Chron
19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter's second son, Albus Severus Potter, attends his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The magical realm had been at peace ever since Voldemort's defeat, and for once, the gifted children felt normal and safe.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione lived happy lives with children, family, and friends. They found a way to mend their broken hearts from the lost of close friends in the Second Wizarding War, knowing that they didn't die in vain.
With great lost came great grief, but great sacrifices. Voldemort's era was a time of lost for everyone. Life seemed to be drained from their eyes when they spoke, and it appeared that every wizard had been affected tremendously from that time.
Some more than others . . .
First Year
Albus Potter boarded the Hogwarts Express with weary eyes while sitting in a crowded compartment with his cousin Rose Granger-Weasley and her new first year friends. The girls immediately gushed at Albus's entrance and whispered amongst each other.
"Hello, Ronnie." He greeted Rose in a mellow tone. She scolded at his down mood.
"Merlin, could you be anymore cheery?" Rose teased in aggravation. "We're going to Hogwarts for crying out loud! Why so dull?"
"I'm just really worried about the sorting ceremony. What if I don't get sorted into Gryffindor?"
Rose instantly rolled her eyes, "You've been going on about this all summer! It doesn't matter if you're Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or even Slytherin. The thing that matters most is who you are."
"My dad said the same thing." Albus sighed heavily, unconvinced.
"You should try to listen to him. Uncle Harry is one of the greatest wizards of all time." Rose proposed to argue her claim. Ironically, she shared features with her father but had a mind like her mother. Somehow, their personalities combined to make a playful know-it-all.
"I know. It's just that—"
Rose gasped aloud, "The train is moving! We're leaving! We're finally going to Hogwarts!" Rose happily waved goodbye to her mother, father, and younger brother, Hugo, when the trains whistle blew aloud. "Say goodbye, Albus!"
Albus looked out the window only to make eye contact with his dad who starred back with a reassuring smile. He smiled back to his father and lifted his hand to wave goodbye before losing sight of his family on his way to Hogwarts.
II
In the next compartment, A raven-haired girl sat silently alone watching the beautiful landscape of the UK through the glass window. Soft voices from other conversations drifted throughout the isle but she didn't bother to listen.
Upon hearing shuffling at the compartment's entrance she turned to see a short boy with ghost, white hair standing there hesitantly. It didn't take a genius to know who he was. That signature hair color was his mark, Malfoy.
When he looked back at the girl to see her expressionless stare, a wave of nervousness washed over him. While he tried to speak, the words tumbled over one another causing him to scratch the back of his neck subconsciously.
She rolled her eyes in annoyance before sighing, "Well, are you going to just stand there or sit down?" Her voice was so monotone and sharp that it came off as intimidating.
He cracked a soft smile and scurried over to the seat across from her. She simple spared him one last look prior to focusing her attention back at the window.
"I'm Scorpius, Scorpius—"
"Malfoy." She interrupted coolly without pardoning a glance towards his direction. "I'm familiar with you, your family, and your title, Malfoy." Even If she didn't mean to be harsh, the way she said his name sounded distasteful with a lack of interest.
Scorpius didn't know whether to be excited or worried that he and his family were well known in the wizarding world. It's like everyone already knew him and placed a personality on his name just because he was a Malfoy. He didn't want to be known for his parents and great grandparent's deeds. He wanted everyone to get to know him before judging so quickly.
"Well, what's your name then?" Scorpius smiled to lighten the mood. He wanted a friend, not allies like his father suggested.
"Why?" She asked bitterly. Scorpius immediately picked up on her moody nature that showed an absence of fun and character.
He decided to try and lift her spirits, "Because you're the most civil person on this train and you're actually talking to me like a normal person. Everyone else doesn't know whether to run and hide, or kiss my feet. It's really annoying! I just want someone to get to know me, Scorpius, not Scorpius Malfoy."
The right side of the girl's lip tugged upwards into an uneven smirk. "That was a well thought-of monologue Malfoy. How long have you been planning that one?"
His shoulders jumped as he chuckled, "Actually the entire morning! How did I do?" Scorpius jokes humorously.
In that moment, the strings of friendship tied together with one simple laugh. "Something tells me I'm going to regret this afterwards." She giggled lowly, "My name is Laterra Suspenson, but everyone calls me Terra."
"Cool name! Where are you from?" Scorpius scooted to the edge of his seat happily. He could see that Terra was starting to open up bit by bit, but somewhat held back in uncertainty.
"Oxford. My family has been living there for while now. I'm the first to attend Hogwarts." Terra informs properly. She sat with her back straight and legs crossed gracefully over one another like a perfect statue.
"Really? So nobody has ever told you about how great Hogwarts is?" Scorpius proposed curiously while frowning with his head tilted to the side like the child he was.
Terra surfaced a quick laugh, "No, but I've done some heavy reading on the place. Apart from it being one of the greatest Wizardry schools to attend, there's a lot of craziness and bad blood in the history books." She confesses truth. "How is it that one place is so significant in being the home of— both the greatest and most darkest wizards to ever live?" Terra snorts.
Scorpius smiles widely, "Wow, you're extremely witty. No doubt you'll be sorted into Ravenclaw." The thought of his new friend being sorted into Ravenclaw made him sigh in sadness. Just when things were going right they started crumbling down.
"Why so sad? What's wrong with Ravenclaw?" Terra asked cautiously, trying not to sound too worried for the boy.
"Oh nothing, it's just going to be hard being friends if we're not in the same house. I'm not smart enough to get into Ravenclaw." Scorpius pursed his lips together in sadness, tucking his head low.
"Well, what house would you be in since you don't have the brains?" She asked humorously, trying to shift the tone. Sentimental moments weren't a gift and familiarity. It always made her feel awkward.
"Slytherin!" Scorpius's mood successfully changed at the mention of his house. "My family has been sorted into Slytherin since the day the house was created." He snorted.
"And what's so special about this house?"
"It supports the most cunning and ambitious students. Also, if you're a pureblood then you're most likely going to be sorted in anyway." He informs with a shrug. "Slytherin is by-far the best house."
Terra snickers at his opinion, "Sounds like a club for meat-heads. No doubt anyone who gets sorted there is raw at the top." She mumbled under her breath as Scorpius tried to lean in and catch the hushed words.
"Sorry, I didn't catch that. What were you saying?" He asked cluelessly.
She moved her dark hair that fanned messily across her face and smiled sweetly. "Oh nothing, just practicing a few charms. What's your favorite subject?" She changed the topic.
"Actually, I hate studying. It's literally torture—"
"Well, well, Well. If it isn't the Dark Lord's son, Scorpius Voldemort." They're conversation was cut short to an arrogant voice filling the compartment.
Terra's cold expression snapped back to its originality at the insult sent towards her new friend. "And you are?" She spat bitterly, a harsh frown set upon her face.
The rude, brown-haired boy at the entrance of the compartment stood with a smug grin. Confidence and what-not.
"Karl Jenkins." He smirked, "And you?"
"Surprised that I haven't heard of your surname before in my life." Terra intersected sarcastically, Karl grinned even more as his posse oh'd behind him. "Shouldn't someone with a big head like yours and a lame group of friends have some kind of title?"
"You're a spunky one aren't you? What do you do for a living? I'll bet your only company is an old textbook and hanging out with abominations like Voldy over here." Karl snorts, sending his friends into wild laughter. Terra simply rolled her eyes.
"Get over yourself, Jenkins. The role of being the school's bad boy and bully is overrated. Besides, you don't even fit the part. You still haven't grown into your ears yet."
Karl snarled, "If you keep yapping your gums, I'll—"
"You'll what?" At the threat of that, Terra whipped out her wand and pointed the tip towards Karl's face.
He only flinched slightly but grasped his pride once again at the presences of his posse. "Well, Let's hear it then? Show us what you know." Karl challenged.
"Don't do it Terra. You'll get in trouble for using magic outside of Hogwarts. He knows this." Scorpius grabbed his friends shoulder but she shrugged him away and clenched her jaw tightly.
"I don't care." Terra growled viciously.
Karl stared her down, "Go ahead. Once I'm rid of you then we'll have more room in Hogwarts." His friends laughed again causing Terra to grip onto the wand tighter.
"Get out, Jenkins!" Scorpius said in a demanding tone.
Karl lifted his hands prior to backing away slowly, "Don't worry, with your head and her mouth, there's not enough room for us anyway."
"And the heat from your breath has now fogged up the window, leave!" Terra lowered her wand but kept the harsh scowl planted.
Karl and his posse finally exited with Scorpius sighing heavily through puffed cheeks. "Bloody hell, I thought you were going to spell his arse off."
"I couldn't," She whispered, giggling quietly after returning back to her seat. "I don't know any spells."
They both laughed even more as the Hogwarts Express chimed down the tracks of England.
