Awake

Sans woke up in his bed like always, gasping. Papyrus stormed into his room, like always. "SAAANNNNNNSSSSSSS! You lazybones! Wake up! We've got to recalibrate my puzzles! What if a human comes down? We could miss it because of your-" Papyrus paused, looking at Sans. "Sans, why are your clothes all torn up?"

Sans looked down at himself. He looked exactly like how he was before the reset. Odd; normally his clothes would reset too. "Dunno Pap. But I sure am bone-tired."

"SANS YOU LAZYBONES! YOU JUST WOKE UP!" Papyrus pauses before realizing the pun. "SAANNNSSS! THAT WASN'T EVEN A GOOD ONE!" He sighed. "Sans, you should go change. You look like you were mauled by a dog or something!"

"Yeah, I should go change. And maybe shower." Sans agreed, getting out of his bed.

Papyrus gasped. "Sans?! You are... not being lazy for once?!"

"I guess so Pap." Sans smiled lazily and walked to the bathroom, ignoring Papyrus who was screaming in excitement. He teleported a new hoodie and pair of pants in before realizing that the pants were different. He must have left his extra pair of shorts in the pile with all the other clothes he didn't pet in the laundry. Oh well.

Closing the door and taking off his clothes, Sans looked at himself in the mirror, subconsciously running his finger along the scar on his chest. Warm water ran along his bones as he stood in the shower. How long had it been since he had last showered? He'd never know, because RESET messed up all measures of time. Laughing quietly to himself, he began to think. What exactly happened in the last timeline?

Sans began remembering details. How he fought the human over and over again, becoming more and more determined-

Sans paused. That must be it! I become more determined than the human! He smiled.

*Knowing that maybe you have a chance to change something fills you with DETERMINATION.*

"I wonder where the human is now... I doubt they've had the need to reset yet, considering they were able to get all the way to me without taking a single hit." Sans sighed as he turned off the shower and began drying himself off. Changing into his new clothes felt strangely... refreshing. "Huh." He muttered to himself, putting on the pants. It felt strange, as he was used to wearing shorts.

"Oh well." Sans smiled to himself in the mirror before realizing something. "What the-" he stared in confusion at the new save-point-shaped mark on his head which was glowing yellow. "Odd. Oh well." He left the shower.

Papyrus was waiting for him. "Sans, we're late, but that's okay because today, you were not lazy! You even changed your clothes!"

Sans nodded. "Guess I feel like making a skele-ton of changes today. Just for you, bro."

"SAAANNNNS!" Papyrus exclaimed, pulling him into a hug. "I'm so excited! We can make our puzzles and- Wait- did you just make a pun?!"

"I guess you tickled my funny bone with that bone-crushing hug." Sans grinned. His brother let out an exasperated sigh before stomping down the stairs.

"Come on! Let's go! We're already late!"

"Coming pap!" Sans replied. He really missed Pap. It had been so long... but now would be different. He knew it.
