"Dad, what do you mean? What's happening? I don't understand, because the pack has gone through so much. We can fight whatever is coming our way." I was almost on the verge of tears from confusion, because this sounded like a speech that my father had been rehearsing for a long time.

"Listen! You can't take me with you Melynie. You are my beloved Alpha daughter. I have raised you for a moment like this. You are my pride and joy, and I will never put you in this type of danger. You can't take me with you, okay?" He was practically yelling at me by the end, and I could tell that he was trying to keep control of Darkrein. I didn't know if it was a cry of anger or pain. I didn't know what to do or say. I somehow knew that I was going to lose my father today.

"I'm sorry baby, it's time for me to say goodbye. I love you more than you'll ever know. If you hear me screaming, please, just run and leave me behind. The rest of the pack will make it out, I promise. I don't know exactly what's happening, but I know I won't make it out of this alive. I have to stay back to complete my job as Alpha, save my pack. I will die in honor." I didn't know what to say to him. All I knew was to follow what he said.

"Melynie, know that I'll always love you." He grabbed my hand to pull me into a hug while he kissed my fore head.

"Now, go get your brother and sister. They should be ready to leave by now. If you have to leave everyone behind, create a path everyone can follow. Your mother is going to meet you at the Far East edge of the territory. Call Valene and tell her to meet you there too. I'll buy you time. I love you so much baby girl, I've always loved you." I hugged him close and nodded before separating and kissing his cheek. I began to turn around when he grabbed my wrist.

"Wait, take this," he pressed a necklace, ring, and an envelope into my hand, "just in case you get caught. Show them this and they'll know what happened." I nodded my head and slipped the ring onto the necklace and put it on. I then slipped the envelope into my pocket. I looked into my father's eyes one more time, and I knew what I had to do.

I ran out of the kitchen door and headed directly to my brothers room. I opened the door to find him standing there with a backpack. He had just turned sixteen and had met his wolf, Leon, after he turned fourteen. He knew that he needed a backpack to carry his things in. I nodded to him and went into my sisters room to find her doing the same as Dylan. She was fourteen so, luckily, she already had her wolf, Lenna, as well. I nodded to her, like I did to Dylan, before heading down the stairs with them following me closely. I looked back into the kitchen one last time to see that my father was already gone. I looked at Dylan and Lune.

"You two need to run for yourselves, okay? I know you're scared, but follow me and stay close. We'll be safe, don't worry." They both nodded. I grabbed my phone and called Valene.

"Hello?"

"Val, I need you to meet me at the Far East side of the territory. We're in trouble, don't ask questions run as fast as you can, get there in three."

"Oh, o-okay, I'm on my way." I hung up after her words.

I was already out of the house with Luna and Dylan right behind me. I began running even as the clouds overtook the sun and sprinkles began hitting my face. I made sure that Dylan and Lune were still behind me at all times.

I could finally see my mom in the distance, and I soon heard the running steps of Valene on my right. It made me feel a little better. Maybe we would make it out. I made it to my mom and looked in her teary eyes. I didn't know what she was feeling, and I never wanted to know that feeling. The feeling of knowing you were going to loose your mate, but you couldn't do anything about it. That is, if I ever find a mate. I hugged mom quickly and waited until everyone came together in a circle.

"Alright, since I can shift easily without tearing my clothes every time, I'll head out first. I'm going to let Skylar take over for awhile. I'll put markers on a path that the whole pack can take. Just follow close to me, and everything will be fine." Everyone nodded knowing my instinct was better than theirs. We would make it out of here alive. I would avenge my father, even if it takes my life as well.

I started running and tossed the markers in the air and shifted quickly, letting my silver paws hit the ground softly. I looked up and grabbed the markers in my mouth before sprinting forward. I would for the rest to catch up, and then I'd start running at full speed. Soon I heard four sets of footsteps following behind me, so I ran quicker. I shifted into my human form and tied a marker around a large birch tree. I shifted back into my wolf before any of them could even catch up.

They were still behind me, I could hear them. I felt a small sense of peace knowing they were behind me. That was when I heard Darkrein. A piercing howl sent shivers down our spine, I could feel Darkrein's ties to Skylar slowly fade, and I knew Daddy was dead. I kept running, because I had to, for everyone. It was my responsibility. I was Alpha now, even though it may not be for very long. We'd soon all be rouges, and most of us will probably get killed. It's sad for a pack like us, but sometimes these things happen. I didn't know what was happening, but I have a feeling it was because of those aggressive rouges.

The rain had gotten bad by now, and our silky coat was matted with water. Our padded paws splashed in the puddles that were quickly forming. I kept shifting back and forth, putting markers on trees all while making sure they weren't in another pack's territory. Just a little while longer, and we could all make it.
