Ch 2

It was the year 20XX, almost 80 years after that indecent. The people have rebuilt the city over those years. A new era of heroes arrived. And with that came the elite school of UA. But travel far enough into the forest closed off, you'll come across the factory. Or, what's left of it anyway.

A loud, deathly groan sounded near the centre of the collapse. A hand reached up. Bits of flesh hung onto the dead skin as they were ripped by the rubble. Dried blood coloured the ground, giant decaying pipes rolling off the being under them. The sound of cracking bones echoed throughout the area as they reshaped and mended. The figure reached his moving arm backwards, grabbing a pipe wedged into his left shoulder. He pulled it out with a sickening 'crunch' of bone and ripped out flesh. Muscles reformed, filling the hole as a new layer of dead skin covered it. The figure pulled himself up, grabbing onto a pipe that struck down next to his head. Standing, he glanced around at the destruction.

"Am I not dead...?" He murmured, eyes trailing down to his arms. "I smell like death," he placed a hand where his heart is, feeling nothing. "So I'm dead... but not..." he heaved out a heavy sigh. "I'm a damn zombie..."

He pulled his hand off his chest, going out a few centimetres before plunging his fist into his chest. He scavenged round his dead body, grabbing hold of the organ meant to keep him alive. He pulled out his heart, ripping the veins and arteries that held the heart. Dried blood covered it, colouring it a deep, dark crimson. The boy sighed in frustration as he placed his heart back, watching his wound close up. He took a step forward, tripping over a peice of rubble. His eyes widened as he fell, a broken pipe meeting his right eye and piercing through. A small jolt shivered down his spine as he pulled himself up. Splats of black and deep crimson dotted the ground around the pipe. He placed a hand to his face, blinking a few times as his eye reformed in a matter of moments.

"Guess I really am dead than..." he murmured, a heavy sigh leaving his lips as he stood up straight, his hand dropping to his side. He glanced up at the moon, the half crescent shining down on him. "How long has it been?"

He looked around the area, the rusted metal and debris coating a thick layer over the earth. He took a careful step forward, stepping over the pipes littering the ground. He felt his flesh being ripped from his legs as he walked. Glancing down, he saw the broken metal jabbing and cutting. He didn't feel pain. Only a little spark each slash. As he walked, vines started to drape down over his head and shoulders. He looked up into the forest he entered, brushing the vines off. He stepped through the tall grass that reached his knees, a soft 'crunch' from the leaves below.

"What should I do...?" The boy murmured, gazing down at his greyish skin colouring his hand. "I'm dead... what can I do...is there really anything...?"

He continued through the forest, the sound of rushing water filling his ears. His eyes scanned the area, following the sound of the splashing water. His legs moved towards it, his head turning left and right as if waiting for something to pop out. The rushing water came into view, the waterfall spraying water around the small clearing. He walked close, sitting down on the edge of a rock, dangling his legs into the water as he felt the water splash onto his face. He closed his eyes. His ears picked up all kinds of sounds as his nose picked up different scents.

"There's nowhere I can go... maybe I should look around the city for a bit... see what's changed."

As he stood, a bolt of grey fur caught his eye. He watched as a wolf pounced down on a pure white rabbit. It's jaw closed shut, crimson liquid colouring the fur and splashing on the ground, a sickening 'crunch' of bones breaking the still air. The scent on fresh flesh filled the boy's nose. He swiped his tongue along his lips, missing the taste of a nice meal. He decided to check out the city, see what's changed. He trudged through the forest, walking past the small murder scene. He rubbed his nose, a new scent wafting through. His mouth started to water as he remembered the scent of his favourite meal.

"The last thing I ever ate before dying. How I miss it."

He reached the end of the forest, though noticing a wooden fence around the area. He tilted his head to the side, wondering for a moment before placing his arms down, leaning on the fence. He heard someone gasp, causing his to turn his head to the side to see who made the sudden noise.

"The stories are true! There is a zombie in the forest!" A kid, no older than 7, spiky ash-blonde hair and crimson eyes exclaimed.

His friend hid behind him, shaking in fear. Blown wides ruby eyes, short black hair, shorter than the blonde guarding him. It took them a few moments to realise the teen looking at them, a small line formed by his mouth as his eyes held a gentle look. They both stepped back, the blonde shaking a bit, though trying to hold his ground, and the blackette shaking more.

"Hello," The zombie waved to the two boys, a soft smile forming, a warm aura surrounding him. "You don't have to be afraid. I won't hurt you."

"H-how can we trust you?!" The blonde yelled, trying to act tough though his face told everything. "Everyone says that you take kids and eat their brains and organs!"

"Are those people anyone you know?" The blonde slowly shook his head. "Then how can you trust them? No one's actually seen me, have they?" Another shake. "So your basically contradicting yourself. You shouldn't believe everything your told. It could lead to your downfall one day."

The two seemed to calm down a bit, the blackette still shaking slightly. They took cautious steps towards the zombie, watching him as if he were a predator. They stopped a few metres ahead of the fence, keeping their guards up.

"W-who are you?" The blackette asked, peeking from behind the blonde.

The zombie pondered, placing a finger to his chin. A confused look crossed his face, "...I... I don't know..."
