"What are you going to do about it?"
"You little shit!" Jimin roared as that comment tipped him over the edge, finally yanking his wrists free of the guard's grasp, and that was when all hell broke loose once again.
The man who was holding Jimin in place was caught off guard and Jimin used the element of surprise to throw the guard's arms back and send a solid kick to his chest.
The other guards were momentarily surprised, and the Bangtan members (+Yoona) were trained and alert enough to know that this was their chance.
Yoona twisted her wrists free and threw her head back with as much force as she could muster, smiling as it collided with the man's face. Ignoring the pounding in her head, she quickly spun around and was satisfied with the blood running down the man's nose.
In the split second she spent admiring the impact, the man sent a punch to her stomach and knocked her backwards, causing her to wheeze slightly, but she rapidly recovered and grabbed the hilt of her sword, smoothly pulling it out from its sheath on her hip.
It was either over confidence or plain stupidity that Melantha didn't confiscate their weapons, really.
The guard snarled, edging forward, and Yoona didn't give him enough time to plan an attack before swinging her sword - feigning right only to jab to the left, into his side. The man let out a grunt as he fell to the ground, and Yoona took the opportunity for a final blow to the head to knock him unconscious.
Then it suddenly struck her.
She'd just had her first real fight.
And she'd won.
"Don't just stand there and smile, Yoona!" Taehyung knocked her arm, breaking her out of her trance.
Now is not the time to daydream, she chastised herself before observing her surroundings. All the other guards were knocked down, of course, but she could see more guards flooding in from the side entrance.
As long as she didn't have to fight the horrible half human half monster things, she thought with a shudder, before taking up a fighting stance as the guards surrounded them. The corners of her lips curled up into a slight smirk.
Let's do this.
Jimin released an arrow straight into the chest of one of the oncoming guards; his aim never missed. He didn't enjoy killing, but with the opposition set out with a murderous motive there was nothing he could do, nothing else they could do in this moment and so it was a fight to the death, unfortunately. When your weapon of choice is a bow and arrow you don't really have the option of knocking someone unconscious.
The eldest of the Maknae line glanced over at the only girl on their team and a small smile crept onto his face as he watched Yoona fight excellently for someone who hadn't been training as long as they had. She was perfectly capable of holding her own, and even dominating the opponent.
And in that second he paused to watch her, a kick landed in his back and he stumbled but quickly regained balance, spinning around to finish the man off.
Not more than 20 minutes later the room was cleared, all guards unable to fight and on the ground. Namjoon had the last hit, landing a bone crushing punch in the chest that sent the man flying out of the window, literally. Yoona looked on in awe as the man sailed through the air and smashed through the window, like something off a film. She mentally admired the leader's super strength before regrouping with the others.
"Where are Melantha and Jungkook?!" Jimin exclaimed, running his eyes across the room and sighing in frustration that they weren't present.
"They must have slipped out whilst we were busy," Jin frowned. "And Yoongi?"
"He's here," Hoseok gestured to his back, to the still unconscious Yoongi who Hoseok was holding up in some what of a piggy back.
"Okay good. Now we need to find them again," Namjoon hurried, motioning for the others to follow him. Hoseok eventually gave up scurrying awkwardly with the older boy slipping all the time and just brought out his wings, hovering next to them as they ran, with Yoongi more securely placed on his back with the support of his wings.
"Where could they be?!" Jimin ran his hands through his hair, while they paused at the end of the corridor. They'd ran this way and that, kicking down a few doors as quickly as they could but not being able to find them.
Suddenly Taehyung and Yoona glanced at each other and communicated through their eyes, giving a quick nod.
"Okay we think we have an idea!" V grinned as he took off, the others following immediately after him. When Yoona and Taehyung had been searching for Yoongi, they'd come across a lab amidst all the very similar rooms, and now that's where they figured the pair would be. Because if that was the lab where they kept all the chemicals and serums, there'd be a secret escape from there as well, there had to be. So if Yoona's guess was correct, Mel and Jungkook's plan was to grab the serums and get out of there as soon as possible, hoping that their guards and monsters would have finished off all the idols.
Yoona grinned. Too bad that's not how it goes in reality.
Taehyung led them to the particular door in no time, though how he managed to remember which one it was when all the doors looked the same was admirable.
"What about Yoongi hyung?" Hoseok piped up and Namjoon tensed. They couldn't put the poor boy in any more danger.
"Stay outside with him and protect him, Hobi, Namjoon suggested, and Hoseok nodded. "Shout for me if you need me."
With a quick glance to check everyone was okay and ready, Taehyung held out his sword before ramming his foot into the door, slamming it inwards.
And sure enough, both heads of the boy and girl shot upwards from where they were packing small bottles and vials into a bag.
"Oh, you're earlier than I expected," Melantha smiled, giving them a once-over and feigning disappointment. "And still looking fine, I see."
And it was true. They'd gotten off pretty much unscathed, much to their pleasure and advantage.
"Such a shame," Jimin took a step forward, but Jin placed a hand on the younger's wrist to stop him from getting hasty.
"I guess we'll have to get our hands dirty, won't we Jungkook-ah?" Melantha sighed, stepping forward with a sinister smile. Jungkook shrugged with a smirk, and Yoona's hurt converted to anger. She was desperate to wipe that filthy smug smile off his lips.
"What are we waiting for then?!" Taehyung sliced his sword through the air, just skimming Melantha's arm as she dodged.
They knew how good of a fighter Jungkook was, they'd witnessed it many times, which was a problem - he was one of the best. Regarding Melantha, Yoona didn't know but the others knew that she was also ruthless, and would have only perfected her brutal technique in the time she spent keeping a low profile.
Taehyung and Namjoon faced the girl herself whilst Jimin and Jin took on their ex-maknae. Yoona was split on who to help, really.
Should she fight her ex-fake -boyfriend (she's guessing that's what he is now) or the girl who was the root of every single problem they were now suffering?
And then the decision was made for her.
It was too close range for Jimin to use his bow and so he kept his specialty weapon slung across his back and was instead simply using his fists. But Jungkook was a stronger close combat fighter and had his small dagger to his advantage, and when Yoona saw the younger boy block Jimin's punch and twist his arm before slashing his knife across his thigh, she yelled and lunged, aiming for Jungkook's arm with her sword.
But of course, he was alert and already saw her coming, grabbing her outstretched arm and disarming her in one fluid motion.
She found herself with her back pressed against Jungkook's chest, his knife situated uncomfortably close to her throat.
Jimin's and Jin's eyes blazed as they halted in their actions. Jimin growled, glaring at the younger boy with such hatred.
"Let her go, haven't you hurt her enough," He snapped, stepping closer.
"Nuh uh uh, Jiminie hyung, I wouldn't do that if I was you," Jungkook chuckled, trailing the knife closer as Yoona's breath hitched.
"Let. Her. Go. Jungkook." Jin gritted his teeth, readying his shurikens.
Jungkook simply smiled, lowering the knife slowly down until he reached her stomach, settling the knife there.
Yoona panicked.
"No!" She shrieked, startling the boy and grabbing his wrist, twisting it with as much force as she could muster. Jimin used this moment to latch his hands onto Yoona's waist and pull her closer to him and Jin flicked his wrist expertly, sending a shuriken spinning swiftly through the air.
And embedding itself in Jungkook's chest.
The boy slumped to the ground, eyes wide and mouth ajar.
No. No. No.
"Jungkook!" Yoona whispered, her knees giving way as her hand weakly reached out for the boy who was laying in the ground clutching his chest.
A strong pair of arms encircled her body before she hit the ground; Jimin clasped her close to him, gently stroking her hair.
"Shh, it's okay, it's okay," He mumbled in her ear, she stared at Jungkook with tears collecting in her eyes, before tearing her gaze away.
Jimin cupped her cheeks and gave her a comforting smile.
"You're strong. I know you are," He whispered, and she offered a weak smile.
"Come on, we don't have much time," They turned around and gasped.
Taehyung was on the floor clutching his stomach. Jin was tending to the boy, desperately pulling at his hands to check the wound.
Namjoon was defending himself from the onslaught of blows that were being rained upon him by Melantha, his mace long forgotten on the other side of the room.
"Why isn't he able to overpower her? He has the strength?" Yoona muttered.
Jimin frowned, before Taehyung stuttered out, "She m-managed to i-inject the ability-weakening s-serum," He groaned after finishing the sentence and Jin brought the boy closer to him, pressing his own hand against the blood wound.
But they didn't have time to stop and help much, as they could see Namjoon was weakening from whatever chemical she had managed to get into his system, and was simply holding up in his arms in defence.
Before she could strike another blow, Jimin lunged and dragged Namjoon out of the way, just as she brought her sword down.
She laughed as she looked up.
"Look at you, a pitiful bunch," She smiled, taking in the sight. Namjoon was kneeling on the floor clutching his head. Tae and Jin were still trying to stem the blood flow, and of course Hoseok and Yoongi weren't even in the room.
Yoona and Jimin were the only two left standing, glaring at the girl who was smirking at them.
"Last chance join me. We can make the human race stronger, from the weaklings that they are at the moment," She offered, as if she was offering for them to join her to watch a film at the cinema.
"No thanks," Jimin snarled, lashing out and kicking his boot-clad foot at her stomach. But Mel's reflexes were fast, and she kicked his leg away and swung her sword, Jimin only managing to sidestep in time as the blade swung down and cut a gash in his upper arm.
He glanced at it before gritting his teeth and swinging a punch to her jaw, managing to hit the spot and he watched her with satisfaction as she stumbled backwards.
Melantha cursed before kicking out suddenly, pulling Jimin's legs from underneath him and as he temporarily lost balance, lifted her dagger and poised it ready to slam down into Jimin's chest.
In that moment, it was like time slowed down.
Yoona's eyes widened as she realised what was happening and, stepping out of her trance she lunged forward, pushing Jimin out of the way.
She refused lose Jimin.
She'd already lost Jungkook, she wasn't losing Jimin as well.
In what felt like slow motion, her body acted on its own accord as her arm jerked forward, plunging the blade sword deep into Melantha's chest, buried to the hilt.
"Killed by your own blade," Yoona sneered, the words leaving her mouth without her knowing.
Jimin froze, Yoona froze.
They stared as the girl dropped to the floor with a surprised expression permanently etched on her face as she fell to the floor, most definitely lifeless.
Time froze.
What do we do now?
"Holy- " Namjoon let out a stream of curse words that snapped Jimin and Yoona out of their haziness.
"What happened?! Is Tae okay?" They scurried over to the others, kneeling down.
"He's okay, we just need to get him out and patch him up," Jin nodded. "But that's not the main problem."
Namjoon pointed to the side of the room where there was a small red light flashing. Upon closer inspection the pair realised what it was.
"Oh my god, we need to get out of here!" Jimin stood up, brushing down his legs and motioning for the other to get up too.
"Must be a self destruct bomb, Melantha must have set it to explode after those two left," Namjoon grumbled, helping Jin to gently lift Taehyung off the ground and onto his back.
"Come on, there's only 3 and a half minutes," Namjoon muttered. "We need to get the other idol groups out if they're not already!"
"Come on," Jimin took Yoona's hand and tried to follow the others out of the door, but she stood firmly, gazing at the fallen boy.
Jin, realising her desire, quickly looked at Jimin.
"Bring her out before the timer runs out; we'll go on ahead."
Jimin nodded quickly and they left in a hurry, grabbing Hoseok and Yoongi who were waiting patiently outside.
Yoona stepped over to the boy who had fallen to the ground earlier and knelt beside him, checking for a pulse.
She almost cried when she found it there on his neck. Faint, but present.
"Jungkook?" She whispered tentatively, placing her hand on the boy's cheek to turn his head. His eyes were hazy and unfocused but he was just about alive, barely.
"Jungkook," She breathed, brushing the hair from his forehead. No matter what he did, she couldn't bring herself to hate him, not when she was seeing him on the floor almost dead.
He opened his mouth slightly but Yoona cut in, "Don't apologise. I don't want your apology."
He closed his lips, his eyes drooping to the floor in guilt.
She gently took his blood covered hand and placed it on her stomach, holding it there. His brow furrowed ever so slightly in confusion, but as his eyes focused on the look she was giving him it dawned on him, his eyes widening in shock.
That morning Yoona woke up earlier than him because of morning sickness.
She didn't go to the shop to get eggs, she went to get a-
"I'm p-pregnant, Jungkook."
She heard Jimin's slight hitch of breath behind her, and she closed her eyes, her head hung low.
And then Jungkook coughed lightly, before speaking.
"L-look after e-eomma, o-okay little b-baby?," He stuttered, his voice barely a whisper as his hand lay on her stomach. "A-appa has to g-go now. F-forgive him."
Yoona allowed her tears to flow freely. She couldn't ask for anything more of the boy.
Jimin didn't have time to properly process the information as he glanced at the timer which flashed 30 seconds.
"YOONA!" He shouted, running forward and picking the girl up from the floor into arms, wrapping her securely into his embrace as he looked down at the maknae for the last time. He didn't miss what the boy mouthed to him.
Look after her.
Jimin offered the boy one last tiny smile before running out of the lab and jumping out of the nearest window, his wings automatically spreading out and soaring him and the girl burying her face into his neck as her arms latched tightly around his torso into the early morning sunrise.
His mind constantly hoped that everyone had made it out safely just as the building behind them burst up into flames.
