Estelle
I wake up to someone running their fingers through my hair.
I gingerly open my eyes, since the light was so bright.
I couldn't hear the whir of the engines, so we were probably grounded.
I look up at the person running their fingers through my and.
"Leeciy?" I ask, reaching up for his face.
"Hey." He says softly. "How do you feel?"
"My side hurts." I reply.
"You reopened your stitches when you got out of bed." He says. "You're closed back up now."
I nod. "How is everybody?"
"They're okay." Leeciy says. "We're settling in."
"How long ago did we get here?" I ask.
"A day, maybe a day and a half." Leeciy says.
"Did anybody die?" I ask.
"Wrenton did." He says. "Gabrie's devastated, mostly because she's carrying his child."
"What?" I ask, my eyes widening.
"Gabrie's pregnant with Wrenton's baby, or babies." He answers.
"What's everyone else doing?" I ask.
"Well, we're picking out jobs." He says. "Nigel's helping design weapons, Ned and Annaliesee are both in the clothing department, Logan's a teacher, Gabrie is training to become a nurse, Cirus and September are in school, Hetij and Ellis both are being admitted into daycare, Titanios is working close to Lexon, Luca's training people to shoot, Mareena is in some sort of school, and I'm a guard."
"Who are you guarding?" I ask.
"You." He answers.
"I have a guard?!" I ask in disbelief.
"You have three." He adds. "Me, some really nice girl named Latonya, and a really mysterious guy named Daxx."
"That's great." I say. "Why?"
"Well, you're the face of the rebellion, and Lexon said you need a few people protecting you."
"I can protect myself." I say.
"You have strange ways of showing it." He motions to my side.
I roll my eyes.
"There's a healer that comes here everyday, so you're healing pretty quickly." Leeciy says.
"When can I get up?" I ask.
He shrugs. "Probably pretty soon."
"How bad was the injury?" I ask.
"Well, the throwing knife punctured you left lung, and it nicked one of your ribs, but it didn't leave too much of a mark, so they just took out the piece of bone." Leeciy explains.
"My lung?"
"Yeah, but that was the first thing the healer healed, so it's fine now." He says. "You'll be okay."
I nod. "I know."

Three days later, I was cleared to leave the hospital.
I had a two bedroom apartment to my name, which I shared with September.
The apartment made my old apartment back in South-side look like a closet.
There was a wall of huge floor-to-ceiling windows in the kitchen, which was minimalist, yet futuristic. The sitting area had a accent wall of dusty purple, the wall adjacent to the colored wall had a large TV mounted on it. The couch was a light grey, next to a white armchair. The coffee table was rose gold with a big plant in the center of it. The floor was a covered with a big pastel pink fuzzy rug.
The white floors continued into a bathroom that had plants littered all over, making the very light green walls pop.
September's room had a piano in it, along with a guitar. The walls were all white except one painted to look like a galaxy. His queen-sized bed was pushed into the corner, next to a cluttered desk. His wardrobe was equally as cluttered but that wasn't too important.
I walk to the furthest room, which hadn't seemed to be touched.
I walk in, and it was very minimalist, with a bed with fluffy pillows, that had a white comforter with a periwinkle throw at the bottom. The floor was wood beside the white rug under the bed.
There was a desk in the corner with a few succulents on it, and a closet with periwinkle doors. There was also a bay window, with cushions on it, which were also periwinkle. There was a painting of a flower on the wall, but that was all for decorations.
"Hey." An unrecognizable voice says from behind me.
I jump, turning around.
"I'm Latonya." the person was maybe 5'3 with white hair that fell to her shoulders, her eyes we're a light green. She was wearing a short sleeve shirt to show off her mark.
"I'm Estelle." I introduce myself.
"I know that." She says. "I actually know two things about you, you have fiery red hair, and your name is Estelle."
"I know two things about you." I reply. "You have the Mark of Aegis, and your name is Latonya."
"Ding, ding, ding! You're correct." She says. "My Oura konnes is teleportation, since that would obviously be your next question."
"My Oura konnes is rock? Or controlling rock? I'm not quite sure how to put it." I say.
"I know what yours is, I mean, everyone does." Latonya says. "Y'know the whole Roman symbol thing."
"Oh yeah." I say, sitting on the surprisingly cozy bed.
"Anyway, you should get dressed." She says, motioning to the scrubs I was wearing. "I'm supposed to take you to see Lexon."
"Oh, why?"
"Well, now that you're up and not ripping your stitches with every movement, he want's to see you." Latonya says.
"I don't have any clothes." I say.
"Sure you do. Your pal Annaliesee made sure you got a load of good looking clothes so you truly looked like a leader." Latonya shrugs. "They're in your closet."
I nod.
"I'll wait in the sitting area, so you get ready and meet me out there." And with that, she was gone.
I walk to my closet and pull out a black tank top with a threateningly deep dip in the front. I toss that on the bed and grab a pair of distressed black jeans, I grab the one denim and put that on the bed.
I strip out of the scrubs and dress quickly, careful for the bandages.
I look in the mirror and see me. The bags under my eyes were like bruises, and the bruise on my cheek was red and probably would be impossible to cover, so I leave it.
I walk outside and Latonya stands up.
"Alrighty, Red, lets go." She says.
I freeze. "Can you just call me Estelle?"
She cocks her head. "Whatever you say."
She links her arm with mine, and we're off.
