Sadly, I was right when I said that it would be a long night. That was because I couldn't tell the night from the day. In the dungeon it was a continual night. No light shined except for the flickering lights in some of the cells. Men and women would moan in pain, and I knew most of them had been beaten half to death.
I was the lucky one, because the Alpha had something more important to do. Tyler had come once or twice to give me food or water. I'm sure it was ordered for everyone to get that treatment, but my food was always steaming hot and the water was always cold. That was probably because Tyler is kind hearted or the Alpha had gained a heart since I last saw him.
The only thing that had kept me going was the necklace and ring that I could always feel against my skin. The last thing that my father had given me before he died. The only thing that could prove his death was from some other cause.
I was waiting for him to come everyday. I would sit here and do nothing. I still had my phone, wallet and keys in my pockets. That was another bonus of being a Winterheart werewolf. I wouldn't loose anything when I shift just as long as it's in my pockets. My hair had gotten oily and matted. I didn't want to take it down, because I knew it would look worse than it does now.
I would sleep most of the time because I was bored, or I just didn't feel good. The smell of blood and burning skin was starting to become easy to smell. It was all around me. I could smell the silver burning down into bone. Then I would smell blood that started to drip around the silver. This made the wound heal around the silver. The silver would eventually just burn the nerves and the pain would be excruciating until everything stopped. The silver would finally settle around the bone, and the skin would grow back around it. However, you wouldn't be able feel it after it heals because all of the nerves would be burnt to a crisp. You'd never get the feeling back in that limb.
I knew this because I had seen too many people die like that. Eventually it was easy for me to watch them die, but it was harder to hear the pain they were going through. I could feel their pain along with them when they would scream as the silver burnt their nerves. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to be able to smell your own limbs being burnt off by silver and also be able to feel it.
I woke up one hour only to hear footsteps echoing against the walls of the dungeon. Someone was coming down the stairs, but it wasn't Tyler. This man was bigger than Tyler. As he neared the bottom of the stairs, I began to smell him. It was the Alpha. I could feel myself tense, but also mentally roll my eyes. Why would someone want this much power? I heard all of the moans and groans of pain stop. They could tell who it was too.
The door at the bottom of the stairs creaked open, and his strong smell of power seeped into the dungeon. His footsteps were proud and calculated. I could hear more footsteps behind him that were probably his guards. They were more silent than the Alpha's.
From what I could sense, it seemed like Tyler was one of them. I could barely make out his tiny footsteps falling behind the Alpha. Tyler had never told me the Alpha's name, so all I can call him is Alpha. I cringed at the thought of calling someone else my Alpha. I could hear him open a cell and grab someone as they screamed in pain.
"Dig the silver out of her skin. Take her to the house. I need some questions answered." His voice echoed throughout the dungeon. If his guards didn't hear him the first time then his echoes would've definitely answered any unwanted questions.
"Yes Sir." A masculine voice replied. I heard shuffling and more footsteps followed that were heading out of the dungeon. I could barely make out the dragging sound that fell behind them. It gave me shivers to think what she's going to go through in the next few hours or days.
The Alpha's footsteps continued. He would stop every once in a while to give orders or just stopping to see what he's created. Sadly his footsteps were coming closer to my cell, so I hung my head and held my hands together. I'm sure I would have imprints of my nails against my skin after this. I could feel Tyler's presence come closer as the Alpha stopped right in front of my cell.
"Melynie? It's me, Tyler. I know you probably know what's coming but don't worry, I won't let him try anything." I felt myself relax slightly at Tyler's voice. I knew the Alpha had heard him as he growled low and quiet. It was a warning sign.
"Tyler?" The Alpha growled, and Tyler laughed slightly.
"I'm sorry, Alpha, she's my friend. I can't let you kill her." The Alpha sighed. I could tell his patience wanted to leave him, but for some reason he didn't lose it. I knew that in some sit at universe, he somehow loved the smaller wolf standing in front of my cell. Tyler seemed to be acting a little weird today, though.
"It's okay, Tyler. I promise I won't hurt her. Can you just move out of the way, please?" He ask, and I knew Tyler probably smiled as he stepped away in a childish manner.
"Okay, Alpha." I felt Tyler submit to his Alpha and move away from the door.
The Alpha grabbed my cell door and opened it slowly. He paused for a moment.
"Melynie, is it?" He said quietly. His demeanor seemed to be calming down. He stepped in my cell, but he still kept his distance.
"Yes." I said quietly back. I could tell that I was affecting him. The mate bond was bad for that.
"Well, Melynie, we have to know why you became a Rouge. It's unusual to find Alpha blood turned Rouge. It's even more unusual to find a Winterheart-," fuck Tyler, you weren't supposed to tell, "werewolf. Somehow you added those two things together, and I'm going to be honest, it's shocking. I need you to tell me why you ran and who was with you." I stayed silent for a moment. He stayed silent as well as he probably knew I was thinking about what I wanted to do. I could tell him and risk my family being caught, or I don't tell him and risk being killed. I didn't want my family caught, and it was my responsibility that I would die for them. I knew I needed to say something, but I stayed quiet.
"Melynie, don't be like this." I shivered internally at the way my name fluttered off his lips, but I couldn't let the mate bond stop me from being strong. I had to stay quiet, because I couldn't give up my families location and motive.
"Melynie? Please, just tell us why your here." Tyler pleaded from behind the Alpha.
"I can't. I have my own reasons, and I didn't want to end up in this God forsaken place anyway." The Alpha growled at my last words.
"This place is God forsaken for a reason. You don't even know where you are, do you? You don't know my name. You don't know anything about this pack except that you're now a part of it. You can never leave here, so either you tell us why you're here and live peacefully depending on your reasons, or you die here. Which one?" He somewhat kept his patience in check as he waited for me.
