✦︎ chapter two ✦

"Hello! Is anyone out there? Can someone please explain to me why I'm here! Or why I'm suddenly becoming a bride?" Marinette called out from her cell.

Marinette had been dragged off by tiny cats to this huge castle and was thrown into a cell, until further instructions.

"It's not like I can fucking leave or anything." She mumbled. "Stupid Chat Noir and stupid Plagg and... Why the hell do I have to be here!" There was nothing but an eerie silence around the cell after her voice echoed. Marinette gave a sigh as she slid down the bars of the cell and onto her bottom, giving up.

"Well you're interesting." The was a tinkle of a bell and behind Marinette was a small child. Marinette ran across the cell and pressed her side against the wall, her back arched and a hiss riding out of her lips. The child giggled, standing straight. She had short black hair and a black dress with red dots, small blue eyes twinkling at her. "I see you're starting to get used to your new body."

"Ah-" Marinette could feel her tail bristled and the hairs on the back of her neck standing. She was in defense mode and was about to start relaxing, when she heard the child laugh again.

"You're the new girl, right?" She asked, leaning against the metal bars. Marinette straightened, eyeing the girl.

"Perhaps. Maybe I was plotting to kill the king." She shrugged, taking her tail into her hand and smoothing out the bristled fur. The child quirked an eyebrow.

"Oh?" A smile played on her lips. "I like you."

"And I don't like you."

"Listen, I can get you out of here." Marinette's ears quirked at the words.

"You can?" The girl nodded.

"You're going to have to play along for a little bit and meet with the King, but I can get you out of there. With some help, of course." Marinette felt relief but she didn't let her guard down as she narrowed her eyes at the child.

"Why should I trust you?" Marinette asked and the girl smiled.

"Because I want to help you kill the King." Marinette should have found that suspicious, such a tiny child with such evil intentions, but she found herself trusting her.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Tikki. And I hope we can become really good friends, Marinette Dupain-Cheng." Tikki winked and waved her fingers before she disappeared down the corridor. Marinette went to the bars and tried to catch a glimpse of her leaving, but she was already gone.

Not shortly after, Marinette could hear the distant sound of feet padded to her with her heightened senses. As she was expecting, the small soldier cats marched to her cell.

"You are going to meet with his majesty, the King, and you can't go looking like that."

"So we are bringing you to get groomed. And pampered." One cat unlocked the cell and a handful of them stepped inside and brought her out.

"Don't try to pull anything, we won't hesitate to tranquilize you." One cat warned.

"Jeez, calm down." Marinette muttered as they began walking.

The castle was large and beautiful, filled with many different fancy paintings and plush carpets. She was taken to a bedroom with a large, four poster canopy bed, where one girl half-cat girl similar to herself, was waiting by the restroom.

The guards told the girl what to do and she nodded, leaving the girl to tend to Marinette. Marinette was stripped from her clothing and dumped into a big bathtub filled with colorful bubbles and aromas that pleased her nose. Her hair and her new ears and tail were shampooed with pretty smelling soaps and Marinette started to actually feel like she liked it here. That maybe it was worth being married off to some random King in the cat world.

"You don't belong here." A small voice reminded her in her head. Marinette shook her head, shaking the crazed idea of becoming a queen out of her head.

That little voice was right. Marinette didn't belong here. She had a home to go back to and a regular life to live without cat ears and a tail.

Another half-cat dressed Marinette in a frilly dress and before long, she was walking into a grand throne room, guards lined from the entrance to the throne. She walked down the long red carpet, meeting the piercing gaze of the platinum blonde cat King.

"Bow." One of the guards mumbled. Marinette gave a curtsey and remained with her head bowed, until she was acknowledged by the King.

"His majesty, the King, King Papillon." Marinette's ear twitched as she straightened to look at the King before her.

"Papillon? In a cat world I would have assumed lion or something." The guard beside Marinette hissed but when Papillon rose a hand, the guard stopped.

"You have some nerve speaking up without permission." He wasn't old, maybe around his late twenties or early thirties. His platinum blonde hair was slicked back, a tail and pair of ears to match. Black glasses framed his cloudy gray eyes as he looked down at her condescendingly.

"Well I'm going to be Queen, I have to be equal, don't I?" Marinette held her head high, her tail swishing. Papillon rose an eyebrow, fixing his violet blazer.

"You're ready for marriage?" Papillon asked.

"Not really, but since the chance is here, might as well take it, right?" What had gotten into Marinette, she had no idea, but she gave a teasing smirk to which, if she saw correctly, made Papillon lip quirk in a smile.

"I admire that bravery, you would fit a queen perfectly." Papillon extended his hand to Marinette, motioning her forward, but as soon as Marinette began to extend her hand, there was a loud noise and the stained windows around us shattered.

Everyone ducked and tried to protect themselves from the colored falling glass. "Papillon!" A voice called out.

"Chat Noir!" growled Papillon. Marinette's head immediately rose once she heard the name, looking towards the source of the voice. When she did find it, she was surprised by the view. It was Chat Noir, his electric green eyes shining in the sun, sitting atop of a very large black lion.

"I'm pawfully sorry to interrupt your pawty, but that ball of yarn you got there is mine." Marinette let out an audible groan and Chat smirked.

"Guards, grab that idiotic cat!" Papillon called. The small cats collected their spears and ran to the window where Chat and the lion were. Papillon started going down the stairs and started approaching Marinette, ready to take her back to a cell, when a flash of spots appeared between the two of them. It was another lion, black with orange tufts that growled at Papillon before looking at Marinette with a familiar pair of blue eyes stared at her.

"Hop on." With all the noise that was going on around her, she could barely hear herself breathing, yet she could hear the lion speak to her as clear as day. She stepped forward and grabbed onto the lion's pelt and pressing herself between it's shoulders as it ran.

Marinette felt the wind rushing through her hair and past her ears, a cold sting to her cheeks and legs. Or maybe it was the small cuts she got from still flying glass. Either way, Marinette couldn't focus on anything else but the rough padding of the lion's paws on the ground and another pair of padding behind her.

Marinette could feel the lion slowing, walking around in circles until it came to a slow stop. Marinette sat up straight, looking around. They were in a forest, seemingly on the outskirts of a town.

"Where are we?" Marinette asked.

"Two towns over." Chat Noir was beside her, on his black lion.

"Two!" How did they travel so far so fast? Chat Noir had a satchel draped across his shoulder, taking it off and tossing it over to Marinette.

"Here. There's a change of clothes in there and a mask. We're going to enter the town's bar and you can get changed there." Marinette sputtered.

"What, bar?" She exclaimed. "I'm not of age to drink!" Chat dismounted and the lion shrunk in size, looking like a familiar black cat she had seen before.

"Tikki, you did a good job." Plagg spoke and the lion Marinette was still on let out a child-like giggle.

"Thank you. I'm just glad you're finally taking this seriously Chat." Marinette dismounted her black and orange tufted lion, watching it shrink into a cat.

"Tikki? You're... You're the little girl that talked to me when I was imprisoned?" The cat nodded, it's eyes sparkling.

"Yup! I was the one who called Chat Noir to come help!" Marinette turned to thank Chat, when he grabbed her by the arm and started taking her to the city gates. She tried to pry his hand off her arm, but his grip was vice as they entered a tavern. The bartender greeted Chat, but he remained ignored as Chat lead Marinette into the restroom.

"Change clothes, dispose of the dress and wear the mask." He ordered and closed the door after pushing Marinette into the restroom.

"I still have no idea what's going on here!" Marinette called through the door.

"Don't worry Marinette! Chat has his reasons for doing this!" The small cat smiled by her feet. "Why don't you change clothes and meet Chat outside? He'll start explaining things to you then."

Marinette did as she was told, getting dressed into maid's dress that was similar to when she saw Tikki in her human form. A black and red dotted dress with an eye mask that was red and had black dots. The dress she was wearing earned for the castle was torn in some places and she noticed some cuts on her legs. Tikki used some magic to heal her wounds, before looking at the dress.

"I'll dispose of that, you go meet Chat." Marinette was hesitant and nodded, leaving Tikki to her task.

As Marinette stepped out of the restroom, she undid her usual pigtails and made one high ponytail, her eyes looking at her surroundings. The tavern was small and warm, with scattered half-cats around the bar. Music filtered through the speakers softly and the bartender, a chubby male half-cat who smiled at her and motioned her to a corner of the bar, where Chat was sitting with a glass full of white liquid.

Marinette shuffled awkwardly to Chat, perching on the bar stool beside him. She looked past the bartender and saw refrigerators full of glass bottles filled to the brim with white liquid. A bottle that had a black cow head on the front. "It's a milk bar." Marinette said, astonished. Chat nodded, drinking the glass in one gulp.

"From now on, you are no longer Marinette. You're going to be Ladybug, got it?"
