One of the most intriguing cryptids I have found is the brain eating bear of Africa.
The brain eating bear has numerous local variant names, but the general profile remains similar.
The creature is reported to be roughly the size of a lion, and have shorter hind legs than front, with a sloping back like a hyena.
It is often reported to have wicked claws, and to walk on the hind feet when provoked.
The BEB ( Brain Eating Bear) is often depicted as an aggressive, opportunistic carnivore, with an apparent tendency to attack humans. And eat the brains.
A report from 1925 tells of a six year old girl being snatched through the wall of thorns meant to defend against large predators.
The last 'good' account of one of these beasts came from 1960.
Fun fact: Africa has no extant species of bear. So what is the Brain Eating Bear?
