mean, there's two guest rooms since I'm on my own," Adia suggested. I looked up from staring at my lap and shook my head, "Oh, no, really. I'd be fine on my own,"

My mum shook her head. "She's right, it's safer. We don't know this area."

So that was that. I'd be safer with two boys we don't know, than on my own locked in a house? Logical.

As they got their stuff ready and rushed out the house, chatting about seeing the movie about shades of grey or something similar, I lay down on the sofa.

"Don't make yourself too comfortable there, love. Tonight's gonna be a wild night." Elliot winked.

I hate my parents.
