Chapter 1

Outside of Bristol, England
I dash into bushes to catch my breath, trying not to let the branches scratch the sleeping  young boy on my back. My breathing is labored and shallow. My face is soaked with sweat and tears.
"Search the crops!" A thick male voice commands making almost jump out of my skin. "We cannot let them escape!" I look to my left and see a door in the ground. I pull the handle and jump into a cellar. Please let me be safe, please let me be safe, I silently pray. I put the young goat boy down and peer out the crack of the door. One of the men is right outside back to me, peering in the bush I had been hiding in. He has a chain in his hand and wore a black jacket with black jeans.
"Come on out little girl," he taunts his voice dark and frightening, "I promise we won't hurt you too badly." I whimper softly. He turns towards the noice.
"Over here!" Someone shouts. The man walks away. I sigh a breath of relief as my brother wakes up.
"Sissy?" He asks, "where daddy? I'm scared." I head over to him and take his arms.
"It's okay Azzy. I'm going to take care of you. I won't let anyone harm you. I promise."

Eight years later, Salt Lake City, Utah
My alarm goes off at 7:00 am. I quickly hit snooze as the Imperial March goes off. I stretch, enjoying the feeling of muscles waking up. My room is small yet comfy. A bed in the middle, a small window to the right of me, shelfs full of books and Popvinals, and a dresser with pictures on it. I head out to wake my brother Asriel. I quietly knock.
"Azzy, time to get up." I hear a low moan from the other side.
"Azzy, don't make me get my nerf gun."
"I'M UP!" He yells and I laugh.
"Get dressed sleepyhead and I'll make breakfast." I go back to get dressed for our first day of school at Minstrel academy. Asriel is going into 5th grade, I'll be a in 10th. I make for my dresser. I have to wear a school uniform which I would hate if they didn't give me so many choices. The uniforms are short  skirts with blouses or dresses for girls and dress shirts with bottoms for boys. You could chose what color which was nice. I put on a light blue sleeveless blouse and light blue plaid skirt. Next, I put on combat boots (the shoes were not specified) and leggings. I look at myself in the mirror. I had brown short hair and light skin. My eyes were the color of the sea. I headed out to make breakfast. I had worked in a diner all summer to support us so I knew what I was doing. I make scrambled eggs and pancakes, one of our favorite meals. My brother walked into the kitchen. He was a goat with white fur and light green eyes. His uniform was a green top and brown pants.
"Forgetting something?" I asked. He looks at me confused. "Your other form?" He is suddenly panicked.
"Rhion, you know I hate that form."
"Asriel, we have to keep a low profile." He crossed his hands and sighed. He suddenly transformed. A young 10 year old with white hair and pale skin. I smiled.
"Much better," I complemented.
"I just don't feel like myself," he complained. I nodded and grabbed two plates.
"Can you pour us some chi please?" He nods and gets out cups from the cupboard. I served up the pancakes and eggs as he places our chi.
"Vitamins," I remind him. He gets out two plastic bottles from the cupboard. I take vitamins out of mine and he eats his to extend the magic of his other form. We eat. The pancakes are amazing and perfect consistency and I love how the eggs turned out. At the beginning of summer, I could barely make eggs without burning them. Now, they are fluffy and delicious. I grab my backpack and Asriel grabs his. We head out of our small apartment. On the way, I remind him of everything we went through.
"Remember, you don't have to be shy. Tell me if anyone bullies you. Try to have fun. Meet me at lunch." He laughs.
"I remember." He looks down.
"Nervous?"
"Yeah you too?" I nod. It's the first time I haven't been worried about someone chasing us since we came here about a year ago. I won't tell Azzy why I'm this scared. We make it to the school yard. It's pleasant with people talking and running around. We make our way to the office to get our schedules.
"Last name?" The women at the office asks.
"Dreemur," I answer using the fake last name I registered us under.
"Ah, Rhion and Asriel. Here you two go." She hands us our schedules. We thank her and walk out.
"We should head over to our classrooms now to find them," I suggest to Asriel. He nods. I give him a large hug and ruffle his hair affectionately. I find my home room without issues. When I get in, there are already about 15 students talking and walking around. No one notices me which is good. I go over to the back corner desk and sit down. I watch others silently. I notice a boy  with spiky blue hair and green eyes over in the left side of the room. He's wearing a similar outfit to Azzy except blue all over. He notices me looking and waves. I wave back before going into my backpack for a book. I peer up as two girls walk in. One has medium blond, almost white hair and blue eyes with glasses. One bang is over her eye. She has a blue dress on and flats. The other had medium brown hair with bangs back. Two braids were in front of her and she has blueish gray eyes. She had a pink blouse and skirt on. They go over to the boy and begin talking. I look down at my book. The bell soon goes off for school to start. I put my book away as the teacher walks in. He has red hair and glasses and wearing a nice white top and black dress pants.
"Good morning students. I am Mr. Genova, the history teacher and your home room teacher, but you can call me Mr. G. I'll take role now." He calls out names such as Bree, Sonic, Emma, Rianna, and my name.
"Alright, since it's the first day, I'll let you mingle with others," Mr. G tells us after roll. Kids go and walk around and talk. I stay in my seat. I want to follow my own advice about not being shy, but I can't help myself. The boy from earlier comes over.
"Hey, you're new right?" He asks in a friendly way. I nod. "Cool! I'm Sonic." He extends a hand. I shake it.
"Rhion, pleasure."
"What other classes do you have?" I show him my schedule. Starting at 7th grade, you can chose two electives to take such as art, theater, media productions and mythology. I'm taking mythology and a journalism class. My other courses were normal. Math, ELA, science, and history.
"Nice! My friend Zelda is taking the same mythology and it looks like we've got the same lunch. Would you like to sit with us?" I gulp.
"Normally I'd say yes but I promised my little brother I'd sit with him." He smiles.
"That's okay. I'll see you later." He starts to go back to his friends as two girls block his way.
"Hey Sonic, we'll sit with you," one says. She has way to much makeup on and smells like a rose plant. She has black hair which is in a braid.
"I didn't ask you, Mya." He sounds as though he's use to this.
"You don't have to hang out with mouse over there." Mouse? I'm kind of offended.
"You heard him," I step in, "now back off."
"Well, looks like little mouse finally decided to speak."
"Back off Mya," one of Sonic's friends come over, the blond one. Mya scowls and walks off.
"Thanks," Sonic answers, "you can hang out anytime with us you know." The blond one nods. She extends her hand as the brunette comes over.
"Rosalina."
"Rhion." We shake. The brunette is Zelda. First day and I already have friends.

Asriel's POV
I run in to my class as the bell goes off. It was difficult to find. The teacher pays me no mind. I look for my name tag. It is at the front of the class in front of the teacher. She looks up.
"That isn't where I put you," she answers.
"Sorry, this is where my-"
"Lisa! I said don't move your name tags!" A girl named Lisa gets up from the window seat right of the room. "Move to where she is."
"Yes Mrs. Grover." I walk over. The girl moves back to where I was. I sit next to a girl with dark skin and orange hair in a ponytail. She has a white blouse on similar to Rhion's and a back skirt with leggings. She nods to me as if to thank me. I nod back. Mrs. Grover double checks our seats.
"Good, now unless I tell you to, no one moves seats. Understand?"
"Yes Mrs. Grover," the class answers. Unlike Rhion, I don't move classes, so I have these people for the whole year.
"Good, now as it is the first day, introduce yourself to your neighbors." The girl turns towards me.
"Hey, I'm Midna."
"Asriel." She turns away. The boy next to her nudges her arm. She turns back.
"My friend wants to introduce himself."
"Really Mid?!" The boy next to her said. He had tan skin and orange hair. He had a white shirt and orange bottoms. Midna gave her friend a smile and I noticed one tooth was bigger than the others.
"Well, I'm Miles. And come on Midna! I can introduce myself. I was just waiting. Didn't want to overwhelm you."
"That's okay." I smiled. I was going to to like this school.
Heya! This is going to be a book very different than my other ones. I hope you like it!
