Chapter 1

"Dirtkit!"

Dirtkit jumped at the sound of his name, and the squirrel he was stalking ran away. He growled as the squirrel swiftly climbed a tree and disappeared. He sighed as the world around him blurred and started to fade, and he was plunged back into reality. Dirtkit glared at the cat standing over his nest. "Why tho?"

His green-eyed sister stood at the entrance of the nursery, blocking the sunlight. "You were having the cliché hunting dream again." Grasskit meowed. "We're gonna be apprentices today, mouse-brain."

Dirtkit planted his face into his mossy nest. But I don't wanna get up, he thought to himself. "Leave me alone." He said, voice muted by moss.

Grasskit snorted and left the den. Thinking he was left to continue sleeping, Dirtkit snuggled deep into his nest. After a few heartbeats, a heavy weight fell on top of him. Letting out a muffled screech, he struggled out of the massive pile of dirt that now took up half of the den. At least it's dirt, he thought as he ran his paws through the soft, rich soil.

Dirtkit stared at Grasskit, who had an amused look on her face. "Did you...?" Dirtkit started to question.

"Don't worry about it." Grasskit replied, turning and stalking away.

Dirtkit touched the beautiful brown mass one last time, then climbed over it and out of the den. As he stepped out into the camp, he took a deep breath and gazed around the camp. LeafClan was literally the same as every other camp in existence. Bramble wall, thorn barrier... Most of the dens were conveniently large bushes placed conveniently near the conveniently grown barrier surrounding the convenient hollow that makes up the camp. To the left of the thorn barrier was the medicine cat den. It was made of vines and branches woven through the roots of a tree protruding through the camp wall. There was a large tree towards the back of the camp, with a hole near the bottom that extends a little further into the ground. That was the leader's den. And right in front of that was the unnaturally large pile of leaves called the leaf pile. That's where Galestar addresses the Clan.

As if on cue, Galestar's confident voice rang across the camp, "All cats gather beneath the Leaf Pile for an apprentice ceremony thingy!" He yowled, appearing in front of his den.

Cats started to gather around the huge pile of leaves. Grasskit was one tail-length in front of Dirtkit, as if he wasn't just standing there, describing the camp in precise detail to all you reader. Because he wasn't.

Dirtkit and Grasskit padded up to Deerfrost, who was already fussing over Barkkit. "Barkkit you have to care for your fur! Did you ever hear the elders' story about how a cat lost his fur because he never cleaned it?" She fretted.

Barkkit looked up at her with an annoyed expression. "Literally nobody has ever said that before."

"He's right; the Internet says so." Dirtkit showed Deerfrost his phone, which just had his favorite picture of dirt on it.

"I don't care if that's soil! It's dirt to me."
Dirtkit

Deerfrost was unconvinced and started to clean her other two kits' fur. "Oh, you two are covered in dirt! Dirtkit did you throw dirt at Grasskit again? You know you can't do that when you're warriors." She scolded.

Bruh, Dirtkit rolled his eyes as Grasskit gave him a smug look. Deerfrost always thinks that everything The dirt-related has to do with me!

Galestar was perched on a low branch above the Leaf Pile. As the Clan gathered around the Leaf Pile, Galestar majestically leaped off the branch and landed on top of the pile, only to sink deep into the mass of leaves. A few heartbeats passed, and Galestar's head appeared through the leaves. "Dirtkit, Grasskit, Barkkit, come here."

Ugh, that is sooo stupid. I don't like it, Dirtkit I thought as the three kits padded up to their leader. Galestar cleared his throat. "Kits, you are now old enough to give your entire life to hunt and fight and take care of the Clan and stuff. From now on, until you receive your warrior name that is gonna be chosen against your will, you will be known as Dirtpaw, Grasspaw, and Barkpaw." He paused, thinking for a bit.

"Dirtpaw, your mentor will be Birchwhisker. I honestly don't care what he teaches you, just don't kill anybody. Barkpaw, your mentor will be Lilyjump. Same as before, teach him whatever. And finally Grasspaw-"

"Actually for plot convenience I want to be a medicine cat," Grasspaw interrupted.

Galestar blinked at her. "Okay then, Raindapple, you are now the mentor of Grasspaw. Now y'all do the nose touch thing."

Birchwhisker looked down at Dirtpaw with pride. "I'm gonna teach you things. Motivational words! Exciting promises that I probably won't keep! Etcetera!"

This is gonna be a loooong apprenticeship, Dirtpaw sighed. Suddenly, Randompaw appeared in the scene! Dirtpaw glared at him. "And where were you young man?"

"First of all I'm older than you, second of all I was uh, doing my business in the dirtplace. Ya know? Sometimes you just can't hold it in..." Randompaw awkwardly explained.

"That's not appropriate you know?"

"Yeah I know that."

Raindapple led Grasspaw away to the medicine den, and Cherrytalon dragged Randompaw to the elder's den with a stick and mouse bile.

Birchwhisker tapped Dirtpaw on the shoulder. "Do you want a tour of the territory?"

Dirtpaw shrugged.

"Ok."

So I'm probably going to update two or three times a month, and I'm making another story too because I'm sad. Anyways here's a chapter.
